My wife and I had the blessing of meeting and working with Kathy Wilkerson for our marriage ceremony in August 2023 at the Marin Civic Center. From the first online inquiry, I was able to set up an exploratory call with Kathy within a few hours. She asked insightful questions and listened attentively. She was interested in the style preferences of both myself and my bride, even down to what we wanted her to wear at the ceremony. Being from San Diego, we were less familiar with the Marin Civic Center. Kathy offered recommendations about different spots we could potentially use for the ceremony, and the pros and cons of each. When we were planning our wedding, we initially thought we would ask a friend or family member to officiate (after all, it seems all the rage right now...). Ultimately, we decided to go with Kathy, for a few reasons -- logistically, it seemed easier to go with a pro, since we wouldn't have to worry about whether everything was actually fully legalized. Plus, we didn't want to stress out any of our guests! Organized - she asked us more questions then we asked her in our first call! That really impressed us and made me feel comfortable she was a super planner. Ladies and gents, if you're reading this, it means that she said yes! Congrats! What it also means is that you've started on your exciting (and sometimes daunting) task of planning for your wedding. Let me give you one word of advice, If it feels right, go with it (within reason, of course). Trust your intuition. When you know, you know. When it comes to Larry, we knew. From the moment we met him at the Starbucks at Vintage Oak's we knew we wanted him to be our officiant. He came prepared with handouts on different ceremony types, ceremony layouts... and these were for us to keep! Even if we decided not to go with him! He asked the right questions, spent the time to get to know us, gave us interesting tidbits of ceremonies he had officiated in the past, and made us feel at ease about the process. The months following our initial meeting with Larry flew by! But, like clockwork, Larry contacted us a few months out to finalize our wedding ceremony. He offered scripted examples (pages, and pages of examples) for inspiration, but also gave us the option to write our own from scratch. When it came to the rehearsal, Larry was on point. Trust me, when you have 4 groomsmen and 4 bridesmaids who are all friends and act like 12 year old's with a serious case of ADHD because the last time they all got together as a group was circa 2005, you NEED someone like Larry to whip them into shape. He was assertive, but not pushy. Making sure everyone knew their cues. How to file, when to enter, when to exit, timing... and my personal favorite,how to put one another's rings on so the cameraman gets the perfect shot! Needless to say, the wedding ceremony was executed flawlessly. At the end, he hands you this packet that contains your vows bounded along with additional instructions! Life changing instructions like the order that the bride needs to follow when changing her name, where to start, where to go to obtain your marriage license, passports, etc. I mean, you can Google how to do all of these things individually (which takes time), but why would you when you have Larry? It's after this that you think he's done... You'll say your goodbye's. Thank him for being such a great officiant. But this is where your wrong! He emails you to let you know he's submitted your paperwork to the city and again to let you know you're golden! In conclusion, you'll want someone like Larry to officiate your wedding! While planning the wedding, I was most concerned about finding a good officiant. In my opinion, the ceremony is the most important part because it is the part where you actually commit yourself to one another. I think I looked at so many reviews and webpages to find the perfect person. Finally, my wedding coordinator recommended Kathy Wilkerson and her husband Larry. I went home and eagerly looked at their webpage. One of the things that instantly set them apart was the videos they have on their site of other weddings they have done. I didn't find anyone else that did that, which is probably why it was so difficult for me to find someone I liked. Anyway, my fiance and I watched some of the videos and one of them had the most beautiful word. I think we both teared up while watching the video and I think we knew they were the officiants for us. We contacted Kathy and she got back to us letting us know she was available for our date and we were so happy. I finally felt like it was all coming together. At that point Kathy gave us so much information about ceremonies and the legal necessities to getting married. She helped us to craft the perfect ceremony for us. At one point we decided to make the ceremony more personal by adding some details about our relationship. I looked online and surprisingly had a had time finding things other people had done. Aside from all the good reviews I read about them, they are also the CHEAPEST! Boy these other officiants charge soo much! Larry officiated our wedding. He gave me a TON of information that helped my ceremony planning such a breeze! I mean they'll give you different kinds of sample ceremony, wedding checklist, even the ceremony seating and processional chart! I mean I did not sweat at all in planning my ceremony. He responded right away to my emails. We had a conference call before the wedding basically to discuss how the outline of the ceremony. How to apply for marriage license. We spent a lot of the time getting to know eachother. He has years of experience and has done just about every style of wedding. He can do weddings in multiple languages and cultures as well. He made us feel very comfortable about our small somewhat unorthodox wedding. A few months prior to the wedding he sent us different ceremonies printed out for us to choose from. He then allowed us to tweak them as we wanted and sent a final copy back for verification. When everyone was lost getting to my wedding and it was delayed, he was a very good sport about it. He comforted me and my guests as we waited for everyone. He was in a full suit and it was HOT!! He was never frustrated about the obsticles we encountered. Larry was so amazing to work with for our destination wedding in Rutherford, CA and he held our hands throughout the entire process of planning our wedding ceremony. He provided many helpful suggestions and gave us ceremony templates that we could easily change to reflect our feelings and personalities. He has a tremendous amount of experience and was instrumental in everything going so smoothly during our ceremony. He was also exceptionally patient, kind, and responsive throughout the planning process and he was flexible as we made several changes along the way. We were detailed in what we wanted to incorporate as well as the verbiage we preferred to use and he was always very accommodating of everything we wanted. The day of our wedding was pretty chaotic and when I met him, he had a very calming and warm presence, which allowed me soak in the moment and center myself so I could enjoy this incredibly meaningful part of our day. Kathy was the absolute perfect choice for our officiant. From the first communication she was responsive, polite and very thorough. I cannot say enough great things about her. She made our ceremony so special. First by giving us several choices to read through and choose our own to helping us put it together in a way that made sense. Larry officiated our wedding in April. He was great! I had a really hard time finding an officiant. Honestly, a lot of them seemed kind of weird or cheesy, and we don't go to church (we got married outside at Stern Grove). I found and contacted Larry only about 6 weeks before the wedding. Because my fiance and I were so busy, we didn't meet Larry in person until the day of the wedding, and I only communicated with him through email. He sent me a lot of helpful information and ceremony options/suggestions though and we were able to put together the perfect simple ceremony we wanted. He was very professional. He gave me a lot of information. He arrived extra early (making sure he didn't get stuck in traffic). Afterward, he gave me a copy of the ceremony and information about getting our marriage certificate and changing my name. He even asked someone to remind me to move my engagement ring over before the ceremony. I was a little scattered in the weeks leading up to the wedding, but Larry was on top of everything.
