I met with Dr. Megan who patiently explained what they could do for me with my tinnitus and hyperacusis. I learned things about my condition that no other doctor could tell me. Megan was so patient, kind and informative. After receiving a very thorough hearing test, I was fitted with hearing aids that are meant to help me not be anxious or as aware of the noises coming from inside and outside my head. My sensitivity to noise started right after a head injury and have been debilitating. They have never worked properly and I was told I could use my android phone to control the sound volumne which doesn't work. My tinnitus is terrible and it finally got so bad, that I needed help. I went here and got a hearing evaluation. I was then told I needed a 1K MRI to determine whether or not there was a benign tumor putting pressure on the inside of my ear. I could not afford it so I didn't do it. 6 months later, I can't stand it so I go back and get another evaluation. This time I am told there is another, very inexpensive test that can be done in the office and it would determine if I really need a MRI or not. I went for the test and I had a migraine brewing all day so it wasn't a good day to begin with. I told the PA that I just wanted to have the test done and leave. She did the test , then put me in a room with bright flourescent lights. My migraine went into hyper drive. After 10 minutes of not being acknowledged, I stormed out. So far this doesn't sound like it could be a 5 star review but here's where it gets good. Dr. Pingree called me after I paid the bill and enclosed a note voicing my displeasure. He asked me to tell him in detail what happened and what led to my negative experience. Has anybody EVER had this happen before? I haven't. I was happy to relate to him the details and he was very happy to tell me that this experience will be used as a way to train staff to be more respsonsive to patients and their needs. The point is that Dr. Pingree took time to listen to me and I could sense that he was deeply concerned about his customer care. I will defenitely give them another opportunity to help me in the near future.

I have an uneasy relationship with my hearing loss and hearing aids. I don't particularly care that I'm hard of hearing, and I just train people to look at me when they speak. I don't like hearing aids and consider them a necessary evil. I either haven't worn them, or only wore one, most of my life since age 13. Things changed when my son fell on the stairs in NY, and I couldn't hear him crying for me. My mother, who has acute hearing and a terrible temper, brought him upstairs and yelled, "You need to wear a damn hearing aid!" Well pfft. Upon our return to Colorado, I shuffled my feet off to Hearing Rehab Center, as it was then. I sulked during the hearing test. Dr. Brock fitted me with a top-of-the line LEOPARD-printed hearing aid. I LOVED it. It was tiny, amazing, and LEOPARD. Dr. Brock suggested that I get two, but I refused. Ex-husband and kid(s) were extremely noisy. He never pushed me to get a second one. Over the years, I've stopped by many times for batteries, new domes, new tube thingies, and the occasional overdue hearing test. I've also run over in a complete panic when my aid didn't work. This was usually because of a loose wire. I had to eventually replace the leopard aid, and Dr. Brock guided me to what he thought was the best choice for me. A tiny Oticon aid, in an unfortunate shade of burgundy that matches Oriental rugs perfectly. I am exceedingly grateful to Dr. Brock for making a bad situation (hearing loss) better. He's a genuinely kind, very nice, and thoroughly professional audiologist. He REALLY knows his field, and keeps up with the latest developments and technology. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He's also very pleasant in that he won't push you into making a choice. I really appreciate that. Excellent hearing aids are expensive, even with special pricing. HearUSA has partnered with a couple of major manufacturers in order to offer discounts on some aids. HearUSA also offers the OTC aids for$999. These are suitable for people with mild to moderate loss. Unfortunately, mine is more severe, so those won't help me. But for metalheads or age-related loss, these could work.

I believe Dr. Link is a very good doctor and she cares about her patients but she…read more doesn't take insurance (but you can submit claims yourself which my mom's new doctor said as many times not as effective) and I feel like my mom's hearing aids and care were possibly around $2000 or even a somewhat more than they needed to be. We paid about $6000 up front for high-quality hearing aids which included hearing tests and follow up visits and insurance for the hearing aids but I believe even Dr. Link's office visits are on the high side. I believe we paid 150.00 even for a very short and simple office visit to clean ear wax from a hearing aid. My advice would be to call around because a lot of doctors take insurance and submit for you and the ins could pay for even a portion of the hearing aids plus a good portion of hearing tests. I found a great doctor in the Denver tech center less than 10 minutes away from the audiology method. my mom's hearing test according to her new doctor will probably only be about $18 after insurance is billed. Their hearing aid themselves will be about $2000 and that includes insurance for the hearing aids. Office visits will be about half the cost that Dr. Link was charging. I was able to find a Doctor Who takes insurance after only one phone call. If you don't mind the cost, the office staff is fantastic and I believe Dr. Link would take great care of anyone's hearing needs.

Not only did he understand my actual problem, but when issues came up with my prescription being filled at Walgreens in Parker, he went above and beyond with phone calls and 'arguments' with the pharmacists to straighten out my insurance mess so I could get a refund and not pay out of pocket. He even followed through with phone calls to me. What made him so invaluable to my personal case? I live in Alaska, was visiting family and friends, and had very little time to deal with the mess. Switched to Resound, 5 years later, another Danish company because the signal processing in the electronics had improved quality; noise reduction, focus, music, outdoor, etc. Without signal processing a hearing aid is mostly an amplifier. Wearing hearing aids induces ear wax production which can block the ear drum, cause signal feedback, and decrease auditory signal quality. At an 8 am appointment today, scheduled yesterday at 3:30 pm Dr Sabrina Scott, audiologist, removed the hardened wax plug. No charge. Saved me a visit to an ENT, ear nosr and throat doctor. If you wear hearing aids and notice a decrease in your hearing, may want to have your "audiologist" check you ear wax.
