My husband came here after a long work day and asked for a "4 hands massage" - 2 massage therapist. He said the walls were thin and the place was busy. During his massage, he could hear people coming in and out and all their conversations. After the massage he tipped $20 each. That's a 36% tip on an "okay" experience. Instead of being grateful, they made him feel guilty for only giving $20 because it was a "4 hands massage". They pressured him to give more and basically wouldn't let him leave unless he gave at least $30!! $30 a person! A 54% tip when in reality, they are doing less work having another person assist in the massage. I never write bad reviews because I know yelp can be used more when people are upset vs happy and I know that can hurt a business and I always try to help, but really?? How greedy and unprofessional. We walked in for a massage without checking the reviews first-big mistake. First of all we walk in and ask for a massage and the lady at the counter literally didn't even speak enough English to understand what we were saying and had to go get a man-who also hardly spoke enough English-to translate for her. I came here as a walk in and got the $20 foot massage with Andy. The atmosphere is relaxing but kind of awkward only because I'm used to the set up that soothing ocean in Northridge has. The staff are friendly, respectful, and polite. Mandarin is definitely everyone's first language. But no biggie for me, since I'm used to this kind of thing. Being asian and all, I've grown up with a large amount of elders whom English was not their first language. Like my grandparents. Onto the massage review. Andy was great. He was gentle around the ankle and calf areas and firm on the bottoms of my feet, which was great. Exactly what everyone should be doing since the ankle and calf for most people are one of the most sensitive areas when it comes to massage. Andy really seemed to know exactly where I was most in pain. He seemed to focus on the areas that are sore from MMA work outs. Like, hammys, glutes, shoulders, arms, neck, and lower back. My shoulders are extremely knotted and sore and at the end he gave me a quick shoulder massage but I was out of time. :( I know he felt the gigantic knots in my shoulders because he seemed surprised. He told me to come back and he would focus on those knots for me. That last minute of shoulder massage he did. Omg. Let me tell you, it was painful in a good way. Like it hurt because the knots are big but felt good. He brought me water, and I left feeling fully restored and refreshed. I highly recommend you ask for Andy if you decide to give this place a try. Don't be shy to tell him to use more pressure or go lighter. I couldn't be more happier with my experience here and it's all thanks to him. Really. If I could've rated a "no star" this place deserves it!! This place is an absolute joke!!! I basically had to twist the girls arm to give me a massage in the first place. Once escorted to the room, there was an odd smell and it appeared to be somebody's bedroom. I could have gotten a better massage from having somebody's cat walk back and forth on my torso. This sub par two handed massage then turned into a one handed massage that felt more or less like I was just being poked rather than massaged. Then said poke and prod session would stop all together. I could tell the masseuse (and I use the term loosely) was texting. This happened 4-5 times and I had enough. I sat up and asked "what was so important?" In broken English she said "oh I hurt you?" I said "NO I PAID YOU FOR A MASSAGE AND YOU HAVE BEEN TEXTING THE WHOLE TIME!!!" The masseuse tried to lie to me and show me her phone and say that she was "checking the time" . I then proceeded to tell her that her damn phone was on my back and I could feel every keystroke. Lmao!!! I told her that I wanted my money back and also educated her on leaving her phone outside the massage room or how to be discrete if a text is that important. I had a body massage and foot massage here so far and both were amazing! For someone who stands on her feet all day for 12 hours straight, I prefer the foot massage over the body massage since the body massage did not include any feet rubbing. The foot massage on the other hand, focused on both body and feet. The price is unbeatable especially since the massage I received here was better than a few high end massage parlors I've been to. I ended up tipping them 50% ($10) for the foot massage since the masseur worked so hard and diligently on my sore feet and body over an hour for just $20. If you're getting a foot massage, be ready to share room with other clients. You'll probably be too relaxed to notice anyone else in the room except when the massage is over for the other people and they have to get up. Also, if you choose do the foot massage, I recommend wearing loose fitting pants since you would need to roll them up in order to soak your feet. The foot massage also include an oil rub on your back so prepare to take off your top for 5 min. Ladies, you'll be faced down for that part so no need to be shy. If you prefer privacy or prefer massage without your clothes on, body massage would be ideal since you get your own room. I must warn you though that like most Asian massage parlors, English is a limitation for the workers here. However, I'm sure they'll understand you if you want harder or softer pressure, or if you want to focus on a certain part.And like most Asian massage parlor, they have drapes on the windows to limit the sunlight into the room to maintain a peaceful ambience. I don't understand how that one yelp reviewer based her negative review solely on the outside appearance of the establishment without even trying the massage. It's quite unfair for the employees there since they're working hard to make a living. Also, the couple of guys she mentioned were probably customers from the nearby cigar shop.
