I was given a brief health history form to fill out, and I was able to specify what I'm hoping to get out of the massage, any injuries, etc. I enjoyed the opportunity to actually discuss with Julia, the therapist, which areas I'm hoping to improve....since I do have a right hamstring tendon injury and stiff neck. Not only did she help rehabilitate my leg, but she zapped stress in various trigger points (forearm, wrists, feet)....in places where I had long ignored. She also tipped me some advice on how to manage levels of tension especially in the feet as it does leave one prone to hamstring injuries. I really appreciated how she applied her experience and knowledge during our session. I do plan to come again. The amount of attention she puts into her client makes coming here worthwhile. Halotherapy involves the use of salt vapor to help treat respiratory issues primarily (allergies, asthma ,bronchitis etc) . At Samana, you are taken into a spacious room with a salt brick wall , it is darkened except for the colored lights-you can pick your color . The room has several reclining chairs so pick your spot and recline in preparation for a 45 minute session. The staff will explain the process and what to expect. You will literally relax for 45 minutes (it is easy to fall asleep and that is completely fine) while breathing in the salt vapor . On my last visit to the spa, I had a sore throat , I must tell you that after one session I already felt tremendous improvement ! One of the staff mentioned he was able to rid himself of a sinus infection after 3 visits-I believe it ! The spa is very clean and calming, the staff/owners are so welcoming and friendly. They also offer massage treatments and yoga classes . I attended an "I can't do yoga" , yoga class and it was wonderful ! Such a great concept for people who "can't do yoga" . This class while challenging somewhat, was overall very doable for a beginner . At the time of this review, your first visit is 1/2 price, so $20 for a 45 minute session. I look forward to my next visit as seasonal allergies are in my near future, and are not my jam.

I also took the time to fill out a form for my massage therapist and she never looked at it, she just told me to hand it to the cashier when I left. The masseuse did not ask me if I enjoyed the pressure of the massage nor asked for any feedback. It was more like a fancy rub down for around 45 minutes in a warm bed. The cost was too high for a rushed 45 minutes and marketed as a 60 minute luxurious experience. The woman who massaged my husband spoke to him more than my therapist did, and so he was happier with his massage. Upon entering, the front staff were quite helpful. You left the desk with all the information you'd to prepare you. The rooms are clean and up to date with TV set-ups, well tiled updated bathrooms and the like. Lacking a full amenity restaurant, it even has a breakfast bar set-up with particularly good breakfast items, including bagels and coffee. This hotel has much going for it and seems committed to constantly improving.
