My boyfriend and I were in Chicago and decided to have a massage. Since we booked sort of last minute, we went to the Wicker Park location. Devin was my therapist. We went down a hall lined with cubicles with beige curtains. It had a very desert feel. Since curtains don't provide much soundproofing, there was a loud whooshing noise that probably was supposed to approximate waves. I went to my cubicle, got undressed, and got onto the table. Devin was efficient and gave the right amount of pressure. Oddly, though, she did not work on my arms, and perhaps I should have asked why. It's not the best massage I've had, but it was a nice bit of relaxation. I see there are NOW Massage studios in my area, but there are massage places closer to me that I prefer. I may go to another location if it works out for me, though. read more

The atmosphere if the space in general is fairly relaxing and I love the signature scent as well. While you can find cheaper if you go the chiropractor route, it's an okay option if your become a member for a short time. My partner and I signed up for memberships (for 80 min massages each month) about 1.5 years ago after enjoying several ad hoc sessions during the preceding year. Once on membership, we make it a point at the end of our current sessions to preschedule our next-month massages to occur concurrently. During the past 1.5 years, I had multiple last minute calls cancelling my appointment, asking to change the times for just one of us on short notice, and most recently informing us day-of that they lost one of our appointments. I get it - things happen. I fell ill with the flu the night before a recent appointment and called first thing in the morning to cancel my own session (my partner was able to still keep his concurrent appointment) so as to not risk the health of others by going into the establishment. I of course was still fully charged for my session, which I expect and accept. However, there is no meaningful reciprocity when the circumstances are reversed. When I complained the first time about consecutive months' being cancelled or changed on short notice, the front desk barely apologized while pressing to get our next sessions scheduled. The next time I had to complain about last minute changes, they offered to knock a paltry $20 from our $300+ charge that month and have a manager follow up with me (the latter of which never happened). We both thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to our massages with our therapists, but the administrative side of this location has been one frustration after another. We're cancelling our memberships - which unfortunately I already expect to be another hassle based on the phone call I just had with the front desk - and regrettably have to recommend against patronizing this location. read more

Have the worst pain on my back and luckily had open availability in my schedule to squeeze a massage here. There was a slot that worked, and I booked a 25 min massage online. Upon arrival, I checked in on Yelp and received a free $10 enhancement. I chose the herbal heat treatment to alleviate my back pain. Check in was quick and the receptionist was super friendly. I chose a female therapist and was matched with Anna. She was great and in those short 25 min definitely alleviated my pain. I will definitely return and book a longer session. read more

Terrible buisness practices. Cancelled my membership via the phone as you cannot do it through the app. They tell me that they have to charge me for the next month as there is a 30 day notification requirement which means you will always be charged for an additional month no matter when you cancel. I agreed. They then sent an email that went to my spam folder saying they would love to help cancel my membership or i can opt to freeze it for 3 months. Not replying to the email for after i already cancelled they then charged me for another month of membership. Worse than cancelling a gym membership. Shady buisness and crooked management. read more

I started coming to The Now about 9 months ago. I think they offer good prices for quality, relaxing massages. They have the sound of ocean waves playing in the massage rooms and they use lavender aromatherapy. I always have a great experience. I've been seeing Devin and she's very kind and attentive. She always asks what pressure I prefer and if there's any tense areas I'd like her to focus on, so the massage feels very personalized to my needs. Facility: The place is spotless inside - so serene and calming. The 2 guys at the desk were so kind. They sell products like fragrances, oils, candles, etc in the lobby. The setup in the back makes you feel like you've been transported to the beach because they play relaxing wave sounds. The rooms are separated by heavy curtains for privacy. Massage: The massage was amazing! Crystal used the right amount of pressure since I like light/medium. I really did feel relaxed. I was there today for a prenatal massage, I was on time for my 330pm appointment, they came to get me a little after 330 we talked for a few minutes and went back. I noticed we started at 340 and ended at 420, which is a 40 minute massage instead of the 50 minute massage I paid for. I asked why it was only 40 minutes and was told that us consulting about the massage counted towards the 50 minutes. I've been to other spas and had not heard of that. For the price you're paying the least that can be done is to get the full 50 minute massage. On top of that no water or tea is offered. I booked a couples massage over the phone, and no one mentioned that we wouldn't actually be in the same room. It wasn't until we were called in separately the day of that we found out--at that point, what were we supposed to do? The entire point of booking was to enjoy a relaxing moment together, and that was taken away with zero transparency. I also purchased a few add-ons that were so underwhelming they felt like a cash grab. There are no proper disclosures about how minimal they are. I got the Fresh Eyes add-on, which is advertised as a luxurious under-eye mask--but it was just cheap, thin patches anyone could find at a drugstore. The gua sha add-on? It was barely ten seconds on each arm at the very end of the massage. And the herbal heat therapy? I was left alone for five minutes with a heat pad on my back. No massage, no incorporation into the session--just heat and silence. To top it off, when I walked out of my service, no one told me I had mascara smudged all over my eyes.No one offered me a tissue, a wipe--nothing. It was embarrassing and summed up how little attention or care was given. It wasn't until I reached the front desk and my boyfriend awkwardly pointed it out that it was even acknowledged. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is: this was not a relaxing or quality experience. I won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who values transparency, professionalism, or actually getting what they paid for. I went to The Now Wicker Park last Saturday with a group of friends, hoping for the healing recharge promised on their website. However there were several issues that affected my visit. First, during check-in there where miscommunication on part of their team lead to a delay in our service. Despite a very frustrating check in , I was still looking forward to my 50 minute Healer massage, i even added 3 enhancements(hemp balm, gua sha, heat therapy) to make the most of the experience. However, I received a 20 minute dry, scratchy, partial rub down. My masseuse had a callus on his right hand, barely used any pressure nor the hemp balm I paid for. He actually gave me the leftover balm, I guess for me to use on all areas, he didn't touch during my massage. I would like to believe my experience isolated but my friends also had very underwhelming massages as well, which seems to only consistent part of the service. Overall I wouldn't recommend the establishment to others. My experience was not relaxing or healing in any way. I shouldn't have paid full price and deserve a refund. I shared my concerns that day, and was asked if I would like a call from the management team, which I never received. Beyond the service, which can be variable , I'm most disappointed with their policies and lack concern which doesn't align with their stated values. read more

Was on a casual stroll in Wicker and stumbled upon a grand opening event and the staff was so friendly and welcoming that I couldn't say no. The owner greeted me and was so great at explaining the expansive offerings and even gave me a full tour of the building. If you're someone like me that's always stressed, you'll thoroughly enjoy the tranquility that each of these rooms give off. I tried one of the massages and wow the therapist really took their time and made sure they were working thru my priority stress areas. Printiss was incredible! He could be washing dishes while simultaneously holding a sleeping baby and his touch is so delicate and gentle, no way the baby would even wake. I was more relaxed in this massage than I think I ever have been. Printiss found every single pain point without me sharing those details in advance. It was as if he was "reading" my body throughout our session and knew exactly where to move my limbs to maximize the stretch and open up my extremely tight joints/muscles so he could make the necessary adjustments. I added on the gua sha and cupping services to my massage and boy, I am glad I did. Printiss was an exceptional masseuse, knowledgeable in trigger point therapy, and his hands are a gift - I sincerely want to thank his mother for bestowing his gift upon us restless and weary clients. Thank you for a phenomenal job, Printiss. I will definitely book you again! The only critique I have for the salon is to add more noise machines/fans to the rooms at the back of the spa - right next to the bathrooms. I booked a service as a cancer patient who needed circulation to the lymphatic system seeking additional help. I recently visited Massage Now for a massage 25 minute stretch(which I never received) for $70 massage with added gua sha for $20( and offer at check in to add another, which if baffling cause after the gua she the we did not have time explained by the massage therapist to me and the front desk! Because of this, unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. I booked a session for a 25 minute stretch massage, but what I received fell short of what I expected and paid for. Their lack of attention to detail was evident, as they barely focused on the areas I had requested to be addressed. It felt more like a routine going through the motions rather than a personalized service aimed at providing relaxation and relief. Furthermore, not only did the massage therapist fail to complete the full service I paid for, but I was also shocked to discover that a mandatory service charge for tipping was added to my bill. This seemed unjustified given the subpar experience I endured. Tipping is customary for exceptional service, but in this case, it felt more like an obligatory addition rather than a gesture of appreciation for a job well done. Overall, my visit to Massage Now left me feeling disappointed and dissatisfied especially since I have been to other locations and had great experiences. I had hoped for a rejuvenating experience, but instead, I left feeling stressed and underwhelmed. I would caution others considering this spa to manage their expectations accordingly and perhaps explore alternative options where quality service and customer satisfaction are prioritized. In conclusion, I urge Massage Now (wicker park) to reevaluate their standards of service and ensure that all customers receive the experience they pay for and deserve.
