Directly ON the East Branch of the Au Sable river and close to everything northern Michigan. Clean restrooms, gaming room & playground for kids, camp store with DNR licenses & ice. Lots of sand and trails less than a mile away for ATV's. Lots of fishing within biking / short driving distance. Power hook ups for RV's & travel trailers & primitive sights for tents. Heated year round bath house. Always enjoy camping here, most of our family makes frequent trips throughout the summer.

However what you can't see right away is there are no dogs allowed on that beach. Which we were told off by the staff. However it turns out they do have a Dog Beach. The bad news is, it is horribly labeled. Signs don't cost that much how about a little help! Anyways you follow the path North from the parking lot, starting behind the Bathrooms. You'll walk about a half mile and finally see the one sign Dog Beach with an arrow down the stairs. Once you get down the stairs you immediately see a sign that says no dogs on Beach, that's it. So you continue going North and about a quarter to a third of a mile down you'll see a dog baggy station, so I guess at that point you've arrived. Anyways the view here is also spectacular and they have benches. This us always a big plus to me and I wish all beaches had benches! The Dog loved it and thought everything smelled intriguing. Overall a 4 star review. Needs better signage, but a great place to spend some time. Would I return? Absolutely!

This park is local for me. The campgrounds are kept up very well. They have a Store for your…read moreconvenience. The lake is beautiful and they keep the sand clean. I like to sit in the wooden chairs in front of the Store and just kick back. With my license plate sticker, they just wave me on through. They had to do a lot of work after the freeze when all the branches came down so they haven't been as available while they do the cleanup. I'll always be back here.

There's a cute little logging museum along the way. I loved the beautiful juxtaposition of the fall leaves with the pines and hemlocks. The path is fully paved, and a nice walk for a quick stop along I75 between Ann Arbor and up north. I'd love to go back there.

The campground was clean, the spaces are not cramped together and more than a few have lake views. There is running water, pit toilets, and steps down to the lake, and each campsite has a picnic table, fire ring, and parking spot. A few are against the forest, some are in the middle of the site, and the others kind of by the lake (these were my favorite, nothing like waking up in the morning and looking out on a clear blue body of water). Overall I was very happy with this campground, it seemed underused, which was kind of surprising given the beauty and quietude of the area. My only complain was that it had a lot of yellow jackets that wanted to eat my lunch more than I did. Bring spray or something, you're probably going to want it. Or maybe it was just my site, who knows. You can fish in the lake, it's stocked with trout. The water also seemed very clean, I almost went for a swim (it wasn't that cold either). There is also a day-use area, so you can just picnic or fish if you feel like it. To get here you have to drive down S Stephan Bridge Rd and will then take a left - keep your eyes peeled for the sign. There is also a sign on MI-72 which will point you in the right direction.

We stayed in cottage #14 with our dog. Super clean, adorable tiny house. We discovered the paved path across the highway to walk or ride bikes either direction. We had a fantastic dinner at Nomad in Bay Harbor. Our trip to Petoskey is short but wonderful!

There is a nice clubhouse with a fitness room, billiards room, theater and laundry facility. There is a dog park and pool as well as basketball and pickle ball courts. Everything is clean and landscaped nicely. We were very happy with our stay at the Sun Outdoors RV Park in Panama City Beach and now this one. We may have to seek out Sun Outdoors campgrounds for wherever we decide to travel!

Ok, I might be a little old to be writing this review, but I just can't leave Maplehurst without a…read morelittle love. I started going to this camp when I was only eight years old. I went until I was sixteen and each year I stayed the entire time of eight weeks. Maplehurst was definitely the scene of some my greatest moments of all time. Someitmes, when I try to explain it to other people I always come back to one word, mystical. I could go into glorified details about the late nights, the first kiss, the first friend lost but every child in their life goes through these shape setting stages...I was just lucky enough to have them at Maplehurst. So, even when times were bad, and life felt tough I can always look back at those moments with fondness because of Maplehurst. I've met the best of friends there, and it seriously shaped me into the person I am today. Growing up in a cookie cutter town Maplehurst was my escape and allowed me to meet all kinds of people and experience "life on my own". I am not going to pretend that Maplehurst taught me hiking techniques, and survival skills for the mountains but it made my childhood happy, and it made my summers unforgettable. Maplehurst...I owe it all to you.

Not your typical campground set up like all the trailers in a row right on top of each other in the sun. There's lots of trees with shade. The bath house was very clean, with showers and washer/dryer. There's a pool and a jump pad, playground. Lots of stuff for the kids to do, and a lake right down the road. The camp store had lots of stuff you might need and the Ladies running it were great! Well maintained campground.

Things for kids to do like a pool, jumping pad, etc. We used the laundry room. 4 washers and dryers. $1.50 each. It was kept clean. Would stay here again. We paid $75 a night.
