Alex worked with me to set up two days of appointments across about 7 apartments. He was patient, super responsive, arranging things behind the scenes like a mastermind. On the first day Dwight showed me three apartments, and gave me great tips on what to consider when looking for a new neighborhood to call home, and was super informative and helpful. This is a great free service for anyone looking to rent, and definitely helps simplify and expedite the entire process! My partner and I have used Rent Scene twice. Last year, we were looking to move on a short timeline at a very busy time for both of us. After reaching out to dozens of places, spending a couple weeks touring, and getting the runaround from several property managers, we were left with just a couple weeks left to find a place. We happened across Rent Scene through a unit we were looking at and their agents prepared a full list of places meeting our parameters and set up several consecutive tours in one day. We were able to lock down a place that day. They can also set up tours of other places you might already be looking at but haven't been able to nail down a tour for -- or even get a response from. Touring with an agent means they can get into most places at any time by using the lock boxes, instead of having to wait for managers to be available. This year, we reached out to Rent Scene for our move again and had another good experience. We appreciated the honest and informed advice we got from both the booking and touring agents. As a potential renter, my experience with Rent Scene has been a disaster. I answered a post that was just bait as the apartment had been rented well before I responded. However I continued with the process as Jordan was very responsive emailing me to see different apts. After seeing some I learned that Jordan isn't a real person but a code name used by the whole team that takes shifts and makes sure to stay on top of all communications. This morning I received an email that "Jordan" took it upon themselves to reach out to my current landlord regarding the termination of my current lease, and then emailed me to remind me of the terms of my current lease. WHAT THE F*CK??? I considered filing an ethics complaint but I don't know who to report someone who doesn't exist. So here you go yelpers- "Jordan" isn't real but is SUPER CREEPY and might VIOLATE YOUR RIGHTS, too. read more

When I first moved to the area, I was a little overwhelmed - so much to figure out; what I could afford, what neighborhoods made sense, and then identifying my "must haves" - pet friendly, bottom floor, access to some sort of yard, within walking distance to my office, etc. Alex was very good - she was on top of things and constantly checking in with me, providing an active and useful list of available places with photos. As a landlord, my only regret is not engaging Rent Scene earlier. I had a listing that sat idle for several weeks with only a few prospective tenants showing any interest. Then I connected with Chris, and things changed. Chris asked all the right questions, took the time to understand what my specific needs were, and crafted a plan to find the right tenants to come tour my property (vetting them beforehand to make sure their time line, price range, etc. matched mine). I never felt rushed with Chris, and he spent the better part of that first afternoon going back and forth with me on the details to get the listing perfect. In short order, he had a list of tenants ready to tour the property. Rent Scene's help isn't free, nor should it be. It is, however, totally reasonable to pay for help instead of losing a month's worth of rent (like I had) and paying utilities and insurance (like I had) on an empty property, when an expert like Chris could have filled it a lot sooner. I inquired about a property and emailed several times with Rent scene. The last email before I stopped responding said, "Hi Emily, Please cc your husband on this thread." Um, it's 2018. No need to cc my husband, as I am the one doing the house-hunting. And if I did want to cc my husband, that's my business, not yours. I especially don't appreciate a man telling me to do so. Anyway, I stopped responding, and looked elsewhere for an apartment. A few months later, we were back in touch (I emailed a craigslist post about a property for a friend not knowing it was managed by Rent Scene). They emailed, called, and texted, so I figured, hey why not give them the benefit of the doubt and tell them why I don't want to do business with them. So I did: "Please don't contact me; I don't want to work with your company after you told me to "cc my husband" on an email thread in May." Instead of an apology, I get this, "We generally ask spouses to cc one another as we need both emails on file to schedule a tour." So I respond, "Perhaps you should consider how that sounds in an email and rephrase it, or change your policy." So Rent Scene says "My apologies for the misunderstanding." NOPE, no misunderstanding here, just misogyny! Listen to your customers, guys! EDIT: after RentScene's response: again, you are not listening to the concern and getting the point, but instead responding defensively and explaining something I already understand. Of course I see why having multiple tenant's email addresses could be useful. But in this case it was not necessary. And the way it was asked was poorly done, so accept that feedback and change the way you are communicating with your married female customers. read more

Dwight stood me up twice for appointments to view an apartment. The first time, I called him when I arrived at the apartment and he told me that I couldn't see the apartment because he couldn't find the keys. I wrote him off then and started pursuing other leads. However, a week for so later Alex emailed me apologizing and asked if I would still like to see the apartment. I made the bad decision of saying yes. Again Dwight stood me up. At the time of the appointment, he called to say he would be 30 minutes late. He didn't show up at all and stopped answering my calls. I was pretty annoyed. We were living in Vermont, so we could not get to Philadelphia quickly and did not know areas very well. Paul helped us search and find an excellent apartment. Jonny was great at showing the place and offered all resources that he had to make sure we knew all of the information. When there was a slight discrepancy with the lease, the team at Rent Scene worked with the property owner and representative to work it out and I feel advocated for us well. This is my first review on yelp, and I'm writing it because I have been astounded with the quality of customer service that the Rent Scene has provided. I moved to Philly recently and had to find an apartment from out of the country. The rent scene responded to my emails immediately (usually within a couple of hours, even on weekends), and provided a customized list of apartments that fit my needs. They were even willing to chat with me nights and show me apartments on Sunday evenings as those were the schedules that worked best for me. That type of customer service just doesn't exist anymore. During my apartment search I used a few different real estate agents. The issue with the Philly market is that everybody doesn't have access to the same listings, and so it can be hard to know what's out there. Rent Scene makes it easy because they have developed connections with the community at wide and have the most (and best) listings that I saw. Moreover, if you're renting from outside the country, they will film the apartment for you and take pictures so you know what you're renting. The rent scene is connected, on the ball, and care a great deal for what they do. It would be a mistake to use anybody else. read more

Using Rent Scene made moving so much easier! We were moving from NYC to Philadelphia and reached out about an apartment through an app. We had never actually heard of Rent Scene, but Jordan responded letting us know that he could help us see the apartment we reached out about as well as others if we were interested. I asked him to send us a list which he did and we were able to see new options that hadn't been listed on any of the apps which was great. We were also able to send Jordan options of listings we found elsewhere and he reached out to them directly for us to schedule viewings. When we were ready to tour, Jordan schedule our appointments with Rent Scene guides who met us at the apartments. Dwight was one of our guides who took us to a few places on both Saturday and Sunday and he was great! We didn't fall in love with anything that first weekend, so we worked with Jordan to set up more appointments for the following weekend. We found one that we loved and decided to move forward. We were able to apply and submit our application fees electronically through Rent Scene. This did cost us an additional fee for processing but was really helpful as we were no longer in Philadelphia and would not have been able to drop off the checks to the apartment management company ourselves otherwise. He continued to walk us through the lease signing process and worked with the management company to answer any questions we had. When it came time to pay all of the upfront costs (first and last months rent, pet fees, etc.) the management company required checks within 24 hours and, again, since we were not in Philadelphia this would have been near impossible for us. However, Rent Scene was able to cut and deliver the checks for us. There was an additional fee for this as well but it was minimal and well worth avoiding the hassle of trying to overnight checks. They put up fake or expired ads on Craigslist to trick you into giving you their contact info. They don't actually have those listings and they won't answer any questions before they get your contact info. Avoid this SCAM!! EDIT: In response to their comment on this review, the reason I did not give them contact info is because they do not actually have the listings that they put on Craigslist. They list a 3 bedroom at $2,500 (and leave it up on Craigslist for months) and then once they get your contact info give you different places that are "similar" but cost way more. It's not a good deal, that's why they rely on this bait and switch tactic. Don't get tricked! Don't work with them. read more

Within less than 24 hrs of contacting Rent Scene, Alex responded. After finding out what I was looking for, he sent me a list of apartment buildings and brownstones. Once I had narrowed down the list, he was able to visit the buildings and send photos. He even sent me a few video tours! I especially appreciated his ability to answer more detailed questions about the buildings. As a local, he had very valuable information to provide. If he didn't know the answer to a question, he would find out for me. I also appreciated his patience with me, as I am extremely indecisive. I went back and forth, back and forth, for over a month.
