Before we moved in, everything was detailed, cleaned and repainted. The loading dock and freight elevator was scheduled for us so we could move in easily. Fran, our maintenance guy, Louis, and the rest of the front desk staff are helpful and amazing. Packages are held for us which is always nice. The gym gets it done - two treadmills, two ellipticals, weights, a bike, a leg press - not really sure what more you need. Joanne and the rest of her staff do an amazing job of coordinating the administrative end of things - rent, key fobs, communication, and the like. Sure it's a bit pricey, but at the current rate, it's luckily doable.

She told the court I had a man come tryin to pay my rent which was a lie . We went to court n the judge didn't believe her so he allowed me to get a lawyer . The judge made another court date . The next court date she lied again and said I had several men that came to pay my rent If they came to pay my rent why didn't she let them pay it. But this was all lies . She would have parties every night I have video of her friends throwing up in the hallway . From day one she always had a problem with me . I'm saying if you can go somewhere else . They charge $1400 for rent n don't like to fix anything . I saw roaches n to say I never had a problem with the lady in the office I never once gave her a reason not to like me . It was always something new . She felt like I was worried about her n I wasn't . I didn't even know when she was home I really never said two words to her . I feel like they are racist n completely made up any lie to try to get me kick out of my apartment . Please don't rent here if you're pretty . When we were in their office to sign a lease, we realized quickly that we don't want to pay rent to this company. A good portion of what we were told by the nice man who showed us the property turned out to be wrong- poor internal communication. Signing the lease felt very tense and we recieved pissy pushback when asking questions about the lease. We then overheard the owner cursing out his employees and that was just the icing on the cake. We backed out. We will never consider a property managed by this company again.

I rented an apartment from him on Pine Street, and there were multiple issues even before I moved in. He never did any of the work that was written into our signed lease; he had a habit of completely shutting off the heat in the winter (during the middle of the night), while my neighbors and I complained about nearly freezing). Magically, the heat would turn back on around 6 AM. I ended up in court with him, for a fire caused by what the Philadelphia Fire Department attributed to "faulty wiring," where I lost several of my belongings. Mr. Laren was rude, unprofessional, and offensive. We ended up settling in my favor, and I was allowed to get out of the lease three months early. I'm beyond sad that students today are still dealing with the misfortunes I had to endure during college- a time when we should be supported and encouraged to explore our minds in school, rather than fight greedy, ill-intentioned older people who simply want our money in exchange for the lowest possible service and investment in our welfare as tenants.

Their lawyer later claimed--falsely--that the lease was null and void due to unrelated negotiations with a third party. Then they sent me an email asking if I was enjoying my tenancy, and a request to leave them a review. I am now preparing to pursue legal action for breach of contract and damages. Tenants should proceed with caution.
