Really enjoyed my visit here! The white wines were good but the standouts were the sparkling reisling, sparkling rose and dry rose (still). Also loved the cheese and charcuterie plate. They are dog friendly outside.

The outdoor space looked really nice but it was a little odd where they had us sit. We felt like we were in Dextor's lab, about to be dissected. The wines were ok, definitely not our favorites, but drinkable. The prices were rather high for finger lakes wine of that quality level. The staff were very friendly and kind.

Heart and Hands is the perfect winery for my wife and me. I love Pinot Noir, she loves Rieslings and this is exactly what they specialize in. We have been members of the Heart and Hands [Claddagh] wine club for a year now, and very happy that we are. On my last visit, I raised my membership so we'llhave more to enjoy during the year. Heart and Hands is a small family vineyard located on the east side of Cayuga Lake (not really on the "main drag" where you will be warmly welcomed to taste their excellent selections of Pinot Noir and Rieslings. Tom and Susan, the owners and winemakers are extremely personable, and guide you through your tasting experience. Their single vineyard Rieslings are all rich and fruity, nice viscosity, complex, with a long tasty finish. The Pinots are well balanced with multiple layers of taste that keeps you wanting more. They also have a white pinot noir called "Polarity" and a Brut Rose (sparkling wine.) Both of these are classy wines that live up to the philosophy of the winery to "craft the best wines possible from these Finger Lakes vineyards." I like the note on their "TASTE OUR PASSION." Clearly they have a lot of passion for what they do.

My brother had a custom label made to ask his lady to marry him, Heart and Hands has been a favorite since. They are part of their club which I think gives them wine shares monthly. My sister in law was greeted by name when we arrived by friendly folks providing tastings behind the counter. We did a barrel room tasting. I highly recommend this small private setting. You learn a great deal about their vineyards and wine in general. We heard the history of many regions, talked about soil, bugs, picking, genetics, growing without pesticides etc. I would certainly recommend stopping here with a small group. They do not provide services to busses.

Side patio and entrance. Pinot Noir grapes in forefront.

We can't thank the owner and our gracious host, Ellie for a truly fantastic experience. Ellie was not only very knowledgeable but also bursting with passion for what she does. Her warmth, eagerness to share, and overall amazing personality made the visit very special and a standout over many other wineries we've visited. It's one thing to have spectacular wine, but without the right staff who take it to another level, it's just another winery. We're super impressed with the level of excellence this winery delivered. Add it to your bucket list, vacation destination, or simply vineyard hopping. You will not be disappointed.

Of course, the Finger Lakes are KNOWN for wine so we're just thinking we're making reservations for a wine bar (with "speakeasy" vibes). Which that would've been totally cool with us. After continuous back and forth, changing our reservations 50 million times, adding and taking people out, we finally made it to Vinifera on a Friday night and were super apologetic since we had to make yet another change. The staff was absolutely incredible and accommodating, they made sure our party of 10 would be in the same room/table. The only "downfall" was that we'd have to share the room with another small party. Which was absolutely not a problem and we ended up being BFF'S with them by the end of the night. We met the owner Jim - the most incredible human - and he took us down to the speakeasy (which passes right through a super secretive door in the back of the main room upstairs). Side note - the main room upstairs is a vibe on it's own btw and we would've been absolutely fine and happy there. It's an actual wine store and you can purchase all kind of local wines. Be sure to ask and get all the recommendations you want. Not only did we get to enjoy an incredible time but we got a super cool VIP experience and learned the story and so much history about this place, the concept, the origin and what sparked the idea of creating it. That itself, was a treat. On to the actual speakeasy experience. When you go downstairs (through that fun super cool super secretive door) - you're instantly transported to another era, another time. It's dark, it's velvety, chandeliers, spiderwebs (the aesthetic kind, idk if there were actually any but it fit the vibe in my head), Leonardo Da Vinci, Mona Lisa, candles, curtains. There are two super cool rooms, one to the right (which is where our large party sat at) and one to the left - totally recommended for smaller groups, it's cozy, it's chill, you can interact and share with other guests too. Just by this, I'm wowed. As if this wasn't enough, the drinks were absolutely incredible. I ended up ordering some kind of a smoked drink and they happily substituted the regular old fashioned for mezcal. What a dream. Everyone was happy with their drink orders, some ordered some off the menu things and they happily made them - even though they technically only serve what's on the menu. Wine flights are also available if you're in the wine vibe. Bottom line: we loved this place SO much, we came back 2 night's later for our last night. We sat in the other room and absolutely loved and enjoyed it. I had a lavender drink and it was delish. This place is a GEM and you should absolutely check it out and support it if you're in the area. If you're not, well now you have a place I know you'll love to go to!

We made it to the other side of the lake! Our adventure today took us to Izzo's White Barn Winery,…read morea small but welcoming spot tucked into the beautiful Finger Lakes wine region. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with a cozy, down-to-earth atmosphere that made us feel right at home. We started our tasting with their unoaked Riesling, a bright and lively wine crafted from grapes grown along the shores of Seneca Lake. It had an enticing aroma and a clean, crisp finish that really highlighted the natural fruit flavors. Next up was the LaCrescent, a white varietal that was refreshingly dry with a subtle citrusy edge and just the right amount of acidity--perfect for sipping on a cool afternoon. After that, we moved on to the Cayuga White, a semi-sweet offering that had a beautifully smooth mouthfeel and a well-balanced sweetness, making it an easy favorite for those who enjoy wines with a hint of fruit-forward character. Finally, we wrapped up our tasting with the Maréchal Foch, a deep, dry red with rich notes of black cherry and a velvety smooth finish. This one stood out as a great example of how lesser-known hybrid grapes can still deliver bold and elegant flavors. During our visit, we had the pleasure of chatting with the owner (at least, we believe it was the owner!), who shared some insight into the winery's operations. He explained that they grow three to four different grape varietals in their own vineyards, while supplementing with additional grapes sourced from other vineyards throughout the Finger Lakes region. It was clear that there's a strong sense of community among winemakers in the area--he described it as a "big happy family" that collaborates to support each other through every step of the winemaking process. One of the most interesting tidbits we learned was about the live musician performing that day--not only does he provide entertainment for visitors, but he also plays a huge role in the winemaking process, handling 80-90% of the work at the winery! It was incredible to see such a hands-on approach, where passion for both music and winemaking came together in such a unique way. As for the owner himself, he had an infectious sense of humor--quick-witted, engaging, and full of personality, he made our experience even more memorable. The winery is relatively small and appears to have limited hours, especially in the winter when it's only open on Saturdays. If I remember correctly, they may extend to two days a week during the busier months, but it's definitely one of those hidden gems that's worth navigating to if you're in the area. All in all, Izzo's White Barn Winery turned out to be a fantastic stop, offering a delightful mix of great wine, warm hospitality, and local charm. It's the kind of place where you don't just taste wine--you get to experience the heart and soul behind it.
