Had a lovely hot stone massage here by Danielle! The front desk was super helpful guiding me from their parking garage to their location since it was a little confusing finding them. Once you arrive, the front desk area was clean and already a calming and quiet environment. My massage therapist, Danielle, greeted me right on time for my appointment. She was so kind and did a great job on my hot stone massage! It was so soothing and the ambiance inside the treatment room was very relaxing. Olly the Masseuse gets five stars, she was excellent! The experience with Urban Oasis gets 1 star as I will not return after I use my gift certificates. I checked in & said I'd be leaving a cash tip for Olly. I had a wonderful massage, shower, left a generous tip, was relaxed as I walked to my car & received a phone call from Urban Oasis. They said to me, "don't you want to tip your Masseuse?" I answered, "yes, I did." I thought the next words were going to be an apology but instead she continued, "Well how did you tip her, did you give her cash?" I said yes before hanging up the phone. My zen state was gone. Thoroughly impressed with Urban Oasis, as they truly live up to their name. This is my first visit and will definitely not be the last. The moment you walk in you are welcomed by the lovely Alicia and Annisha like family into their homes. Offered water or juice and clean sandals. Explained all the amenities and procedures. Just sitting in their cozy tranquil waiting area for my massage therapist, I felt so relaxed and comfortable like when I used to visit Grand Teton National Park and resort. My massage therapist, Dianne, was professional friendly and most importantly, her firm slow concentrated strokes/movements felt like she knew exactly where I needed more or less attention. I didn't feel like a slab of meat as I did in some of my past massages at other places. One of the best massages ever! After my hour session, I "floated" in a clean soft robe over to the lovely refreshing shower spa with a fabulous rain shower & many amenities that I did not expect. My back/neck/shoulder have been give me some problems and it also didn't help that I work in an office and sitting in front of computer all day long. I have gone to a few massage therapists in the past. Unfortunately, some didn't make much sense to me and a few of them didn't even have a proper intake. "Urban Oasis" happened to have an appointment open that fit my schedule and I took a chance to give this place a try. First of all, the ambience was very welcoming and I was warmly greeted. I was able to change to the sandels right away and got offered an beverage of my choice. Deborah, the therapist, then escorted me to the room and everything appeared clean, temperature on the bed was appropriate, and the lighting was just perfect. Deborah applied strong pressure and it was exactly what I needed for my kind of deep tissue massage! There were some moments that I had to breathe and inhale harder to combat the pressure going through the trigger points and connective tissues, but eventually I felt so much better as the session progressed. Deborah was so kind to provide me some useful tips for stretching and posture adjustment. She showed a lot of care and I really appreciated that. The rain shower exceeded my expectation as well. The amenities in the shower room were great and I haven't had any massage service that came with the use of this facility like Urban Oasis. In addition, I received awesome service from the receptionist as well. She handed me a product sample, a discount card for the next service, and explained the referral program. First and foremost, I want to thank the owner, Peter Rubnitz, for extending the expiration date of my gift certificate due to the pandemic. He was very prompt in responding and courteous each time I reached out. Peter sets the standard of first-class customer service before I set my foot inside. Simply superb! They take COVID-19 precautions seriously. I had my temperature checked upon arrival and hand sanitizer was placed all over. A plastic bin was provided to me for my personal belongings to take to the massage room with me. The waiting area was clean and showcased retail products such as lotions and candles. My Therapist, Kayoko, was absolutely wonderful. She worked hard to loosen every knot on my back. With 17 years of experience, she loves her job as it makes her happy. I felt relaxed and content after my session. SIDE NOTE - My request for taking photos to accompany the review was met with annoyance by Kirsten and the receptionist on duty. I have loved Urban Oasis for decades. I was always a client at the Maple Street location. Once it closed I have visited the North Avenue location a few times. While it is not small and quaint like my local spa, it it still wonderful and welcoming. Parking and the entrance is a bit confusing, but was easily navigated once I figured it out. Located on the lower level, it gives a tucked away feel. Soft neutral colors add to the relaxing vibe. I have gone for massages and have love the therapists that were assigned to me. I have been going to Urban Oasis for over a year now and I absolutely love the staff and the space. I enjoy the space; it is warm, inviting, and calming. The best prenatal massage I could ever imagine. I'm just sad it took me until my 3rd trimester to find it! Jennifer was my therapist, and she was fabulous - I appreciated that she was willing to use pressure in certain areas, which I've found hard to find at other spas. Instead of the side laying or pregnancy pillow, they have actual beds with holes cut out. I'm sure body type will dictate how comfortable these are for others. But what I appreciated is that pressure was easier to obtain on a table as opposed to a pillow. Parking was very convenient, and with validation, it was $12 for 2 hours. I had a great experience recently getting a prenatal massage. The massage therapist, Kim, did a great job explaining how the massage would go before starting, talking through any areas of tension with me, and explaining areas she'd avoid and why due to pregnancy. It was a comfortable and relaxing experience. They even have a special table designed for pregnant women with a hole in it for your "bump." As far as COVID precautions, they take your temperature upon arrival, have you complete paperwork confirming you don't have symptoms, etc., and require you (and the massage therapist) to wear masks throughout your time there. While wearing a mask isn't ideal for a massage, I think it makes sense for safety reasons. If you have a comfortable cloth mask, it doesn't take much away from the experience in my opinion. Parking is also convenient with a parking garage located nearby; they offer validated parking, which is affordable for the city. read more

I came to Urban Oasis for a prenatal massage. Upon check in I greeted the women at the front desk with a smile and said hello. All she said back to me was "are you checking in? What's your name?" She was very soft spoken (almost sounded tired and annoyed), had no inflection in her voice, and a stern face. Then she asked if it was my first time there which I had to ask her to repeat the question 3 times bc I couldn't hear her. She finally said it louder with tons of attitude. As a first timer here I did not feel welcome and she made the whole experience uncomfortable. The massage was okay. A little over priced for what it was. I told her I liked firm pressure and she took that to heart the entire massage! The rain shower after was perfect, with one complaint. When I booked, the receptionist told me the showers were fully stocked. I took that to mean face wash also. It didn't. Would have been helpful for the receptionist to mention that so I didn't come out of the shower looking like a panda from my mascara (not getting your face wet is pretty unavoidable in a rain shower). Had my first prenatal massage at Urban Oasis today. I was looking forward to this massage ever since my husband got me a gift card. The one week wait was well worth the wait! My massage therapist was amazing and made me feel so comfortable. She definitely helped with my severe back pain and I plan on returning before giving birth. The facilities are nice. Wish the waiting area was more secluded and private. When I arrived there was two receptionists. One of them was super friendly. The other young lady did not look like she wanted to be there. Ahh . . . . . a little more pressure, please. Yeah, there . . . .right there. Mmmm . . ahhh . . ..my weary body sighed in satisfaction as I was pummeled, thumped and rubbed during my recent visit to the Urban Oasis. I'm a girl who likes a good massage, but then who doesn't? Urban Oasis is extremely professional and organized. From the time you make your reservation to the time you check out, the process is easy, and after you've had one of their massages, trust me- easy is all you can handle! When you call to make your appointment, they ask if you would like one of their signature showers to end your experience. "Why yes- of course", I said. I wanted the steam shower, but they only had the rain shower available. Maybe next time. It was okay because you only get 20 minutes in the shower area anyway which made me feel a bit rushed. Had I had the steam shower, I probably would have been lost in there for awhile! I love their liberal cancellation policy. You can cancel 4 hours before your appointment without a penalty. Most places have a 24 hour cancellation policy. They also validate parking in the garage (enter off of Sheffield) so it only costs $5.. Urban Oasis is a little different than other places as you leave your shoes up front (they give you sandals),you can enjoy some herbal tea, water or juice, but you don't get your robe until your therapist picks you up from the waiting area. You are then shown to your "shower room" which is where your locker is and you can change into your robe. As for the massage- I'll let my body do the talking and it says, "Yes, yes, yes, more, more, more!" All in all- a good massage for a reasonable price ($100 for an hour). I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to massages so I prefer places where I can luxuriate a little more with separate steam rooms, Jacuzzis, and relaxation areas for after the massage. I have been 4 or 5 times since they opened up and everything has been wonderful. They have all of the required safety precautions (and more). The staff is executing seamlessly. It's been pretty tough getting same wk appointments, so thinking that more folks are like me and comfortable getting their relaxy time back in their lives. The only thing that stinks (but completely out of their control) is that there is no steam shower allowed after :( Outside of that it's been great to have this back in my routine, and encourage others to get some post Covid self care back in their lives. I couldn't make it there in person in time for her birthday because of my schedule so they were kind enough to mail it to me. I received it within two days in the mail.
