Karl is professional, courteous and very knowledgeable. He is passionate about helping people regain their hearing, and it shows. The office observes strict covid-19 protocol and I felt safe while I was there. I definitely recommend Karl and Able Hearing.

Friendly, Compassionate, Sincere, and Caring business…read more I am completely blown away by the level of service here. My late mother has purchased a couple hearing aids from this company. I have not got a chance to experience their level of service until recently while my mother was hospitalized as a result of her stroke. We were bouncing back and forth through voicemail but were able to settle a time to finalize the final fitting and take receipt of the hearing aid. They even made the effort to deliver the hearing aid while my mother was staying at OHSU. They test fitted the hearing aid and made sure it was comfortable for her before leaving. Joel was very professional and compassionate to my mothers needs. In the end, he gave us his business card and told us to contact him and let him know how she was doing with the hearing aid to see if any additional adjustments needed to be made. Unfortunately, my mother was only able to use her new hearing aid for only 4 days before she passed away. I had heard from a close family friend that some hearing aid companies would be willing to accept a refund if returned within a short time period. I stopped by here about a couple of days after she had passed and made an appointment with Wayne to work things out. Once again he was also very friendly, professional, and compassionate to our needs and was able to come with a reasonable agreement to return our hearing aid that mom barely even used. Bear in mind that these hearing aids are custom made so I wasn't sure if they could do anything for us which would have been understandable. I'm also sure that results may vary from customer to customer basis but I was glad he was able to accommodate us during this difficult time for our family. I just wanted to take a moment and thank the staff here at Able Hearing. It means a lot to us that you guys went out of your way to accommodate us during this difficult time for our family and am aware that you were more than flexible with our needs. If we have any needs in the future for my friends and family I will be more than happy to recommend you guys for any help with any hearing enhancement products.

I was greeted warmly by the receptionist there, Carrie. She nearly bent over backwards to assist me in my hour of need. Eventually, the audiologist, David, also appeared--after attending to another customer--and he, too, couldn't have possibly been more friendly and attentive to my need. I highly recommend engaging with these good people for any hearing-device needs that you may have. -Howard F.-

If you are in need of hearing aids, AVOID MIRACLE EAR. Here is what happened to me…read more I was enticed by their large full color ad offering a wide range of deeply discounted hearing aids. They offered free screenings and a free hearing test, as well as a 12- month interest-free payment plan. For a limited time they were offering a 30 day obligation free opportunity to try out their newest product. My test indicated that I have significant hearing loss. The Sales Rep made a compelling case for why their top-of-the-line aids were what I needed. I asked how much the aids would cost. When they told me several thousand dollars, I stated emphatically that I could not afford them. They asked if I had insurance and went on to explain that they had insurance experts who would contact my insurance company to find out what my insurance would cover. The next day the Sales Rep called with the "good news" that my insurance would pay for all but $490. I made the decision to make the purchase. Everyone in the office (Receptionist, Technician, Sales Rep) was very friendly. I felt that they were being honest and professional. Forty-six days later I received notice from my insurance company that they would only pay half the cost, leaving me to pay several thousand dollars. I immediately contacted Miracle Ear and I asked to return the aids. They said there was a 30 day return policy, but that I should not worry because their insurance people would appeal the insurance company decision, and they had an excellent track record at winning on appeal. They asked that I be patient while waiting on the appeal. About a month later I received word that the appeal had been denied. I again asked to return the aids and was denied, even though I had not used them since the first denial. I contacted the corporate Miracle Ear Customer Service and was informed that the Miracle Ear offices are franchise operations and are left to make policy decisions on their own. After speaking with my insurance company it appears as if Miracle Ear misled me. At the same time I was having this unfortunate experience with Miracle Ear, my wife purchased similar hearing aids from an Audiologist affiliated with a healthcare system. She received excellent care, a comparable product (although hers are rechargeable and mine require batteries weekly) and hers were almost half the price of mine. I've tried them and they are just as effective. At this point I am searching for legal assistance, but finding that to be very costly as well. So it appears that I am stuck with paying for these aids, which I never would have purchased but for their faulty (if not intentionally misleading) information. There are many professional audiology providers from which to choose. I am a 73-year old retiree on a fixed income. I sincerely wish I had never set foot in a Miracle Ear office.

The good: plenty of medical professionals to choose from, the lab is there, and there's on site physical therapy, with a great team. The bad: Wait times, even with their new 15 minutes before appt check in, can still take a while, and there's no reception in the office so you need their wifi. The ugly: Phreesia. If I didn't love seeing Honey and Ashely in the PT office, I would go elsehwere. Their medical scheduling software, portal, reminder system, all that is hands down the most useless thing in existence. Despite having two folks look at it, I get a call, an email, and a text message, one right after the other, to check in for my appointment. Two people have tried twice to get it to only do 1 of those 3, but it won't take. You can't schedule online. If you try, you'll be there for an hour, checking day by day by day for an appointment that doesn't exist, according to the system. If you call in, they'll find you the first available, and often Phreesia will tell you it's not. And that's with your preferred provider. The patient portal is slow and clunky, takes forever to load, won't let you change things, and half the time, if you reply to a message, it doesn't go through. It errors out, then you're supposed to screen shot it, make a NEW message, attach the image, and send it to the person you were simply trying to reply to. That way they can send it to IT and get it fixed. I get it happens to not everyone, but that seems like a lot of work around. And lastly, the check in process online is fairly smooth, it's more bad than ugly, except thaT Phreesia wants to gather information for more streamlined suggestions for healthcare. I.E. They want to collect your info and sell it. If you say yes, the little window goes away for a year. If you say no, it comes up every time you check in. I left a message with IT to see if they can fix it, but I'm not hopeful.

Initially, I just wanted to resume my regimen from my retired PCP, but this NP (Kate) was enthusiastic and encouraged me to advance my care and wellness. She really wanted me on Cymbalta. That should have been a red flag. I agreed and let the commercial drug geld me under its influence. It had a minor impact to my upper back pain but my deep pain, major spasms and teeth grinding worsened. More diagnostics were obtain and severe cervical spinal degeneration was found, but my neck is a secondary pain after my thoracic spine. Kate refused to order the thoracic MRI because the pain clinic might want to order it with a contrast agent. Ultimately she referred me to several other places, 3 of which were accepted - an acupuncturist, a pain management clinic and a neurologist. I complied with these. She prescribed me a mild analgesic. I adhered to the script and it helped. I thanked Kate. Then she completely changed and started wagging her finger at me about using the analgesic - AS DIRECTED. Unbelievable. Since then I've been treated like a criminal for pursuing pain treatment, which is much worse when the pain medication is then taken away. Thanks, Kate. The landscapes of Modern Medicine and Healthcare are treacherous wastelands. Anyone who can memorize enough text to earn a paper credential is knighted with letters after their name nowadays that in the end, mean squat. Don't go to Kate at NW Primary Care, even though she's very cheerful and nice.
