I came down to Delray Beach, FL and into Healing Properties in April, 2015. I was leaving my second treatment center at the time, and I felt beaten, hopeless, and confused. I thought I had everything under control and did not know how I let it go to this point again. A college drop out, and a drug addict, I literally had no sense of direction and no idea where my life was going. A therapist at the treatment center I was just at recommended Healing Properties, stating how he knew of previous clients that were still there and still sober. That ignited a little bit of hope in me, but I still did not know what to expect. I had no friends or family in South Florida, but I knew that I needed to change something and start taking suggestions. Healing Properties welcomed me with open arms and I almost immediately felt a connection with some tenants at the property at that time (I eventually moved out with some of those tenants, who I now consider my brothers). The only relationships I had back home (Bucks County) were drug/alcohol related; I felt the only way I knew how to build a relationship with people were through drugs, alcohol, and bad decisions. The Residential Manager at the time, and a lot of the tenants, showed me a new way. I started building relationships through laughter and fellowship. We all had something in common here; we all wanted to achieve long term sobriety. Most importantly, Healing Properties urged me to immediately get a sponsor and start on the steps, which ultimately allowed me to start a relationship with God. This was all pretty new to me because I never actually put my all into the steps or anything the people in the rooms suggested me to do. Looking back, I can't believe how low I let myself go before I finally became willing enough to just turn myself over to this program. I was always told that I could do anything if I put my mind to it, but my alcohol and drug problem was something I realized I would never be able to control off my own willpower. What started off as shame and disappointment because of my addiction, turned into humbleness and gratefulness because my addiction got me down to South Florida where I was able to build a strong relationship with God and other people in my life, where we help each other grow emotionally and spiritually. Healing Properties and all the tenants showed me how to be a responsible human being again, how to love again, and the importance of carrying certain principles out in all my affairs, and for that I am forever grateful. read more

Kurt Allen & Tim S. run this place and being investigated by Delray Police, Palm Beach County Sheriff's Dept and Tim is being indicted for healthcare insurance fraud in 2007. It will come as no surprise on the HP website, you will NOT see Kurt's picture/name etc and same with Tim S. They are running in secret from the IRS, criminal warrants amongst other things. There is massive turn over here & yes, it's a double dip rip off scheme. You pay 800.00 to get in; they say two week in advance so you can relax. No- two weeks in advance so they can test you 2 days after moving in and try to pocket the whole 800.00 & get a new guy in and pocket his 800.00 as well. If that doesn't work, don't worry. They are keeping a long list of folks calling in and just waiting for a bed. They keep track incoming calls and build the list. You will get kicked out 1 to 3 days after paying your future one week rent. The reasons can be anything they can rationalize- "The guys don't like you." "You're in a different stage than the guys here." blah, blah, blah. More lies..... Another trick: you get a 3 man bed to start "It's our graduate system." No, it's an extra 1000.00 per house which is 22k per month for HP!! FARR disallows this but HP doesn't care. FARR isn't a certification at all; it's an association controlled and paid for by folks like HP. I'd call Donny's in DelRay Beach or check the FARR list. Kurt Allen is a total crook. You will never see him at a AA meeting, Crossroads or doing any kind of recovery work. He's a barrel of manipulations, money mongering and phone baloney lies. read more

Most of these negative reviews are taking off by paid subscriptions by Tim, owner and Kurt Allen. This place is horribly managed. High entry fee, politics, noise & young kids straight out of rehab that are living week to week on Mom and Dad's Western Union money. Kurt's promise of getting your deposit back after step 5 is untrue. He likes to use phrases (his favorite), "What's your part in the situation?" A typical manipulative remark to make Kurt feel justified while stealing your money. You will be kicked out after you pay your following week and Kurt always has a list of move in's so he'll double dip on your pre payment and newbie coming the front door- double up on deposits and double up on weekly rent- straight in Tim's pocket and Kurt's pocket. Another classic scam here is the one room with 3 beds in each unit. You'l hear from Kurt it's his reward system when you graduate to a normal room with 2 beds. ha. ha. It pockets an extra 225.00 per week per unit and times 20 units and times 12 months and wow! Tim has been regularly investigated by the State Attorney's office task force for Palm Beach under the Palm Beach Sheriff Dept. He is no stranger to scamming folks in desperation and in need. He and Kurt have the predator mindset and know how call the police and pretend to be the victim of harassment when you ask for your deposit back. This place means more to me than the number of characters yelp would allow... As a result of blindly stumbling into this place, my life has been drastically changed, influenced, impacted and altered in a way that is only explicable to those who have been blessed to be a part of this miraculous community. This is by no means a treatment center where you're "loved back to health" and patted on the back because "you made it here." Instead it's a "meet in the middle, we will work as hard as you want to in order to help you" kind of place. With that being said, the term boot camp could be taken as intimidating or hard but that can't be further from the truth. It's not a touchy feely treatment center but once you're there you get a sense of love, understanding and compassion that drug addicts struggle to find while getting high. The small staff makes it feel more personable and intimate and there isn't a single one of them that won't take time from their hectic day to make you feel welcomed, to help, and be there in a way that I can honestly say I've never found anywhere else. You'll get a promise here that is equivalent to a informercial at 3 am which promises that are complete LIES. I lived here for 2 months & was scammed by Kurt on my deposit and weekly rent. I paid the prior Friday was kicked out that Monday and of course, they had a new person in the bed. My personal items were packed and taken to the other house and my belongings were in garbage bags. This place charged 250.00 per week & you start in a 3 man, crowded room. They lie to you and tell you it's a graduate system for you to feel accomplished. The truth is obvious- it's an extra 1000.00 per unit. Kicking people out is very lucrative and if you do the math on 5 of these per month you're talking about an extra 120k per year on top of the 510,000.00 they make per year. Worse yet, they file as a non profit and pay no taxes- known as tax fraud and misfiling with the IRS (which is a felony by the way). I'd look on Craigslist or talk with Donny's but don't stay here at this place which is nothing but lies. They won't like you unless you believe the lies and take the bait. read more

This place is run by con artist Kurt Allen. After getting his entire body tattooed with no job to accept him after prison time in Georgia, like many convicted felons, he ran to Florida to run a sober living house. Mr Kurt Allen and the owners who are also convicted insurance fraud individuals, have a advertising scam of replacing current residents with new residents and getting a double deposit and double rent in the same week. Here is how it works: you pay deposit & ahead for rent which is one or two weeks. They lie to you about 2 bed room and you get 3 bed room so they can get an extra 1000.00 per month from each unit. FARR rules in Florida say no 3 person rooms but HP lies on quarter reports every time. The other twist, when Kurt and the crooks who run the joint need heroin money or money for another house, they kick you out on Monday after paying on prior Friday. They get your rent and deposit plus the new person's rent and deposit. They do 5 or 10 of these per month and the annual revenue booms. read more

Healing properties is not a place to trust your sobriety. I was told all kinds of things by Kurt & Tim, the owners and managers, they simply weren't true in terms of what I experienced. Kurt kept my deposit after agreeing to return it when I did my steps. He said I could travel for work while there. I went to Seattle and then he texted saying I was gone too long. I came back to my bed being filled and Kurt called the police to have me evicted by the Delray Police Department. He had charged double rent for that week after I payed on the website. He also pocketed my deposit along with the new person. They say they are FARR certified. They have many complaints for calling police and submitting their FARR info. Tim had issue with local DA on insurance billing back when he owned a rehab in 2008. I'd recommend you check the FARR list online. There are many houses in Delray Beach and West Palm, Boca etc. This is not a quality environment and money is there goal. read more

Healing Properties, a sober living community that welcomed me with open arms and allowed me to feel at home, I came here fresh out of treatment, and right off the bat before i even stepped foot into the doors I knew this place was going to be the stepping stone and foundation to the beginning of my road to recovery. The living accommadations inside and out are very nice and efficient, I more so enjoyed the camaraderie of the men here, the relationships I have built here and every time I come back to visit and walk through these doors it brings me right back to where i first started and i feel at home here, I wouldn't go to any other sober living community but this one. Not to mention the location is fantastic, 1 mile walking distance to the beach, and about a 5 minute walk from downtown delray, if your looking to have fun in recovery and build awesome friendships along the way, I highly recommend Healing Properties. read more

When I first came down to Florida I was told I would be going to Recovery Boot Camp and I had serious reservations because of the name "boot camp". This was a huge misperception because RBC ended up being a place I now call home and have family there. The staff truly cares and they all speak from experience! This program gave me a foundation in sobriety that set in motion the path to permanent recovery. The rules are strict and the living quarters always have to be spotless. Recovery Boot Camp teaches and mentors men to be responsible and honest in all aspects of life, to go out as sober men and create a new life. Honestly, the best decision I could have ever made for my life was to come to RBC and follow the program as suggested. I can't speak highly enough about the high standard RBC operates at and expects us to do the same!!! I will always call RBC home! read more

I lived at Healing Properties for 9 months when I first came to Florida. This place was exactly what I needed at the time even though I didn't realize it then. Healing Properties helped me grow in so many different ways. I finally met people that went through the struggle of addiction for years like myself and we're motivated for recovery. This was the biggest reason why I wanted to really get sober this time. I continue to grow everyday by practicing the principles that were taught to me at HP. I really love this place and called it home for 9 months. Whenever I know anyone struggling, this is the first place I call because if they were able to help me get sober and stay sober then they can help anyone. I got out of treatment February 2015. I have lived in Florida previously and knew of healing properties and the solid reputation in the community. I wanted to do things differently and decided to finally take a suggestion and came to Healing Properties. Since the first moment I stepped into the courtyard, I felt like I was home. I quickly began to see why the alumni that always stopped by referred to Healing Properties as "hallowed grounds". The guys were extremely welcoming and guided me, a lost puppy, into this "program of action" that everybody around me seemed to be working. I went to healing properties in a hopeless state.. I couldn't stop using drugs and alcohol no matter how bad I wanted and needed to. I had been to several other halfway houses in the past and they were all the same. Mostly filled with staff who don't "get it" and clients who have no desire to get clean. Upon walking through the doors at healing properties I was blown away by the compassion and overall positive attitude present in both clients and staff. As a former tenant and employee of Healing Properties, I can honestly say this place saved my life. I was a broken man before arriving there, and after my stay, I walked away head held high, with a desire to want to live again. I started working for the company a year or so later and had the opportunity to recreate the same environment that was in place when I was living there. I'am a PROUD alumni of Healing Properties, this is by far the best sober living in south Florida. I came here completely broken without any real hope of getting my life together. I had been to different facilities over the years but could immediately tell Healing properties was different. Horrible place. Kurt and Tim will keep your deposit and say you tested positive. Then pull someone off the wait list and give away your bed. Very sad... They will call police and claim you threatened them and accuse you of being on drugs when the police are there. Many tricks go on here with Mr. Tim Allan. Check the FARR online list or check out Fern House in West Palm which is free for 3 weeks. Don't trust this place at all. It's a money hustle for sure. read more

This place provided me with the safety and structure I needed to be successful in early recovery. I've been at healing properties for the past 6 months and isn't like any other place I've been in the past...and I've been to a lot of halfway houses. They take sobriety very seriously, and is what I need. I've been in South Florida for the past 3 years, and haven't found anywhere that even compares to this place.
