For me, this place is a total and utter fail. I had purchased a Yelp Deal -- $50 for $80 worth of service. I figured it was an OK deal and I'm always up to having a massage after long and stressful days and weeks in the grind. After reading stellar reviews via Yelp about Healing Arts Touch and the owner -- Adil -- I purchased it. I called this past Tuesday and he was able to get me in yesterday (Thursday) at 6pm. Sweet. Just a heads up, the room he has is in a Martial Arts Studio and it is kind of difficult to find. I walked in the wrong place at first and was redirected to the right place. It seems a little sketchy, but it is ok. Adil was on time and friendly. He introduced himself and let me know he'd be back in the room in a few minutes after I changed. I was a little hesitant to have a male massage therapist, but I was able to put that aside after a few minutes. The massage started off great, than slowly got worse and worse as the massage slowly disappeared and I ended up pretty much getting a lecture from Adil about life. I felt that Adil was picking on me -- asking about my health, if I take any medications, have any health problems, how I'm not taking care of myself, etc, etc. Since I'm usually open to my new and current health issue if people ask and I feel it is related to what I'm doing (which, by the way, has affected me greatly since I was diagnosed this past January and am on 4 different meds for it currently). When I opened up to Adil about it since it causes me a great amount of stress and tension in my neck and back, he was all over me. He told me that I brought on what I have on my own (he claims it isn't biological or environmental -- that I solely brought it on myself from years of "abusing" my body by eating dairy products, processed food and meat). He kept telling me how unhealthy my body is and that I'm slowly disintegrating at age 27. He pretty much said, in so many words, if I keep up my current state of living that I wouldn't live very long and just slowly die. He kept asking if I want to live and lecturing on how to change to make my heart, mind and body healthy. He also pretty much said that I need to learn to love myself and be more accepting of everything. Right, dude, as if I'm not trying to do that already. Adil also mentioned that I shouldn't listen to my doctor's about my current health issues -- that I shouldn't take any meds for it and just learn how to heal myself and my problem will go away on its own in 6 months. He also gave me some tips on what to read up on and rent on Netflix. *sigh* For a massage that was supposed to be relaxing, I left more depressed than when I came in. I paid $50 plus a $10 tip for this?! Never again. If I wanted to get lectured about my current health state, I'd have gone elsewhere than to get a "relaxing" massage, or at least have gotten my mind in the right mind set pre massage. Just be forewarned if you come here! You may have a negative experience, like me. I'd much rather go to a corporate chain and at least leave happy! Cheers! read more

Okay so its seems as this place is great from the reviews I read. I bought a deal on livingsocial for a hour long massage. I walked in and it was a bit odd since its in a martial arts studio but in the corner was a very nice room decorated to relax you. Adil was very nice and we started out having a nice conversation while he started my massage. So far so good. About 10 min after we stopped talking his hands stopped moving. I waited several min, which felt like an eternity and moved around a bit which is when he WOKE UP! You know that jilt that can happen when your startled? It happened. I kept laying there thinking..okay he realized he just fell asleep while giving me a massage so he wont fall asleep again. NO..I was WRONG! Twenty min. went by while he was barely moving his fingers in the exact same spot on my neck. It was sooo uncomfortable. He kept jerking himself awake since his head was falling forward and all his weight was pushing on me. Finally I got the balls to say, while laying there, ummm...so I know you're sleeping and this is not comfortable for me so I would like to leave. Thats when he told me he was meditating!! When I think about it now its actually pretty funny but at the time, not cool. Even if he was meditating all good, but where is the massage?! I had a wonderful massage! I came in with knots all over my back and he really went to work, knowing exactly were my trouble spots were without a word spoken. This was a wonderful deep tissue experience! He was kind and gentle where needed and paid special attention on tight areas. This was one of the best deep tissue massages I have ever dad, hands down. I bought a living social for my first massage with Adil, and I have to say that the minute the massage started I knew that I was going to get a fabulous massage! I like a very firm massage that is therapeutic for my body, and I felt it helping right away. The place is in the back of a karate studio, and yes, you are not walking into a fancy spa, but I don't go for that, I go for a great massage, and that is what you will get for sure. But like the others reviewed, the room is comforting, peaceful, and the table is warm and cozy. Adil is very intuitive and has a way of knowing what you are going through, and what you're body needs. He also isn't one of those masseuses who jabbers away the whole time you are trying to relax. He is quiet, respectful and knows when to talk and when not to. I sent my husband for a massage and he was fighting me on it, because he didn't want to go, but afterwards he said, "That was the best massage EVER...sign me up for more!" He was seriously impressed too. Being a guy, my husband could care less that the place isn't fancy, in fact, he preferred it! More manly I guess! I wanted to address what some others wrote about Adil doling out too much advice and analyzing too much. He actually gave me some stellar advice, and I took it and ran with it. I have never had a massage before but received a gift cert and recommendation from my sister. The process is as follows: down to underwear(privacy given for undressing as in a Dr's. office), lay face down under blanket on massage table, receive massage. Soft meditative type music was played and the massage lotion used was very lightly scented which I appreciate. Not into patchouli-laden atmosphere. He worked my back, legs, arms, hands, feet, shoulders and scalp and seemed to know where the tensest spots were. Very in tune and knowledgeable, it seemed to me. It hurt a little sometimes but I think that is because I am very tense, physically, especially in my shoulders and neck. Once he had worked out the "knots", those areas felt great though. Little bit of light chit chat here and there, I think he lets the client take the lead. I was content to just lay there and be massaged and not say anything. A pleasant and different experience and I felt great when I left. He gave me a glass of water to drink on the way out. I would come back except that I am moving out of state this week. read more

I was excited to try this place after seeing great reviews but was a little nervous as others have pointed out because there is only one option, a male masseuse. When arriving at his business, I was looking for a place that was open and easy to find however his room is tucked in the back of a mixed martial art dojo. Once entering the back of the dojo, where his massage room that's dimly lit is, he told me to go ahead and enter his room and get fully undressed (which I didnt). I went to go see Adil yesterday for an hour massage. Adil did a great job in making sure I was comfortable. The massage table has a heat warmer which was amazing and you can hear a water fountain in the room which helps with relaxation. Once the massage was over I could almost feel the knots lifting from my back and neck. Through the day I have felt these knots in my back pop. The tension in my back has gone away and I feel AMAZING! I've been to numerous massage therapists but this is the first time I've been to a reiki healer. I love that he doesn't use the search and destroy method and teaches me how to control my mind which is connected to my body and therefore pain. I've tried this so many times in the past with different behavior therapies and wasn't successful. ADD here:/ ...but I am finally having a breakthrough and I have Adil to thank for it. IMO..I also wanted to add the importance of a great physical therapist and MRI if you suffer from chronic pain. If you have one that isn't working find another.
