I was diagnosed with hearing loss as a child and have always struggled to hear, particularly in environments with background noise. While I have been able to work through it, it's become increasingly harder and has begun to impact my social life. While the exam went just fine, Chicago Hearing Society failed to get back to me with any treatment information. I called and emailed the facility repeatedly. Calls went unanswered. Emails were responded to but all I heard was "we are trying to reach your insurance." (I had BCBS.) Eventually I just gave up. If you are hoping for help with your hearing issues, please go somewhere else. I was hoping for relief, but the Chicago Hearing Society just got my hopes up.

For my big 400th review, I needed to think about what I wanted to make stand out in the spot light…read more I have chosen Chicago Hearing Society for a variety of reasons! First, they have been a mainstay and a lifeline to many of my students. If you do not know, I am a teacher of the Deaf. CHS has helped MANY (if not all at one point in time) of my students financing their hearing aids, providing interpreter services, as well as how to set up a VP or TTY in the student's home. Second, June Prusak rocks. She has set up SOOO many youth activities for both children and teens who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing. She's very enthusiastic and dedicated to her work, and it shows. She works extremely well with all levels of students, and has a great rapport with them. I also love the fact that there's a Deafline set up that has a variety of Deaf events set up through the city where I can socialize and meet other educators, as well as members of the Deaf community. Thanks so much CHS! You rock!

As a mom, I…read morewas even more impressed by the depth of commitment and passion for taking care of kids and families here. I can promise you are not just a number here. This is the kind of place where parents bring their kids from day 1, and kids beg to stay until 21! Dr. J will tell it to you exactly how it is, and how the newest research and AAP guidelines tell you it should be. Her delivery is very direct, and I wouldn't want it any other way!

She used to have the benefit of the child in mind but now she's 100% overstepping where she doesn't need to and her focus is everywhere but the children. All I care about in the end is the well being of my children and that my concerns as their parent is heard. I asked about the new vaccination schedule that was announced publicly and was told the current president is an idiot and blah blah blah.... That has nothing to do with my child's wellbeing so why that was even mentioned is beyond me... I was simply just wanting the new vax schedule so I can keep it with my records. Came in again after that for another routine visit to be met with her "bright personality" once again but directed at my weight. I'm there for my children. Focus on them. But if she has the disrespect to say that to me I can only imagine the disrespect she has for the patients or other postpartum mamas. Her "nurse" Shelly shouldn't even be administering shots- she came in with a paper of a baby outline on it and the dr wrote on this paper which leg each vaccination goes in... at this point this nurses was confused and asked me to confirm what she was reading on this paper... should have walked out then but I was so dumbfounded. I let this idiot administer the vaccinations to my baby. DONT GO HERE! She's beyond terrible with her bedside manor and her nurse looks like she's seen better days. The only "normal" one is the receptionist Mary. And Mary is awesome.

This was a very unpleasant experience. Unfortunately, I…read morenever had the chance to meet this doctor. The staff working for her, as well as the medical office itself, behaved in a very confusing and unprofessional manner. I scheduled an appointment through the patient portal after seeing available dates and times for this doctor. However, within a few minutes, my appointment was automatically canceled. I called to ask what happened and was told that the doctor is no longer accepting new patients. This raises a reasonable question: why are appointment slots being publicly listed online if new patients cannot actually book them? I asked the administrator this exact question, but she simply kept repeating the same phrase like a recording: "The doctor is not accepting new patients." I explained that this explanation is not acceptable. If a doctor truly is not accepting new patients, then available dates and times should not be published at all. Instead of addressing the issue, the receptionist began pushing other random doctors on me. If I wanted to see just any doctor, I would have booked one myself. It was important for me specifically to see this doctor, and that was completely ignored. Overall, this felt like a waste of time and very poor communication. Listing appointment availability that patients cannot actually use is misleading and frustrating.
