But after about 5+ visits, I gotta break up with PCD and their great keurig selection. My experiences have been so inconsistent here. The first time I visited, they said they found some jaw bone misalignment on my X-ray, and referred me immediately to a specialist. PCD's X-Ray/conclusion turned out to be incorrect. Also, during a cleaning, one dentist said that everything looked fine and I didn't have any cavities. But then the next doctor swooped in and was like, "you need a filling". Ugh. Lastly, I needed a thick bite guard made for my TMJ, but instead I received a thin retainer, even though I have straight teeth. The hygienist was even confused by the discrepancies of the notes made by different doctors on my file. Oh, and one time I checked in and was waiting for a little while, when the receptionist called me on my cell phone to tell me I was late to my appointment. That one is actually kinda funny (but kinda not).

I had to wait in the chair for a very long time after the cleaning to speak with the doctor (so long I had to make calls to cancel things and make alternate arrangements for my kids). When the dentist finally came in, she started a conversation about the high costs of running a dental practice?!? (We had only met one time before this). She then seemed shocked when she presented her very elaborate plan to me and I responded with "yes, lets please start with the most urgent and space treatment out because cost is a very serious concern and barrier". she then sent her hygienist in to ask me if I wanted veneers!!!!!! months later, a $500 bill arrived..... that did not at all match any of the estimates and promises I had been given for a simple cleaning and xrays. now that I am here looking through other reviews, I see that this is something other patients have experienced as well. truly unfortunate since it is a nice office with a great premise.

I came to Jakubas needing quite a few fillings-- I knew it was coming and was just dreading it. But my dental hygienist & Dr. Swenson really put me at ease, breaking down the work into chunks done over the course of a few months. I was able to get all the dental work I needed, and for much less than what fillings had cost me at my last dentist downtown Minneapolis. The front office staff is really great about being flexible with scheduling, explaining bills, and helping understand dental benefits. The office itself is very clean & bright, on a busy intersection of Minnehaha & 46th, but there is usually parking in their private lot, and there is always street parking nearby. The chairs recently got massagers in them which I am crazy about-- and the hygienists really work to make you comfortable and make a cleaning a nice experience.

I like to go extra times each year so I go three times a year for cleaning and then for my regular checks with Dr. Wang. David is an excellent hygienist who is super thorough and gentle and always does an awesome job making my teeth look and feel great. Dr. Wang is an excellent dentist, very friendly; I've had to have one filling replaced with him (it cracked years ago, and he finally convinced me to replace it) and although it did get/stay a little sensitive for a while now it's perfect. He was really good checking in with me every time and giving me tips on how to help with the sensitivity issues. The front staff is usually very friendly and helpful as well. I've been going here for a few years and only had one incident that I can remember where maybe somebody was having a bad day (hey it happens to all of us!) :) all in all I definitely recommend going here for your dental care needs.

I sent him an email describing how I had been told I need gum surgery, a Tuberosity Reduction, before new dentures could be made for me. This was through Family Smiles of Burnsville. Once again, he surprised me by replying that he would give me another free consultation. I, finally, called to set up an appointment. He answered my call! Then he called me back to set it up himself. I was amazed. Dr. Adarve examined my gums and told me I don't need surgery, if he makes my dentures. He was honest when he explained I've had a lot of bone loss due to wearing dentures for so long so I still will have difficulty with my lower denture staying in. I shared that I have used Denttach7 to keep it in better. He asked if I still use it. I affirmed I am because it cushions my gums and helps with keeping my denture from flopping around. He accepted this explanation and I think he was thinking he is going to recommend it to his other patients who also have this dilemma. Then he said lets get this ball rolling and set up an appointment for March to begin getting my dentures made. After putting up with shoddy dentures for seven years, I am looking so forward to getting new dentures from a physician who has many credentials, including his teachers' award. He still is teaching at the University of Minnesota and is on the board of dentistry. Look up his credentials. I've been to many dentists, prosthodontists, etc, in my lifetime. I have only met a few that shows the care that Dr. Adarve does. He has many awards from the whole time he has been treating patients in his visiting room. I, highly, recommend you go to him for your dental care. I don't think there is any better, especially who still makes dentures for those patients who, either, can't have implants or can't afford them.

Southdale Dental has been my dental care provider for 40+ years…read more As a child I had painful scary dental procedures without local anesthesia, and started with Dr Odland at Southdale Dental after a friend said they practice "painless" dentistry, and it seems true! My hygienist Karen is a wonderful source of information, and in recent years I have seen Dr Mehta very happily. Any treatment I need is done quickly and well and yes, painlessly. I am never pressured to agree to any procedures. All the staff starting at the front desk are very respectful and kind. On this site I saw some criticism that the clinic charges patients for their MNCare tax which healthcare providers pay in Minnesota (currently 1.8%) to help fund MNSure. I pay that tax too because I am a healthcare provider myself. The clinics that don't charge you transparently are probably finding a way to put it into their charge as part of overhead. 1.8% may not sound like much but considering the volume of patients, it would mount up. I appreciate that it is defined on my bill! I feel fortunate to have such good dental care and recommend this place.
