I cannot say enough how fantastic the experience has been in spite of the circumstances that prompted it being not so fun and actually pretty scary. Ashley has been phenomenal in helping me navigate my injury and I cannot say enough about both her technical skill as a practitioner and her level of caring as a person. She also was a great sounding board as I worked with an orthopedist and a PT. She supported me as I needed to advocate for myself when my pain was minimized. Of all the treatment options, this is the one that I've chosen to continue. The space is comfortable, clean, and relaxing. I've never had an issue finding street parking. And I appreciate that I can buy multiple sessions at once to save some money. Overall, it has been years since I've seen a massage therapist I've felt this comfortable with and I cannot recommend Sacred Space enough.

To start, the space where you receive your massage is in a very zen, cool space filled with things to help you relax and feel comfortable. It is located inside a mixed use building so there were several points where we heard people talking and yelling during the massage, so that was a bit annoying but not Joe's fault. If you're used to a spa like massage, this is not the place for you. That being said, I've had massages in all different types of spaces so I could get over the noise and still relax. The techniques he used were very unique and many I hadn't experienced before. I felt very loose and relaxed afterwards and noticed later that night I was extremely emotional so massage must have worked out a lot of emotions and built up tension. It was a very relaxing experience and the ambient music was perfect. Joe made sure to make sure I was comfortable many times and didn't talk much during the massage which I appreciated, as some LMTs are chatty when you're trying to relax. He also started off the session by explaining his approach and techniques which I really appreciated and helped make me feel comfortable. You won't have to worry about parking, as there is ample space throughout the entire area. The MTOB office has a few rooms available for different massage services. I've been in once for a couples massage and once most recently for a cupping service. 10 minutes of cupping is said to be the equivalent of 90 minutes deep tissue massage in relation to releasing toxins. My therapist Maria told me that she tries to not leave marks on her clients but I requested that she go hard on me, marks and all. Maria has a lot of awareness and is conscious of her clients' reactions during a treatment. She knows when to go hard and when to scale it back, without you having to say a word. This, to me, is a sign of a true professional. The treatment rooms were very luxurious, calm, peaceful, and the perfect temperature. I enjoyed the signature massage oil and eucalyptus aromatherapy which immediately calmed me down, as I was a total spaz on my last visit. One of the hard things about spa treatments for me is jumping back into the world after experiencing such relaxation. Leaving the MTOB facility and stepping into the adorable, wooded parking lot was such a gentle way to ease back into things without losing my serenity.

Today, however, was revelatory! I had a 90 minute Swedish massage with LAKIETA, the owner, at her location. I can now move my neck. The space is calming and clean. I felt immediately comfortable with Lakieta, which is saying something. You have to be careful about who you let put their hands on you! She is amazingly intuitive, careful, methodical, and deliberate. I think I zoned out at one point, which only happens when you feel safe. She took the time to do an intake, and made sure I was okay afterwards. Yes, I booked my next five appointments before I left. You should too. She's a freaking unicorn!
