Went earlier today since I saw that they were close by to my location and was affordable with their $40 daily deals for weekdays (Monday-Thursday I believe). It was for a 1 hour reflexology massage which was 45 minutes feet and 15 minutes back. They started off by laying a towel over my body and soaking my feet. As they were soaking they gave me a shoulder, neck, and arm massage. Overall a good experience but don't expect it to be a quiet relaxing massage but more of a body rejuvenation massage. So glad Healthy Zu was able to stay in business! I used to come for $30 Reflexology once a month before COVID, but hadn't come back until today. I called ahead to ask about what COVID precautions they're taking - I felt very safe with how they're operating. Everyone's wearing a mask correctly (clients and staff), it's 50% capacity with folks spread out in the room, disposable paper sheets cover each table, & they spray and wipe down with alcohol cleanser after every client. I was surprised their prices stayed the same. I always give $10-15 tip since they do such a good job. Despite what some other reviews had said about tipping, consider this - places like Massage Envy are hit or miss and they charge you $60 plus 20% auto gratuity. Here you pay $30 + $10-$15 tip and it's still less than that. You can literally come for 2 massages at Healthy Zu for the same price as other places. I had tired feet as I explored Chicago by foot for a few days. Saw a foot massage place and it's what I was looking for. They are pretty booked, so I do recommend calling to make an appointment. We came on Saturday looking for a same day appointment, but they weren't able to fit us in for a few hours, so we made an appointment for Sunday instead. We did the 70 minute massage for $65. This was 40 min body massage and 30 min foot massage. We were given rooms and were asked to undress and be faced down. The foot massage portion was at the end and there wasn't enough pressure applied. It was slightly weird as I'm used to sitting down and soaking my feet in some kind of herbal mixture and the massage therapist sits in a chair to massage my feet. I feel like that helps to relax and get toxins out of my feet. As a result, I don't think they were really able to massage it really well or as deep. The body massage was just okay. I didn't think the therapist had really good technique and he did not work out any knots in my back, which was a little disappointing. Overall, it was okay. I felt uncomfortable the moment I walked in and want to mention they had no heat in the building/rooms. The receptionist was wearing a winter coat and hat ... this is the moment I should have walked out, but I did the "midwestern thing"and stayed the massage was a notch above a college boyfriend trying to improve you. I have been going here for years a few times a month. Relatively easy to get a same-day appointment. They have very good therapists that are professional and great deep tissue and foot massages. My only recommendation is to bring some earbuds to play your favorite peaceful music. I used to go to Healthy Zu 4-5 years ago and really liked the various masseuse that worked on me. On my most recent experience this week, I was quite disappointed. These communal massage parlors make the massage affordable but the masseuse tend to speak to each other in their language and it makes for a less than 'zen' experience. In addition, they don't care about talking to each other loudly in their break rooms either. Between this and an average masseuse who was either new or just doesn't know pressure points, I had a disappointing experience and not going to be back. read more

The music is lovely and calming, the tables are comfy and the towels soft. Value - 10/5 - the cheapest quality massage in town! $90 for 90 min full body, $80 for full body + foot aka the combo. A few months ago my friend and I came here for massages and they were great! Next time I came back I thought the massage was ok. Despite having you fill out a paper where I put light pressure lower back and medium up he went waaayyy too hard and I bruised and asked him to go gentle. Which he would do and then too hard again. I've never bruised so bad from a massage. I also felt a little weird I left my underwear on and the massage guy pulled them down. I'm pretty open but they had put up signs about soliciting all over the massage areas so I felt awkward. Was very stressed out so scheduled a massage, soliciting signs were still up all over. This massage was the worst. Again guy went way too hard despite filling out the paper and verbally asking him to go light. He did not speak English. I also felt like the massage was heading towards an unwanted solicitation. He grazed my vagina on multiple occasions and was rubbing and wiping my wwaaayyy inner thighs. I felt like it was too much. I've had no less than 100 massages (even in europe where you're a bit more naked and less conservative) and never felt this uncomfortable. 3 days later and I'm super sore on my back from how hard he was. Good place to get a foot massage! It is a little noisy between the people upstairs and the laundry buzzer going off. You are in a room with other people for the foot massage but it is dark and spaced out well. I enjoy the stretching as well that's included in the hour treatment. Staff is very friendly. read more

I'm a big fan of foot reflexology places and the one closest to my home is no longer a viable option (shady dealings and hidden cameras) so I have tried Healthy Zu a couple times and find myself going back pretty regularly. I made an appt the day before and oddly, they didn't take my name or anything but I assumed they had caller ID? I think this part may be loose. It's $30 for 60 minutes - bargain - and not like a western massage, but it's about pressure points and working you into relaxation. We went at opening this time and they were about 5 min behind as they were cleaning (which I like to see) and the towels were a bit coldish-dampish, but I could tell they were clean. Your belongings go into a bin with a lid under the bed. My masseuse was great with firm to deep pressure, but didn't hurt me. There was no excess use of lotion which I've had before and he was quiet/silent the whole time. The only disruption was the other two people who came in the room about 15 minutes after we started and made all kinds of noise. I do wish the towels were a bit updated and the room could use a refresh, but the service itself was great. If only they had parking I'd be there a couple times a month. Its definitely one of the better ones of these types of foot spas. read more

Also, the massage therapists should cut their fingernails, or you might end up with an injury like this (pictured). Wouldn't come back here again. My husband and I walked in today for two 30 minute foot massages and they said they could accommodate in 10 mins. No problem right? 5 mins go by and a dude walks in for a service and is lead to the back. 10 minutes later he comes out, stops just before he gets to the exit and proceeds to zip his pants and buckle his belt. The last two times that I have been here the masseur was extremely rough. Both times I had to tell them to take it easy but after a few minutes it was extremely rough again. I had sore spots on my body the second time when I went home. On top of that I agree with other reviews here about the lady at the front desk being extremely unprofessional. I needed change to tip and she gave me all big bills. I had to ask her to break it down and she made a face. After which she watched how much I put aside in my bag and what I had in my hand and she scoffed!! She thought the tip wasn't good enough! She looked disgusted and shook her head! I couldn't believe it! My husband was with me and he was shocked too. We both looked at her and she kept shaking her head. If you like a therapist, ASK the front desk for a name and be sure to request same therapist when you make an appt for next visit. PRESSURE can be adjusted. Soft Medium Hard. ;) Let your therapist know before treatment. Ask for a SILICONE FACE CUSHION if you think the towel is too harsh for your skin, or you have somewhere to go and you don't want random dots on face. 1-star less for PUNCH CARD elimination. I've never tried Chinese reflexology before and I probably wouldn't have had my friend not bought a Groupon for this place. Healthy Zu looks small and unassuming from the outside. The reception area is small and has some chairs and ice water. The inner room past a curtained entrance is much larger and dimly lit, with soothing music quietly playing. There are eight beds set up  (4 per row) with a tub of warm water at the foot of each bed and a foot stool. Therein the magic begins. Initially I wasn't sure how I'd like being in a communal environment but it ended up being completely comfortable. There are hooks on the wall at the head of each bed for your coat. I stuck my glasses in my mitten. I got the 1 hour Groupon, which was a foot massage, a 10-min head and neck massage, and 20 min back massage. You don't disrobe for the experience but I think it's good to wear something light. I wore a turtleneck but thankfully had a shirt on underneath so was able to slip off the turtleneck, thereby allowing the lady to be able to massage my neck and apply lotion. The foot massage was great too. While your head and neck are massaged, you're soaking your feet in a tub of warm water. Then the lady turns her attention to the feet, lotions then up, and applies gentle force at various pressure points.   When I flipped onto my stomach, she massaged my back then also internally and externally rotated my legs at the hip, flexed my legs at the knee, and gently rotated my feet. It felt almost like physical therapy. I almost fell asleep. The hour was up before I knew it. We paired this with a trip to Little Goat Diner which was literally around the corner. Amazing way to spend the morning. I highly recommend this place. Do make an appointment and keep your voice down when entering through the curtained entrance (I didn't realize the massage experience would be in a communal room) so as not to disturb others' zen experience. However, I just got back from there and I had a male masseuse. At first he was good and then things got very uncomfortable. He accidentally touched me inappropriately once, so I asked him to not massage there, then it happened another 3-4 times. Once it was over, I went to the lobby to pay and he stood there until I gave a tip. I would never have given this man a $20 tip for one of the most violating and uncomfortable situations of my life. I love this place! If you're unfamiliar with Chinese foot massages, just know that they're no frills, clothed, and no privacy for the basic foot ("reflexology") massage. You lie on a comfy giant "ottoman" with your clothes on in a big room with other people also getting massaged, and you get a foot bath/massage and a massage for your head & body too. It's efficient and to the point. You don't linger around sipping hot tea in a robe. If you are familiar with Chinese foot massages, I'd say Healthy Zu Spa is slightly above average because the massage room is separated from the front room so there's separation from customers who walk in and talk all loudly. You also get your own coat hooks on the wall. They also don't overly grease you up so you can continue about your day without looking like you haven't showered in days. Ladies, if your hair and makeup are on fleek, just ask them not to massage your head & face! I've been here a handful of times, and even the 30 mins will get me to doze off. The basic foot massage is $25 for 30 mins, $28 for 60 mins. Oftentimes there are groupons so check there first! You can also get full body massages too, which I think you do get private rooms for. Not sure if those are clothed or not. They take appointments loosely, but every time I've come here during the day I've never had to wait. read more

So worth the 15 minute Uber from downtown Chicago! The place is not fancy, but I am not there for the decor, I am there for a good massage and that's exactly what I got. My therapist was amazing, he applied excellent pressure and technique for the entire duration of the massage. The only thing that was distracting and annoying was that another one of the therapist was seating in a really loud squeaky chair and it was driving me nuts, also it's not as quiet as other places I have been to, luckily I had my headphones in my purse, so once I got them out and started listening to my own music I was able to block out the squeaky chair and all of the other noise, so I was able to enjoy my blissful massage. Great deal of $28/hr, I left a $15 tip. Highly recommend it, but suggest you bring your own headphones and music. read more

Great place for the price if your okay with being in an open space room getting your massage at the same time as others. I've been here a few times and always ask for the 1 hour foot massage. As a heads up, although they call it a foot massage, it's actually more like a full body massage, plus some stretching. I would say about 25 minutes is actually spent on your feet and the rest of the time they massage your legs, back, arms, and head. Only downfall I would say is sometimes the massage can be a bit painful, especially when it comes to your back. Been here twice and the first time was amazing! I was so happy I had finally found a reflexology place so close to me, until I went back for seconds... My friend and I made appointments and were sent to our chairs almost immediately. We lie down and our masseuses start talking to each other. I wasn't too mad at first because i didn't think it would last, but it did, for over half the massage they were laughing and talking and you could tell they were looking at each other because my masseuse was hitting the same place - it didn't event feel good. But I was like ya know whatever the price is so cheap, can't expect it to be perfect, so I don't say anything; I just go to pay. The front desk lady asked how much I want to tip, and I say $5 will be good (and I didn't even want to give that because of the talking and laughing). The woman looked at me like she just saw satan and couldn't believe that I was only tipping $5. She literally said "why you only tip 5 dollar?". First of all, a tip is voluntary. I am not obligated to give a tip. A tip is received based on the service provided, and mine was shit, so I gave a shit tip (by the way $5 is still over 20% of the total bill.) Instead of saying the above, I said "well my masseuse was speaking to another masseuse half of my massage". The front desk lady said, "hold on you don't leave" and walked into the massage room WITH MY CREDIT CARD. She BRINGS OUT THE MASSEUSES AND CONFRONTS THEM IN FRONT OF ME!!! I couldn't believe it.
