I love so many things about Healthy Smiles Dental ... I was really selective about who I chose for a dentist as my previous dentist (different state) was AWESOME so the bar was a bit high. I had tried a couple of other dentists in Maryland and was not satisfied.I really wanted a practice that was up to date and ahead of the times in terms of their practice and procedures. I'm so glad I found this practice and highly recommend it without any reservations oncesoever. When I first visited, I saw Dr. Salmassi and she is amazing. In recent years, I've seen Dr. Janloo the most and he has outstanding 'chairside' manner ... he explains everything that will happen before, during, and after and is highly responsive to questions (and to anxiety! I'm one who gets anxious at the dentist!). He frequently stops to check with you and to make sure your are comfortable. I saw him today for my first ever root canal and it was absolutely painless and I truly was grateful for that as I was terrified going in ... I trusted him to work with me and he did a fabulous job. I also love the dental hygienist Lynne and look forward to seeing her every 6 months. She has a wonderful sense of humor and I love to ask her about her farm work! Natalie the nurse is awesome and a fabulous partner to Dr. Janloo at the chair. Christy at the front desk is responsive, empathetic, caring and professional. I can't say enough good things about this practice and the team of professionals who work here and I plan to see them for as long as they are continue practicing here! I am incredibly disappointed with the treatment I recently experienced at this practice. Every single patient deserves to be treated with basic dignity, fairness, and respect. Unfortunately, my recent experience made it overwhelmingly clear that the quality of service and respect you receive here is determined by the color of your skin. A dental practice should be a safe, welcoming, and professional environment for everyone in the community. Discrimination and a lack of respect are completely unacceptable. Dr. J is very unprofessional and confrontational was arguing with myself and my son because my son did not want to get root canal, filling and extraction within one visit. And my son's front crown came out after 6 months and he will not see him to fix it TERRIBLE!!!! read more

They do a good job but they were pretty rude to me. I was trying to tell them that the laughing gas was too high but then Dr. Janloo ridiculed me and told me I was acting childish. Later I threw up due to the high amount of gas they gave me. Whenever Dr. Janloo cleaned my teeth he would purposely be aggressive and I would have to just sit back and wait until it was over. He is very condescending. Almost every time I was there, it felt uncomfortably. They do the work well but it's crazy the way he acts. read more

I chose Healthy Smiles after careful Yelp reviews of the dentists within my driving distance. Both dentists were friendly and professional with Dr. Janloo taking the time yesterday to talk to me about getting me started with a waterpik when flossing becomes too difficult with my 20 years of multiple sclerosis. Because it's a smaller office, Dr. Janloo personally cleaned my teeth, explaining the new technology and techniques as he efficiently moved along. Kristin and Chanel were kind and helpful with Chanel doing my x-rays and getting me set up, and Kristin checking me out. Last time I went here, Dr. Janloo was cleaning my teeth pretty roughly. For the first time ever at a dentist, I asked if he could be a little gentler. He responded by telling me I always complain (entirely false) and I shouldn't tell him how to do his job. In the past, I had positive experiences with him and the rest of the staff, so maybe he was just having a bad day. But I decided I could no longer trust this doctor with my child so I moved my whole family to a different practice. Everyone from the front desk is kind, good-natured, professional and truly caring about your health and well-being. Every service I've gotten has been discussed with me thoroughly before being performed, and I have always been beyond satisfied with how respectfully my words, preferences and pain levels have been taken in. I just had my first root canal and as I said to Dr. Janloo, "That was the smoothest injection ever!" The tech gently rubbed my cheek while the injections were done so I felt not a single ounce of pain, and there was an expert level of good-humor mixed with professional skill throughout the whole process making is pleasurable rather than a nightmare. I've been coming here for about 2 years now and I love Healthy Smiles. I used to live right down the road but I moved away about a year ago. I live an hour away now but I will drive all the way to Elkridge just to go to this dentist. The quality of the service here is amazing. The dentist here is so nice and they do an excellent job taking care of you. I feel like they are honest with their patients and really value them. I was never a fan of going to the dentist before but I feel at ease going to Healthy Smiles. I have gotten my wisdom tooth pulled from them and I had hardly any swelling and the procedure went very smoothly. I have also gotten my cavities fixed through them and I am very pleased with the results. The best part is that they work with your health insurance. I sometimes felt like I was getting jipped at other doctors/dentists. But at Healthy Smiles, they make sure you understand what is covered under your health insurance and what needs to be paid out of pocket BEFORE any procedure is done. read more

I have been to this Dentist twice last year. I had a fairly ok experience the first time which was aroutine cleaning. Dr. Janloo (junior) seems nice but I think needs a reality check regarding his skills for filling a simple cavity. He suggested filling a cavity in my molars which was detected on my xrays during cleaning.Though I had no symptoms prior to my cleaning, I agreed to fill it . The filling was done in October and I have been miserable since then. I had sensitivity and pain immediately after the filling (once the numbing wore off). He initially addressed this by prescribing a fluoride toothpaste!! After a week of inability to chew food on my left side.. I insisted on him checking my filling and he reluctantly agreed. After a quick 5 minute check up he went in to an elaborate explanation about 20% of patients are sensitive to the filling material! . I had to travel to Europe and he guaranteed pain relief after a couple weeks. After 5 weeks of misery and pain in Europe, I consulted another dentist( in the US) who found a smaller cavity that he had missed on the same Xrays where he found just one cavity! The new dentist also had to redo the tooth that Dr. Janloo fixed as it was too snug & close to the pulp ( per an endodentist referral). I am glad to say , after 5 months I am finally free of pain! Thanks to the new dentist and their referral etc. I donot understand why Dr. Janloo didnot come up with a simple plan like lets redo this cavity and see what happens. He chose to blame it on the filling material!! Beware.. I never thought my teeth would cause me this much grief. I would not recommend this dentist for a simple cleaning job either.. I do want to mention that his front office person Melissa is a sweet heart. read more

I went here for several reasons I had many cavities, fast foward I got those filled in this was in 2017. I had to get about 4 wisdom teeth pulled which I did, yet one cracked during the procedure... ok so I had half of a tooth the other half still in my gum. I would get these violent headaches not knowing why so I went to a different dentist to figure out why I kept getting these awful headaches and my mouth would ache for weeks. I hated taking Tylenol because medicine isn't my cup of tea and taking pills will eat at your stomach lining. Anyways my new dentist says well you need braces your teeth are shifting we already knew I needed braces so mind you this is a year later. Now we are here 2018 I get braces May 2018 my teeth are now straightening my orthodontist finds in my X-ray A wisdom tooth way in my gum the ROOT is still there. I have to have oral surgery to remove this tooth when this all could have simply been prevented if Healthy smiles would have took the time to remove this wisdom tooth how do you crack someones tooth and leave the other half there, and I didnt think nothing of it I just thought my tooth broke while he was taking it out but...... turns out the root of the tooth was always there and thats why I had awful headaches. I wouldn't wish that pain on my worse enemy there were times I didn't want to talk because of how bad my face ached. It was awful and very annoying and now the pain is back but its ok because we now know the issue and as I type this my mouth aches. I guess my other friend wasn't lying about how they broke his mother's tooth also... I guess thats the norm here.. never again. read more

They are courteous, respectful, and timely. I have been a patient there for over 5 years and I have never had a bad experience. The staff always gets you back at your scheduled time, and are finished when they say they will finish. No wait time at all. Everything is very transparent as well. I would normally never contribute anything negative, but the husband doctor I talked to (it's a husband and wife operation) was so unpleasant, condescending, and patronizing, I ended up canceling my appointment and finding a different dentist. Having never met me, and talking to me on the phone for the first time ever, he wouldn't let me get a word in edge wise when I tried to ask a simple question about my upcoming procedure, and during the period of a 2 minute conversation ended up insulting me several times (whether or not that was inadvertent, I don't know honestly. He did seem incredibly full of himself), telling me multiple times that I should just be thankful for his attention because many of his patients are (i know, but a direct quote, for real). The thing is, all I had was a non-confrontational, matter-of-fact question I never got a chance to fully ask. I maybe wrong, but I normally know an asshole when I encounter one. So, I'll never go there. Maybe it's just my experience. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't feel that I am, though. Don't base your opinion on mine, but please, do take it into consideration. read more
