We went to Flat Creek on a Thursday afternoon in Republic, Mo. They were fairly busy mid afternoon but we were seated right off and our staff were right there to get us started with drinks. My wife and I both ordered fried catfish and onion rings. Our salads were fresh and delicious, dressings on the sides croutons were crisp and good. We got our meal before we had finished our salads. Our food was delicious, hot, fresh, crisp. Our waitress was attentive with drink refills, etc. and box's and a check when we were ready to go. If you are considering it, try it today. Though we're fairly new to the Republic area, we've been fans of Flat Creek for a long time. The place is big but comfortable and everyone is very friendly. My wife and I went for an early dinner and so she could have the prime rib dinner special. I decided to go with the chicken fried chicken again. We like to sit in the bar area for the TVs and Candace, our favorite server. And she didn't disappoint . Well I was a little concerned when our entrees came within about five minutes after getting our salads. It takes a while for chicken to fry and for the prime rib to cook and rest as well. We felt our entrees weren't cooked fresh for our order. The flavors were good but neither were as good as we've grown to expect. We didn't say anything to our server but won't order them again. A neat place in the middle of a small town with delicious food and scrumptious drinks. The prices are reasonable and not over the top. The staff is always welcoming and attentive. They have different plates to choose from. My favorite appetizer is the fried pickles and their Mac and cheese is to die for. We usually always ask for a large tub to go. read more

fried chicken thigh and breast were raw. service was slacking. helpful but got all of our orders wrong. we had a larger table, 8 people but made i very easy on the server. gravy on top of chicken was cold. baked potato was cold you couldnt even mash it up. one of us asked for wings with sause on side and the sause was not on the side it was all over the wings. didnt get our side salads until after our food was already out. ordered chicken strips togo after we were done with our food and waited about 20 minutes and they still were not out. never eating here again. gets 1 star bc i can't give 0. read more

Eaten here 4 times in last 2 years. Each meal has been either fair once or poor 3 times. Today drink came after meal. Burger came and had no lettuce, onions, or tomato. Server had to get that while burger sat on table. Onion rings were cold and had sat in the kitchen obviously. Probably last time for me which is to bad. read more

We had a horrible experience about a year and a half ago with the food being cold to the service not being good at all. I am very glad we came in today and had Derek as our server, he really turned around our whole entire outlook we have on the restaurant now. Thank you Derek! Tried to go to the Himalayan Grill after a ballgame but they were closing for some bizarre Nepalese holiday. We hit Flat Creek because we were familiar with the chain from their Cape Fair site which we used to boat to back in the day. The ambiance is upbeat & lively. Our waitress was simply outstanding: Outgoingly friendly & efficient. Customers in our general vicinity were happily gorging...and that seems to be the thing to do here. The food is good, no question. The portions are beyond ample so you'll likely get your money's worth. But everything on the extensive menu seemed so heavy: Lots of fried and other artery-clogging but taste bud pleasing entrees. I ended up ordering the Blackened Grilled Catfish with the Fried Okra & Hush Puppies. The wife had the Fried Catfish, my sister the Fried Chicken with veggies, with the granddaughter having a Steak with Fries as usual. It was all good but too much food so we took two boxes home. Note: The Prickly Pear Margarita is awesome. But it is pink & served in a tall, flute-like glass: A bit effeminate looking. The waitress laughed as I recounted my uncomfortableness with the presentation as she couldn't count how many gentlemen had told her the same thing. You want to satisfy hunger with a tasty meal? We recently ate at Flatcreek. We had the pulled pork plate. Food was good especially for a busy day. We splurged and ordered dessert to go. I got the German chocolate cake. It was the worst cake I have ever eaten. The cake was not German chocolate but more like devils food. It was very dry and not edible. There was traditional coconut pecan icing between the layers that was good, but it was topped with an overly sweet chocolate icing. The slice was $9. I ate 3 bites and threw the rest in the trash. I have written well over 1000 reviews, and have very rarely rated a restaurant 1-star, but this restaurant earned this review. Customer Service is one of the most important parts of a dining experience, and I would give a zero for Customer Service. We had a large party and were seated rather quickly. Half of our partner received there order, while another 1/3 of our party waited over 15 minutes to receive their order, and the remainder of our party waited another 5 minutes. I ordered the all-you-can-eat fried chicken, since it was one of the specialities. My order was the last received. One of the members of my party ordered the brisket, and they were very unpleased. I tasted the brisket, it was very dry, tough and drenched in BBQ sauce. Eleven members were in my party, our server never offered a drink refill to anyone. I asked for a refill twice, for her to finally provide me with a refill. The sides I ordered were good, when I asked for another piece of chicken, I was informed they didn't have the portion of chicken I requested. If your skin has melanin in it, I'd stay away from this place. I shoulda known better than to come to Republic. Tonight, I came in with a party of 7 and the waitress spilled water on our table and a guest's phone because she wasn't paying attention. Nbd. The reason for 1-star is the micro aggression of the waitress waiting over my shoulder for me to pay the tab. Meanwhile I got full drinks at the table. Girl you coulda cleaned my table off, asked for to-go or refills instead of interrupting my conversation and asking me if I'm paying with a card. I was thinking about coming back for a pork tenderloin before I left back to Oregon on Tuesday, but after tonight that will NOT be happening. We usually love Flat Creek. Generous portions, friendly staff. But tonight we a bit of a miss. We got the grilled catfish, NOT blackened. It was so salty we could not eat it. We sent it back. Got 4 more pieces. It was blackened. Still too salty, but we scraped add much as we could off and ate it anyway. Green beans, baked potato, and generous side salad were all good. The fish was moist. Wish we could have enjoyed it. We will come back, but will probably have the chicken. read more

Atmosphere - Country Cool. The restaurant has a great country barbecue feel. There are tons of great, nostalgic signs everywhere. The restaurant has lots of seating that includes booths and tables. Service - Excellent. In viewing previous reviews, much was said about the great service and I completely agree. Our server was attentive and friendly. We were made to feel welcome and appreciated. Food - Very Good. The restaurant is know for its catfish. However, I prefer barbecue and so I ordered the beef brisket dinner with mashed potatoes, Corn on the Cob, and a garden salad. The salad was huge and fresh. The brisket portion was also ample and extremely tender (I cut most of it with a fork). The barbecue sauce was good too. The corn was just OK. First time guest while we were in town visiting friends. This restaurant is huge! I love the decor, except for all the animal heads hung everywhere. LOL. There are many booths with seating for large parties. The menu is very diverse, with appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees. Our server was very efficient and brought our drinks quickly. I had honed in on the pulled pork dinner and you got 2 sides. Double Mac and cheese for me. One person in our party ordered a salad, which was very large for a side salad, but he had only started eating it when our entrees arrived. Just not enough time to enjoy the salad. For the price of the entree, I thought it was a good deal. There was plenty of pulled pork and the double Mac and cheese was plenty. The pork was good, maybe a little overdone, and could have used more sauce, but had great flavor. The Mac and cheese was good and topped with bread crumbs. The glass of iced tea was huge, which was great since we didn't need to wait for refills. Service was very good for our entire meal. I would definitely return. read more

It's a bit loud, but the atmosphere is kind of interesting. The food was excellent. I had the rib eye which was over seasoned but done perfectly. My wife had the pork tenderloin and it was roughly the size of a car tire. Wait staff and management were excellent and the place seemed fairly clean. They could do a little dusting up high and change some light bulbs but it's not very accessible. It's worth trying, but you will not get out cheaply. read more

Service was very good! The restaurant always look busy but they still can get u seated quickly. The potato skins are my favorite, its so soft and cheesy and fills with a lot of bacon pieces. Wings were as huge and flavorful. I decided to try out their country fried steak and let say the portion is super huge. Its not my favorite from this place, but its not bad. The breading are too much, I don't know how to explain. Still taste ok though. The shrimp was delicious with the mac and cheese. They have other items on the menu that I will try next time. I also order the shrimp and crab leg boil and it was so good, I forgot to take a picture. This spot is good for big groups and parties to come for lunch and dinner. read more

We had an event here last week and it was great service and a great experience! We had about 60 guests so they gave us the private room off to the side. We were able to hook up our AV stuff to play a presentation and video. The food was delicious and the wait staff was so nice and accommodating. I ordered the chicken tenders with fries and Mac and cheese and I could see a lot of people ordered the catfish and looked quite pleased. Three cheers for their servers who are so kind! read more

We waited one hour for our food, and it wasn't even busy. Once our food arrived you could tell it had been sitting for over 30 minutes. The rice was very dry, steak was very hard, and Mac and cheese had been sitting so long that there was a layer of dry cheese. Also they completely forgot the main entry of the dish. My husband and I decided to try something new last night for supper, he tried to surprise me and take me to one of my favorite restaurants, and sadly it was closed. That's when we noticed Flat Creek the sign said Steak, Seafood, BBQ & Chicken so we decided to give it a try...SOOO glad we did. As soon as we walked through the front doors we were greeted right away and seated immediately. The staff that we could see were all smiling and seemed to really enjoy their jobs and as they walked by us they asked if we needed anything. Very impressive. My husband ordered the 3 piece catfish dinner and I had the fried chicken dinner, both meals came with 3 sides, and the Catfish dinner came with 2 hush puppies and the Chicken dinner came with a wonderful dinner roll. They have both booths and tables, and the atmosphere was really interesting and fun. It did get a bit loud as it got busier no big deal that's anywhere you go. They have all kinds of things on the walls which kept me busy looking at them while we waited for our meals to come. Our waitress was super sweet and very attentive, I was taking a bit longer to decide since this was the first time we had ever been there. I apologized for taking so long and explained it was our visit she told me to take all the time I needed and came back about 5 minutes later, she brought our drinks right away. My mom wanted to go out for dinner after church so we made the excellent choice to go to Flat Creek. My mom has dined here plenty of times but it was the first visit for me, my daughter and my granddaughter. I really like the decor, the friendliness of their staff and that Sundays all you can eat option includes catfish filets and chicken. My daughter opted for an open faced brisket sandwich which she said was really good. Me and my mom both went for all you can eat fish and chicken. We both selected mashed potatoes with brown gravy for one of our sides. The well seasoned gravy was a hit. When I'm in town again I would definitely enjoy dining here again.
