Despite answering her questions about my service dog, she repeatedly confronted me, got in my face, and yelled about my 10 lb service animal. As someone with PTSD this triggered an anxiety attack. Cafe menu looks to be tasty but haven't had a chance to try as everytime I've gone to the market it's closed or employees behind the counter look unenthusiastic to see or help a customer, plus there's no menu posted on the walls for easy viewing. As per the couple of times I've gone in to shop I noticed I've recieved some following from store employees looking over my shoulder in isles, as a student from the local college I can understand being careful but it comes to a point of obnoxiousness and poor customer service. I've also noticed they carry some products that are sold at the Winn Dixie across the street where the price so happens to be significantly cheaper so keep that in mind.

It's actually cheaper to shop Aldi on Instacart and get it delivered to the house than go to Publix. And RIP Kroger. Meats are just better and often cheaper here. Bakery's fantastic. Sushilicious! lol Don't even ask me about the rotisserie chicken. Worlds better. You don't want that Pubix pigeon. Jyeah, you could totally upgrade yourself into bankruptcy shopping interesting and unusual things but you don't have to. Stick to the script and you'll be better off for it. I'm still relishing the delicious filet, chops, those wildly giant asparagus and lobster we've bought here over the last many months.

Employees were not friendly, and checkouts you have no way to know who was open, their checkout space is narrow . I have a detailed list of what i needed for our daycare, i was only able to buy 3 items on that list. What do families buy here that have children??Ended up going back and finishing up my shopping list elsewhere. It does seem to be slower that other grocery stores , now i know why...I check them out but they are not for me.

Long before Whole Foods existed... before wellness influencers... before every grocery store suddenly discovered "organic"... my parents owned health food stores in California and New York during the 1970s and 80s, back when most Americans barely understood what a health food store was. I grew up carrying whole wheat, avocado, mayo and sprout sandwiches in my lunchbox when other kids had processed snacks and white bread. My mother was giving health and nutritional talks decades ago and still does to this day. The funny part is the kids at school loved my avocado sprout sandwiches so much that they would trade me their Twinkies for them. Twinkies were absolutely a no-no in our household, which of course made them feel like pure treasure whenever I could get my hands on one... even though I knew they were terrible for me. Healthy living wasn't a trend in our household. It was simply the way we lived. And contrary to what people think now, this knowledge is not new. Ancient cultures understood the connection between food, health, longevity and lifestyle long before modern America rediscovered it and turned it into branding. Tibet is a perfect example. Entire cultures have understood preventative wellness and intentional living for centuries. Back then, health food stores were different. They were deeply personal places. Independent. Passion-driven. Families built them around education, community, and a genuine belief in helping people live healthier lives. Then the industry began to change. During the 1980s and 90s, large corporations started buying up independent health food stores across America. Chains like GNC expanded aggressively through acquisitions, converting many small family-owned stores into standardized retail locations. In fact, GNC actually bought one of my parents' stores years ago and turned it into a GNC. Later, companies like Whole Foods, Vitamin Shoppe, and major investment groups helped transform what had once been deeply local, community-driven businesses into national chains built around scale, branding, and mass-market wellness. That's why Earth Origins still feels special to me. It still carries echoes of the old Mother Earth health food store that once existed here in Ocala. The scent in the air... the supplement aisles... the atmosphere... even the energy of the store instantly brought me back to childhood memories of standing inside my parents' stores decades ago. There's something comforting about walking into a place that still feels connected to the original spirit of the health food movement before it became mainstream. For me, Earth Origins doesn't just feel like shopping. It feels like home.

I have shopped here so specific items and also just to browse. Since we do not have a Whole Foods or Fresh Market, and Sprouts is on the other side of town, Earth Origins is the next best thing. I have been exploring plant based products for the last couple of years and attempting the more holistic route so Earth Origins definitely assists with that. I will say, the prices are astronomical for many products but reasonable for other products. The produce department is super small, with only organic options, and not many options for vegetables or fruits. They have a small salad bar, which is measured by the pound. There is also a hot soup bar, with I think 2 options but they close that early-maybe around 5pm? There is also a deli/ seafood/ sushi counter where you can purchase a la carte items, with premade options already packaged for grab and go. They also have ramen you can order! Next is a bulk area with a huge selection of nuts, coffee, seeds, legumes, snacks, etc. I finally purchased some during my last visit. I was a little slow in figuring it out. You put the items in a bag, then tie it with a wire tag, then write the UPC code # on the tag so the cashier can type it in. There is also fresh nut butters and honey and pastries in the same area. There are aisles of dry goods, supplements, vitamins, personal care, snacks, beverages, and treats. There is also a small wine section, with a lot of local wines. Lined up against the back of the store and the last aisle are refrigerated and freezer items. I always purchase items in the area! If you join their membership, you receive special deals daily. If you bring your own bags, you receive a 5 cent discount.

They said I could find it here and it has been around for almost 50 years! And what a fantastic hidden gem located right behind the Publix shopping center on Roosevelt! I woke up this morning on a mission to get some fresh pressed carrot juice for my boy and possibly a sandwich for me. I had read about the 14 Carrot Gold Juice Bar located inside Weise Natural Food Shoppe on their website so wanting to have an excellent Saturday morning adventure, I drove over to check it all out. Holy Wow! Who knew this place existed? Well, apparently a ton of people because when I arrived, the parking lot was full of cars and people were coming in and out up until closing. I was greeted by a super nice lady named Sue and she asked me if I needed any help. I told her I wanted to get a fresh carrot juice so she pointed the way to the back. When I got there, an equally sweet lady named Lisa told me that I could have my carrot juice plain or with celery, garlic, parsley or ginger added or however way I wanted it. In addition, the juice bar offered organic fruit smoothies and healthy vegetarian sandwiches. I thought I had died and gone to HEAVEN! I opted for straight carrot juice and their curry "chicken" salad sandwich and then walked around the store to see all of the offerings. They stock a wide variety of herbs, supplements, vitamins, all natural products for the body, home and even your pets as well as everyday organic groceries and CHOCOLATE! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Weise-Pharmacy-and-Natural-Food-Shoppe/180411578676414 I was fortunate enough to meet and briefly chat with Gilbert Weise, Sr., the pharmacist and nutritionist, from which the pharmacy and natural food shop is named. He is a very interesting character and apparently comes from a lineage of healthcare practitioners in the area and continues the legacy. Not only does this man talk the talk, but he also walks the walk....if you speak with him, you will know what I mean (and feel guilty that you haven't already adopted his lifestyle yesterday). http://www.weiserx.com/retailer/store_templates/ret_about_us.asp?storeID=D5014D8206A24FA7A9B57A43F807BE7E Overall, my experience was exceptional! That had to be the most fun I've ever had in a pharmacy/health food store! Such an interesting and well run location with a great staff who really makes you feel like family. It's my new favorite place! Oh yea, by the way, the carrot juice was perfectly sweet and yummy and the vegetarian curry chicken sandwich was super flavorful and healthy. What a great way to start my day! I will definitely be back! :)
