I have been to this location on two occasions, and both were stupendous. The first occasion was for a surprise birthday party and my friends and I were able to rent the room next-door to surprise our good friend for her 40th birthday. We had a lot of ladies there with lots of chitchat and talks, and the waitress and staff were great in meeting all of our numerous requests. That evening I got the fish taco special, and was very happy with my selection. The second time I've been to this wonderful barbecue place was recently to celebrate another friends birthday. This might, in fact be the Birthday place! Lol We came the day after Christmas and had a wonderful time in a relaxed atmosphere . This place has been around for a while...but our first time to try it. Here's our thoughts: 1. The turkey: This was the best thing we had at the place - it was excellent. The smoke effect on the turkey was just the right amount to highlight the turkey flavor - but (not) overpower it and take away the delicate taste. And the moisture to the meat....quite impressive. 2. The pit beans: These beans were a bit different flavoring.....but very good. Has bits of meat, pepper and onions....which gave them a good tasting flavor! 3. Hot link: sliced and had a bit of a grilled cook done to the sausage. These were ok....had an ok flavor and texture to the sausage. Not very hot flavor to the sausage. 4. A big miss: burnt ends. Look at the pic - see All the sauce - it's drowned. A fair amount of bouncy chew on a number of pieces. Certainly edible - but where is the classic form crust and rich beef flavor coming thru? Uh...(not) on these burnt ends. 5. Smoked Mac & Cheese: We tried this side upgrade - and it was good in spots....then way Smokey in other spots/too much smoke taste on certain surfaces of the Mac and cheese. Overall, also had a fairly dry texture. Do I need to go back? No, not really. I would go back for a turkey sandwich. But otherwise, head down the road a bit...and get to Hog Tide in Aurora. Heady's was recommended to me by a local and it absolutely did not disappoint. The fried mushrooms and onion rings were a staple starter. The staff is absolutely welcoming and willing to provide samples or recommendations about anything listed on the menu. Everytime you come into this place it feels like family! the BBQ is like Texas BBQ, the Ribs are smoked to perfection.

The service and atmosphere was great. The staff was friendly and checked on us often. The food, however left much to be desired. We ordered pulled pork sandwiches and onion rings. The onion rings were greasy and burned. The pork was ok, not the best I have had. We ordered a fried pie to go. It was overcooked and greasy as well. It did not look anything like the photo. We ate half between the two of us and threw the rest away. We like to support local businesses but I would not get back. read more

This BBQ joint doesn't appear to be anything special looking from the outside. Once you enter, it has a warm atmosphere and the staff is friendly. I have had their ribs in the past which were excellent but I thought I would try the catfish. I was pleasantly surprised when served three delicious filets with hush puppies and fabulous onion rings. First time in. We had great service. The ribs are good. Ho mah gosh... I do not like new places for BBQ because I don't want a dud. This place has it going on with the ribs. Thick, tender, St. Louis style with good sauce on the table. Not a fan of the hot but the regular sauce was good. I was impressed with the ribs. We got two sides - okra and beans. The beans were a bit soupy for me but still good with little chunks of meat and BBQ spice. We ordered a two meat platter but never again. We will get the 1/4 or 1/2 slab in the future. Been here many times and will return again and again. If BBQ is mentioned in my house my son in law say lets go to Republic. The food is always good and severs always pleasant and tend to your needs. We have ordered the sampler for the 3 of us and there is always food to take home. Have been there with a group of ladies several times and have ordered different sandwiches and they have a very good amount of meat on them and the sides are generous also. But oh my the bread pudding is something to end your dining experience with. If not to eat there, then take it home for later. read more

I always seem to eat here in off hours, but I really enjoy it. They have great sandwiches which have different combinations of meats. They can cost quite a bit -I think the Train Wreck is $13 but it is big enough to feed me for an entire day. The bbq nachos are really good as well.
