After failing a hearing test, I went to Able Hearing and worked with Karl. I tried three different brands but ultimately decided not to purchase hearing aids at this time. Friendly, Compassionate, Sincere, and Caring business. I am completely blown away by the level of service here. My late mother has purchased a couple hearing aids from this company. I have not got a chance to experience their level of service until recently while my mother was hospitalized as a result of her stroke. We were bouncing back and forth through voicemail but were able to settle a time to finalize the final fitting and take receipt of the hearing aid. They even made the effort to deliver the hearing aid while my mother was staying at OHSU. They test fitted the hearing aid and made sure it was comfortable for her before leaving. Joel was very professional and compassionate to my mothers needs. In the end, he gave us his business card and told us to contact him and let him know how she was doing with the hearing aid to see if any additional adjustments needed to be made. Unfortunately, my mother was only able to use her new hearing aid for only 4 days before she passed away. I had heard from a close family friend that some hearing aid companies would be willing to accept a refund if returned within a short time period. I stopped by here about a couple of days after she had passed and made an appointment with Wayne to work things out. Once again he was also very friendly, professional, and compassionate to our needs and was able to come with a reasonable agreement to return our hearing aid that mom barely even used. Bear in mind that these hearing aids are custom made so I wasn't sure if they could do anything for us which would have been understandable. I'm also sure that results may vary from customer to customer basis but I was glad he was able to accommodate us during this difficult time for our family. I just wanted to take a moment and thank the staff here at Able Hearing. It means a lot to us that you guys went out of your way to accommodate us during this difficult time for our family and am aware that you were more than flexible with our needs. My family purchased my mom's hearing aids at Able Hearing many years ago and since that time I have purchased the batteries through them and periodically I have taken her in to have her aids cleaned and her ears checked. In the last four years she has been in an Assisted Living facility and Wayne from Able Hearing has come to her facility to do the cleaning. Recently when I contacted Able to schedule another cleaning Wayne suggested a hearing test and new aids but that is something she is not financially able to do. Wayne completely understood and came to her ALF again and cleaned her aids, checked her ears. This to me is spectacular service. Able Hearing knows that other than my battery purchases twice a year or so there is no possibility of hearing aid purchases in the offing but that makes no difference to their level of service. No pressure, no rush; thorough, compassionate, professional. I am caregiver for a 94-year old friend who has had years of severe hearing loss and many hearing aids over time. A mid-2014 move from out-of-state required finding a new audiologist. My friend has been very pleased at the quality of service she has found at Able Hearing in Portland. And I have been equally pleased with the respectful, kind treatment accorded her. Wayne is patient and understanding, truthful in presenting options, doesn't push anything. I have come here in the past and have always got a great customer service. Wayne is super awesome! I came in as a walk-in between appointments. He replaced my aids tubes and cleaned out the corrosion from one of my hearing aid due to the corrosion of battery which was a very unusual occurrence. One call to Able Hearing and I was put in touch with a technician. He made a special trip out to repair my dad's hearing aids so that he could hear what hospice was saying to him. Five years ago I bought hearing aids from Able Hearing through Wayne Brandsen. He assessed my needs, discussed my options, and made a no-pressure recommendations. They were not inexpensive, but they have been spectacularly successful, allowing me to engage in conversations that had eluded me. They required no break-in time; I just put them in and they worked for me, even in noisy restaurants. Wayne has supported me with cleaning, adjustments, re-calibration as my hearing changed, and minor repairs, well beyond the warranty period. In five years my only expenditure has been $10 for a desiccating container (which I highly recommend). Now I live 1000 miles away and the service continues by telephone and mail!
