I absolutely love Dr. Pancari. I brought my baby girl to her for her teeth. She had several loose teeth and needed them to be removed. She was able to get us in for the surgery within 2 weeks. Her and her staff are amazing. They texted me almost every half hour from the time I dropped her off until Soph was awake from anesthesia. I have never been to a vet that offered this service or showed so much compassion for not only my pup, but for me as well. The prices there are reasonable and I will be bringing all of my furbabies to her from now on. My mom's furbabies are also going to Dr. Pancari as well. I clearly stated that I would pay anything extra for this doctor to see my beloved pets after hours no matter what the cost I would even pay it upfront and I was met with such dismay and disregard so you know what I refuse to rewrite this review and place it out there for all of you to read and feel my RAW feelings and desperation from that day in hopes that you can avoid the same heartbreak that I had to endure due to this places severe lack of compassion. Here's my review: I called this vet in an emergency situation for my Guinea Pig who was deathly ill and after calling around and finding the only local vet that would see (Exotics) Guinea pigs I begged for an appointment only to be told they could try and fit me in NEXT WEEK!!?? I told them my beloved piggie wouldn't make it until tomorrow let alone next week and that they are the only vet in 50 miles that would take Guinea Pigs and I would do & PAY ANYTHING UPFRONT for an appointment, to which I was met with "We are all booked up for the day!" WTH I just got finished telling you that my pet was very if not deathly ill and I desperately needed their assistance! I also told them "I will pay extra if you can either fit him in or even more if the Dr has to stay after hours and again that my loving pet won't make it until tomorrow!, let alone next week and was willing to pay extra to end their suffering if necessary, Begging please help me!" yet again I was met with a cold and calloused response telling me they are totally booked and there was nothing they could do to fit me in!!! It's not like it's Christmas or New Year's or some major holiday it's a random Thursday! This review is long overdue. I was introduced to Dr Greco by a friend that has been bringing her pets to this office for many years. Approximately 5 years ago a neighbor of mine lost her home to foreclosure and left behind over 15 feral cats that she had been feeding. It was at this time that it was brought to my attention that these innocent abandoned cats were not spayed or neutered. Within 2 weeks 3 females gave birth to 12 kittens in my back yard. I reached out to several no-kill shelters but was turned down for help because they were all filled to capacity. My friend recommended that I contact Dr Greco for assistance with low cost spray and neutering. Dr Greco agreed to help at a substantial discounted rate because they were feral. It took me over 2 months but I was able to humanely trap every adult cat to spay, neuter and well check. Dr Greco is my hero. I am forever grateful. I am happy to report that I found loving homes for every kitten ( I have 2) and ever adult cat ( I have 1) To this day I bring my pets to Dr Greco for outstanding care. His staff is professional, friendly, accommodating and extremely patient. I fully trust this practice and highly recommend. Dr Greco is the veterinarian to Suffolk County P.D. Canine Unit. I've been taking my dog with kidney failure there for about two months now. Dr.P has absolutely no bedside manner. I mentioned that I was looking online for kidney failure, friendly meals... She said my first mistake was searching online. Meanwhile, she had never given me direction in the past when I have seen her about what his diet should consist of. She put him on medicine and he started having some issues with it. It was Friday morning. I called to please get some answers if I should stop the medicine or if this was normal... They said they would get back to me , after calling at 4:50 PM they said she's not gonna be back until Monday(as if that wasn't known in the morning when I first called)! I asked Shelly at the front desk If the other doctor that was in the office can please take a look at my dogs chart he's in kidney failure. I need to know what to do about this medicine... They said no unfortunately we cannot do that. .. I have spent so much money in 2 months, taking my poor boy there and I have received absolutely nothing no answers no food suggestions no sympathy... Nothing! The nurses seemed nice .On my last visit ,. I was led to believe two blood tests were needed when all I needed was a creatinine test for the kidney functions and it was on the original full panel... So they did try and charge me for two blood tests. I would never go back there again. I scheduled an appointment somewhere else... I'll eat the cost and the waste of time and tell anybody and everybody never to go there. Dr.Denise Pancari was awful! My friend works here!!! This is there experience: The owner, who seemed to me to very sexist, screaming at workers calling them idiots. Threatening to fire them & that they should start to look for new jobs. That I could tolerate. My patience ran very dry & I was very disgusted to learn the way this man ran a business. Yes a business is a business. But this stuff is absolutely unacceptable and disgusting. My coworkers telling me how he throws cats down on the table. At first, I was like I need to see this for myself. The next incident, a man asks to have surgery on his cat Monday. The doctor doesn't get to it till Tuesday. Tuesday they're not open to the public, but receptionist is there to take calls. The doctor and the "vet tech", the "vet tech" who has no college degree or training, come in for the surgery. They do surgery put the cat in the back. Then leave. The receptionist checks on the cat & notices it's not breathing okay. The doctor leaves to get something, the tech goes outside to smoke pot/ a cigarette. The receptionist goes and tells the "tech", the "tech" said eh it's fine. An hour later the receptionist goes to check on the cat, it's dead. They tell the owner it died during surgery. No it didn't. They left it to suffer and die from an easy fix if the "tech" could of just checked on the cat. Then, I'm not there a week. My co worker shows me something in these PLASTIC drawers. No air holes, so light or sun shine. Just a paper towel & if they're lucky maybe food. In these drawers he has a bunch of crested geckos. They need to be misted so they're skin can shed, they're not. They're not acknowledged at all. Then, the "tech" never labeled the dog bodies in the fridge. The crematory picks them up. We get back ashes when at man wanted a paw print. Well too late now no pawprint and now the owner doesn't even know if it's actually his dog or not. They don't know if they cremated the right one. THEN, I'm told lie, when patients will medical problems come in and ask to bored or stay over night. I'm supposed to tell them yes, well. No one ever stays over night. If dog or pets has issues. They are left alone so if something happens. There's no one around to help. Please do NOT, take your animals to the animal medical hospital of Centereach. The doctors name is Dr. Greco. He's just in it for the money. He could give a damn less about your animal. read more

Every single person that works in this facility is selfish and inconsiderate and all they do is try to sell you a sales pitch. They wasted my time, didn't help my cat that was dying, sent me to a ER for Animals that wouldn't give any type of medical attention unless I coughed up $2500 just for them to put a IV in. Then charged me $150 for doing a simple check up and a release, do yourself a favor. Don't waste your time here. I drove 50 Miles to FRANKLIN SQUARE and got better medical attention and payed less then half the price ! A&A in Franklin Square. I have visited this hospital a few times with different pets since the new vets took over. I couldn't be happier. I had been a vet tech for 17 years so I am EXTREMELY picky and judge-mental when it comes to my animals. That being said, the new staff are rockstars. They made sure my pet and myself were at ease, explained what they needed to do and why. They didn't know I had experience in the field , and they didn't try to throw in extras to pad the bill like so many corporate owned hospitals are doing now. Hi, my name is Lee and my Golden Retriever, Cooper, was scheduled for an appt today, 7/15/23 at 10:00am for his annual. Since Cooper is strong my friend John, took my Cooper to his appt. Unfortunately when they arrived John was told there was no appt. for Cooper on their calendar. John showed them the card, but it didn't matter. John was told they are "reminder appt cards". John said, this IS NOT a "reminder appt. card" this is a "scheduled appt. card" that was made a month ago in your office with me and Lee. John knew the front desk was lying. Frustrated, John then asked the front desk to confirm my other fur baby (Sam) appt. for Monday, 7/17/23 and was told once again, no appt. scheduled for Sam on that date either. John couldn't believe it. When John came back he told me what happened and I was livid. John continued to tell me that it didn't matter to the front desk what he said or what he showed them, they just made 2 more appts. Per John, the front desk made no attempt to have my Cooper be seen, no accomodations whatsoever AND it was clearly their error!! They run this office as a business, no compassion no love. Needless to say I canceled the 2 appts. and now am looking for a new Vetenarian. Oh, and by the way, a few days ago I received an email reminding me of Sam's appt. for Monday 7/15/23 at 3:00pm, but it wasn't for 3:00pm it was scheduled for 2:00pm. I'm only giving one star bc there is no option to give zero. This office is awful. I had a bad experience previously years ago and only went back bc of Liz, who is no longer there. Liz was amazing, however I can't say that for the rest of the staff. I called Monday to make an appointment only to be blown off by the receptionist Allison. I explained my Guinea pig was exhibiting respiratory symptoms and needed to be seen. I was given a 3pm appointment, I called at 8am. I was told it was up to the doctors if she could be seen sooner. I called periodically throughout the day begging for her to be seen earlier, they couldn't accommodate. After my Guinea pig was seen I left with antibiotics, I was also told her kidneys were slightly enlarged. The antibiotics she was given were the same she was given previously 2 weeks ago for another issue but the dose was significantly lower. When I questioned the vet tech he said her previous dose was high and was an error but it was okay. (To avoid confusion my pig was previously seen by Dr. Pancari)my Guinea pig was either over dosed on her medication the first time around or under dosed the second time around. I also remember questioning the staff at her previous visit bc her urine was dark (I was told by the vet tech at that visit that it was normal, it wasn't) I call Tuesday bc my Guinea pig was in distress and I wanted to know if she was dying so I could do the humane thing for her only to be blown off once again with a "take her to the ER". I called at 5:15 I guess they were in a rush to leave. Today I see their Facebook post they are now taking walk ins, seriously? They truly do not care for your pet. I will never be returning to this god awful place again. I did go to the ER and my Guinea pig passed away. They could not believe the lack of education given to me regarding the antibiotic she was on and the dose. Do your research before going here. Many reviews just like mine. UPDATE: Was called by the office manager yesterday who had ZERO remorse for the pain they caused and told me due to the fact I was unhappy we could cut ties. MISDIAGNOSED MY DOG. I am glad I followed my instincts regarding Dr Greco. I bought my 5 year old dog in to be seen as I could not get her an appt at the vet I normally use for several days. After calling a few places I was able to get a next day appt here with Dr Greco. The tech came in the room and without even observing my dog told me The dog tore it's ACL. Then Dr Greco comes in and does a quick 2 minute exam and asks me to leave the dog with him so he can sedate her and take X-rays and do an exam on the dogs leg but never tells me what he suspects it is. It rubbed me the wrong way just how aloof and callous this man was. So as the tech starts calculating the cost he asked about about code for IV insertion and I realize they are going to use an IV sedative on my dog. I said I didn't feel comfortable and I will wait and take my dog to her vet. I asked the cost out of curiosity which I was informed was 725 dollars for 3 X-rays, iv sedation so the dr could examine my dogs leg. So I paid 68 dollars for the exam and was getting ready to leave when the vet came out to ask if I didn't understand anything. So I questioned him on why they can't give an oral sedative or a local anesthetic and I was met with hostility...and informed that maybe I should go to Grady animal hospital, which is where I told them I was bringing my dog. Well I got a cancellation at Grady and Dr Greco was not even correct in his assumption that it was the dogs leg, which I suspected was incorrect since the dog was having difficulties walking with both legs not one. My dog has ivddd and could have had a better prognosis if Dr Greco would have properly diagnosed her or at least given a damn about my dog instead of just trying to rip me off and make money. I am glad I trusted my instincts and now I can only pray the medicinal approach with cage rest helps and that my dog is not too far gone due to the fact that his lack of assessment skills has caused more time to pass before a proper diagnosis and therefore caused a delay in treatment to my dog. STAY AWAY! GRADY did a physical assessment gave us prescriptions for steroids and pain medication and drew blood work and the bill was 240 dollars. They gave me the option to try medicinal treatment and a referral for a surgeon if I decided to go that route. They did not suggest any such treatment this vet suggested and was 1/3 of the cost and they are friendly and compassionate. Just don't bother with this place. read more

Sometimes you may feel a little bit rushed, but they do provide you with quality analysis and premium service. This place is also cheaper than many vets in the area. Last time I went, the regular checkup was only 30+ dollars. One thing I don't like about the place is 1)they have like 10 parrots,small birds, outside by the waiting area and they don't stop CHIRPING! It is so annoying when you wait for like 5-10 minutes, you get a headache by the time you go in. They are LOUD, i'm telling you. 2)their windows are not tinted or have any curtains - and they are positioned EXACTLY into the sun. From 10am-3pm you will be bombarded by the sun - add that with the loud birds - oh man. 3)Parking is hell, they have a tight lot that is shared with 3 other stores and house only like 12 spots in total. 4)Located on a busy Rt 25 - you might have to wait for 10-15 minutes for all the cars passing by before you exit the parking lot. 5)The front desk don't necessarily have the friendliest receptionist/assistants. It's too bad, with their good price and quality diagnostics/vets this place deserved four stars. But all those negatives hurt their ratings. read more

I was highly recommended to doctor greico. first time owning one of these cute lil spiky creatures so I wanted to listen carefully to what the vet had it say which was not much!!! first visit was fine ,2nd visit Eliot ingested alot of calcium sand and had to get a xray (DIRTY GROSS BACK ROOM NO WONDER ANIMALS GET SICK HERE) and needed meds to help him poop it out lol.,never called for a recheck or anything just took my money and sent me on my way. 3 time was just a check up ,4th visit I noticed he was being a little funky so I brought him back. doc said ahhh he seems to be normal fine do you wanna do blood work on him and I said yes please let's make sure he's ok early. he took blood and my money and set me on my way. after that blood work eliots health has gone down. he has swollen wrist now I notice so I bring him back doc says ahh he's got soft bones and tells me to use calcium powder on all his food and get new uvb lights which all my lights were updated cage is always clean. once again he takes my money and sends me on my way. now his health is fading and his mouth is alway open and notice blood in his mouth. the next day my mom brings him to the vet , I was almost maxed out on my care credit funds so my mom let him know this ,so he said it was an abscess in his mouth and that he was gonna take him in the back to wash him up and give him an antibiotic shot,well he also did blood work without my permission or my moms which made my bill 290.00 (sneaky scumbag) in the last 4 months I've spent over 900.00 there with one free check up and no answers on what was going on with eliot next day I get a call from doc saying eliots in bad shape and we needs to do a bunch more test on him blah blah blah, I said how come all thesd times I've been here you didn't know he was in bad shape until now which will cost me all my pay checks. his reply to that was maybe you know better then me,.even after all my surgeries and all my schooling I guess I just don't know so why dont YOU. tell me how to fix him well I hung up on him because I don't feel him talking to me the way he was was right and honestly so disrespectful and heartless! now Eliot will probably die because I chose the wrong vet and just took someones word for it. this vet is dirty, heartless and cold they don't care about you and you pet or how your feeling about your pet being sick he cares about the money and thats all. research your vet first please!I will make sure I get this message around! every social media is gonna know how he's all about the money! read more

An update I take back stars that I left because if I could be zero I would. I wanted up having to euthanize my dog a month after the unnecessary surgery and $2,000 later. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE. They are very unprofessional, they are very messy, they do NOTHING in regards to your pets needs. They are not polite to customers. I called one time to bring my pet in for an appointment to get neutered. The day before, Sunday, I called to confirm the appointment the next day, Monday. They said I did not have an appointment and that I couldn't come in to get my pet neutered, so I had to make another appointment for that upcoming Friday. I, then, had brought my cat for his appointment to get neutered that Friday, and they said I was not in the system, AGAIN, and they could not do the neuter. They had told me my cat would need a blood test, when he got neutered which was not going to be that day on Friday, so I told the nurse I did not want to have my cat checked on two seperate days (since they were so messy and could not even ONE appointment) and that I wanted NOTHING done to my cat that day, but I asked for a price on the blood test. The nurse said she would get me a price from the doctor and come back. She then came back with the doctor AND NO PRICE and then proceeded to check my cat. And by "check" I mean put a stethoscope up to his heart and say he is "good". Then I was "all done" and I had to pay $68 for a vet check.... WHICH I TOLD THEM NOT TO DO. Good thing I am never bringing my pet back there for a neuter or ANYTHING ELSE! I highly recommend that no one brings their pet to this place and have to pay for zero to no service that they ask for :) I paid what I "had" to pay for and tried to dispute it later when I had calmed down, but the bank reversed the dispute and said I had to talk to them since "it was a valid purchase" even though I already explained to the bank why I paid for the bill. When I called Kaitlin from Animal Medical Hospital of Centereach to talk about getting my money back because I told the nurse I didn't want the service the charged me for, she said "Why didn't you just take your cat and leave?" .... I just made an appointment with this clinic for my two dogs. Like the previous reviewer, I was only prompted to write this review because of my unpleasant experience with the receptionist Mary. I've taken them to this place several times and have had the good fortune of having avoided direct contact with Mary thus far... til today. But please know that the vet we use, Dr. Simone-Freilicher, is wonderful and so are her assistants. I would give this place a 5 star if it were not for Mary. Her tone is rude and she is totally incompetent. When I called, she asked me what she can help me with, when I was in mid sentence, she rudely interrupted me and told me she's going to put me on hold because there is another call coming in. 10 minutes later, I'm finally off hold. I tell her I need to make a dental appointments for my two dogs. She asked me for my last name and seemed confused that my name was so short... Then she asked me what my dog's name is. I told her Hamachi. Then she asked me what kind of animal Hamachi was.... I'm pretty sure we've mentioned several times that my pets were dogs and she even asked me what my dog's name was... But I told her dog. Then she asked me what kind of dog he is. I've never had a receptionist ask me this as all this information is in the computer database and a total waste of my time. I asked her if this isn't information they already have--she told me that she's not at the computer but writing all this down. ok, whatever moving on. Then I told her my other dog's name is Millie. Shocked, she asked me: There's another one?! Dr. Greco is great. Very knowledgeable about exotics. Got our beardie healthy from the brink of death. Receptionists were great too.

This is the absolute worst place you could ever take your animal, please I'm literally begging you to never take them here. A few years back they over vaccinated my dog and she died. It was the worst experience ever, and also recently they had lost one of our friends cats while it was there to get neutered. They said it got lost in the wall, why do you have a hole in your wall at a vets office? They never got their cat back. Please don't ever go here. read more

I'm honestly surprised by all of the negative reviews left. It seems that the bad reviews left were by people who didn't care for their pets properly to begin with. Unvaccinated dogs, reptiles obviously experiencing side effects from wrong husbandry (calci sand for a beardie?).. And bunnies. Bunnies are at very high risk of death from anesthesia, it's just a fact. I had been a client of Dr Greico for over 20 years before I moved. Dr Greico saw my parrot Teeko, an African grey baby that was ill from the pet store I worked in. He did not survive the enlarged liver. But he did save many other pets that I brought in. My parrot Rocky (he is over 20 years old now) broke his beak in half biting the pad lock on his cage. I don't know how, but he fixed it!! I was only 16 at the time, and was able to afford it at my pet store minimum wage job. He saved my dog that was attacked by a pittie too! He did a mastectomy on her and removed her cancer as well. He has seen my snakes, lizards, birds, dogs, and has never been cold. He's one of the most caring vets I ever met and my only wish is for him to come to Florida with me!! This vet is not a killer, negligent, or anything these people say. Have the ability to afford vet care and don't act like paying a bill during an emergency makes up for the lack of vet care you provided the rest of the animals life!!! read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!! NEVER EVER bring your pet to this animal hospital of DEATH! We took our extremely healthy 6 month old female bunny to get spayed and my sweet little bunny never came home. DEF DUE TO NEGLIGENCE!!! Most likely too much anesthesia. DO NOT BRING YOUR PET TO THIS VET!!! Not only did they kill my bunny, but were very inconsiderate and NOT compassionate regarding our loss at all. btw-this was a dr that was supposedly an expert in bunnies....this hospital should be shut down!!!!!!!!!! read more

seemed to go out of his way to make me uncomfortable... don't think he liked the way I looked

First let me state that the cat i brought in was dealt with gently and I knew there would be a possibility it might need to be euthanized. It was a stray that showed up in my driveway came right up to me and rubbed against my leg. This was definitely an abandoned pet, shame on all those who dump their animals! Its face and eyes were all messed up and i thought it had been in a fight. I called savapet who offered no help but suggested this vet. The cat showed up again just before the nor'easter i called and the vet told me to bring it in the next morning. I explained the whole situation and made it clear this was a stray. I brought it in for the night and kept it away from my pets. It was very sweet. The next morning I took it to the vet, where I again made it clear this was a stray they did a feline aids test and exam and told me it was to sick to be saved and would be euthanized. Broke my heart but I knew it might happen. I asked if i would owe anything for this and was told it would be discounted. so reason for 1 star at no time was i told the exact cost till my credit card was requested. The fee was about $300.00 most of which was for the exam and euthanasia and cremation. Once again a stray not my pet. the discount offered was 30. So for helping a stray animal i was charged nearly $270. they did offer to remove the cremation charge if I brought the animal home to bury (during the storm). Once again I pointed out this was a stray animal. I have read online that many vets will waive charges or greatly reduce them. Be WARNED this is not one of those vets. It is shameful that there is so little compassion in this world and so much focus on money. I hope i did the right thing and that the animal was not better off without my help read more

I have been to the Animal Medical Hospital of Centereach a few times- mostly for yearly shots for my dog. I have had no problems with the vet or the vet assistants they were all average. However the crazy loon Mary that is the receptionist there has finally driven me away. She is rude to people who call in and rude when you are there waiting. She has no office manners and does not act professionally. Also the waiting room is very small and if there is more than one dog in the office they are bound to meet- which some dogs are not very nice. This is the place we brought our big pup Max to for X-rays and he died while in their care. Max was only 21 mos old. Now while they will never admit the truth, it is my belief that they did not properly follow sedation protocol for large breed dogs like Cane Corsos and other mastiffs. In brief conversation after Max's passing the vet Dr Greco admitted that he did NOT perform pre-sedate testing. His explanation is that because Max was not a "people person" he could not draw blood. However, he was able to administer the sedative (of course because Max was muzzled and I and my 20 yr old son assisted). However they have very kindly offered to waive ALL charges as well as pay for cremation. Now instead of having our very protective, BIG, young healthy family dog we will have a nice urn full of dog ashes. read more

I have been bringing my dog here for years. We love seeing Dr. Armfield, she is very compassionate and knowledgeable. She takes the time to do a thorough exam and explain everything. She is always pleasant and her assistant Janice too. However, we've had bad experience with Briana the assistant. She is rude and I've heard her curse outside the exam room door. She is not professional but the other staff makes the place worth it. read more

I would just like to let others know how happy we are with this Veterinarian Practice. They are A++++ in our opinion. Unfortunately, over the past 8 months, we have had to euthanize 2 of our beloved pets and sadly another one today. If you have been lucky enough to have the love of an animal in your life, you will know how rough it is to lose one. We have been seen by both Dr. Greco's, and also Dr. Perry. The Staff could not be more kind and compassionate and caring and one of the technicians even gave me a hug when I was sobbing. They made the room as warm and comforting as possible with a soft fuzzy blanket, low lighting,gave us as much time as we wanted. Not only is their euthanasia care good, their regular care is top notch. They were more than happy to give me a written prescription to get my medication generically at a lower price. I have always been treated kindly and with respect. Thank You to everyone, Vets and Staff. Your work is much appreciated. Absolute horror! This place let two innocent unborn puppies die inside their mother because they THOUGHT my family couldn't pay. Tell me why a supposed doctor would induce labor on a dog, tell us to wait an hour before having a C-Section, and then just send the dog home telling us to come back in two days, without performing the operation they already told us was needed.
