My husband and I stopped here for lunch on a whim, curious to check out what took over the old Henry's spot. We sat outside, on one of the many outdoor tables facing the small private alley. The service was a little slow, but we weren't in a hurry so it was fine for us. If we were here for a business lunch, it might have been annoying. The food is solid. The steak frites were cooked to a beautiful medium rare, topped with a tasty chimichurri. The fries were crispy and nicely salted. The ahi tuna poke bowl was a substantial size for a lunch portion, and was a delicious, lighter meal that was still satisfying. I asked if one of the cocktails could be made into a mocktail, and they made it for me, but note that the mocktail was the same price as a cocktail. I was fine with it, but if you want to pay less for the same drink without alcohol, I suggest ordering one of the standard mocktails on their menu. It was tasty! The restaurant is large and spacious, making it a great option for larger parties, and great if you are out and about in the Pearl District and need a spot to walk in for a solid meal. We really enjoyed our lunch here and will no doubt return with friends in the future, since we're in this part of town a lot. read more

Overall this was a gem to find. Excellent food and service. We had Andrew H. as our server. My family is traveling from Southern California, and if we ever come back to Portland, we would definitely love to eat here again. My mother and I shared the ricotta fresca, and we both adored it! Trying this new spot for the first time. The hostess greets us with, "How can I help?" It threw me off because it felt cold and unwelcoming. Ambience: The environment is leaning towards classy but then you see the sports TVs above the bar and immediately lose that vibe. Seating is comfortable - no coat rack or purse hooks fyi. Food: We tried the shrimp cocktail which was served w/ 2 sauces- the expected cocktail sauce and then weirdly tartar sauce. Why? I don't know- that doesn't belong there. Next we had the incredibly bland mushroom pasta served with no serving utensils. Zero flavor and I mean ZERO. We asked for salt and I just kept trying to make it taste better but eventually stopped eating it because it was just so bland. Next came the croquettes, served with a lemon? And red pepper aïoli. They were OK. The breading and fry on this was way too thick. Then we tried the salmon sticky rice, again zero flavor. Then we tried the meatballs again, while under seasoned, this is probably the only dish we tried that had the most flavor and it was still bland. I'm not even joking when I say half way through our meal I said "Do we have Covid and we lost our sense of taste or is this food just extremely bland?" Service: Aside from the hostess, who seemed cold, we had excellent service! Overall bland food is the theme of my review. If tasteless, low sodium/flavor is your jam then you'll probably love this place. We won't be coming back unfortunately it wasn't worth $ 100+ price tag attached. read more

Ambience was nice and comfortable, and even though there was a lot of people it wasn't too loud. Service was great, although they were very busy and it was hard for the staff to keep up (it seemed). I dont drink alcohol so I always appreciate the addition of mocktails to the menu. The berries and cream mocktail did not disappoint. We had three dip appetizer which was delicious, but we had to ask for some more chips because there wasn't nearly enough bread and chips for how much dip there was, but they brought more. As someone who FREQUENTED Henry's I was so looking forward to trying out this new restaurant and I finally had the opportunity to this weekend. Food: overall 4/5 Half chicken: 4/5, moist, packed with flavor (a lemon flavor) and enough to take home for a second meal Steak Frites: 4/5, my friend ordered it, she loved the fries and the flavor of the steak, the cut of the meal though was a bit chewy for her liking. Ricotta: 4/5, loved the truffle honey, that set it off. I didn't like the fried flatbread that came with it though, I would've preferred more of a baguette style bread Caesar salad: 3/5, what can I say, it was a Caesar, nothing to write home about. Now for the things that could use some improvement, very minor-- We ordered a bottle of Prosecco and it was poured into a large wide mouth container to which I did not like! I prefer to have the bottle served in an ice bucket. I can see that for wine for but not for bubbles The lunch menu was pretty heavy, I wish there were some lighter options on there especially for a weekend brunch I will definitely be visiting again, often! read more

New restaurant in the old Henry's. Really nice decor, great serveware, staff is 10/10 hospitality. We got the steak frites and jamon truffle pizza. Food is ok..steak frites are better at Jake's, and the pizza had zero truffle flavor. Pro tip / we added hot honey onto the pizza and then it was bomb! Bathrooms are still old Henry's and not super clean. You get $20 to sign up for their mailing list and $35 on your bday! Happy hour every day 3-5! Will be back to try more food. It's our cross to bare living in Portland with truly exceptional food. If I had this in let's say Nashville, where even their water seems deep fried, this would have hit it out of the park :) read more

It is nice to see something finally go into the old Henry's spot in the Pearl. We stopped by for a quick bite and were glad to see it packed with people. We had the H&V Old Fashioned, which was rye based. We also shared a pepperoni pizza and braised meatballs. The meatballs were decent, with the ricotta giving it a nice touch. Went in for lunch. Gorgeous day outside, patio is in the shade which makes being outside on a sunny day enjoyable. Menu is varied so it will appeal to a diverse crowd-something for everyone. Service was attentive and informative. The wine menu has several options by the glass, including 'taste'. More information regarding 'taste' portions and if that meant you could construct your own tasting flight would have been helpful. Food was good. I finally made it into Hearth & Vine in the Pearl District, and it's a total vibe. The space is historic and gorgeous, but the bar program is what really blew me away. You have to try their custom dirty martini. It is, hands down, one of the best in Portland--perfectly chilled, exactly the right amount of brine, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. It's a masterclass in a classic cocktail. We shared the trio of dips and the shrimp cocktail, both of which were incredibly fresh. The dips (the white bean hummus was a standout) came with warm, house-made flatbread that made it hard to stop snacking. Service was attentive without being overbearing, which is impressive for a spot this new. Definitely a must-visit if you're looking for a polished yet cozy night out! read more

The service was great but the food was abysmal. Not just "disappointing" or "could be fancier"--it was actually mediocre quality, totally bland, boring, and small portions. I've had better food in the hospital. I've had better food at the airport. On an international flight I've had better food *on the plane*. We got two different salads and they were the most low-effort thrown together at home when you are too tired to bother minimal salads. We had to ask for pepper just so the lettuce would taste like *something*. I got the shrimp scampi and the shrimp were rubbery and the sauce totally flavorless. I'm not just mad that we paid $20+ dollars for each dish--I would be mad if we paid half as much. I'd rather go to the OHSU cafeteria than return here. read more

Just had a fabulous meal at H&V. The space is beautifully appointed and the wait staff is very friendly. We had Jamon croquettes and carrots with faro as appetizers and both were not only unusual, but delicious. Loved the steak frites as well as the perfectly cooked fish and chips.
