It all takes one back to an older time, when furnishings were classic and gladly adorned. Its bed and breakfast style allows for a home away from home feel, but in the lapse of Old Style luxury. Apparently rooms each have their own unique look- no two the same! This would make for reason to come again... They offer free wi-fi in all guest rooms and a tasteful hot breakfast buffet for all guests. I wasn't very happy for the first night because it was in a less fancy hotel, but overtime i ended up liking it. our tv stopled working and we got free breakfast the next day (which I was fine with because I didn't need the television and breakfast was superb). the gym was amazing, it was just me and my friend for the whole hour and then we went to the pool, which stays open until 11pm. although it was an indoor pool, it had so many windows and we had a private pool because it was just us!! they also have a mini Starbucks in the lobby which was very useful (although closed in the afternoons which was also very inconvenient). it was in a very good location and I could walk to basically everywhere. my only two complaints we're that parking was not provided and was very confusing and inconvenient to access \\ they have three Marriott hotels in the same area so it is very confusing to know which one is the one you booked, apparently this is very common. very good price for the things provided.

We had put in our booking comments that we were on our honeymoon, hoping we might get a really nice room. We were so pleasantly surprised to walk up to the kitchen in our super cute private cottage and find a lovely bottle of wine along with handmade, outrageously delicious sea salt caramels and a hand written note. To the resort, perhaps a small gesture but to us, it really make our stay that much more special. We really enjoyed our night's stay in our private cottage, which was just set behind the main lodge. The cottage was quaint, clean, and well appointed. We loved our small balcony just outside the living room area, we enjoyed our coffees out there in the morning. The bed was also super comfy too, like a cloud. We loved it there so much we inquired about staying a second night however sadly the resort happened to be fully booked for a wedding party the days immediately following our stay. We ended up eating at the restaurant on their property, Rhubarb, three times in just 2 days - it was so good. We enjoyed an early dinner when we first arrived, then ordered pizza as a "later" night snack then ordered take out the next day for dinner from the next cottage resort we ended up staying at just down the road. We also took a couple of lovely, calm walks along the ocean front during our stay which was so nice. The property is stunning and it feels like you are in another part of the world completely. Looking forward to someday returning again!

The pizza wasn`t that good, it was just average and the sandwiches were good; however, I`m not a big fan of miracle whip and every sandwich had miracle whip on them. On our most recent trip to Halifax, we stayed at the Lord Nelson for 3 nights. We paid $199 a night. It's an older hotel with some retro charm. Like they have postal service to mail out letters. On each floor by the elevator there's a mail slot. You stick your letter in the mail slot and it travels down a chute into the main mailbox that I'm assuming the mailman empties periodically. I don't really know who would send snail mail these days from a hotel room, like maybe a postcard to your grandma, but I thought it was cool. The lobby also looks like it's from older times and they have doormen dressed in old fashioned doormen outfits greeting people at the door. The standard rooms are very small. We only had a Queen bed, a desk with chair, another chair, 2 side tables, a mini fridge and a TV. No microwave. We had a kettle and a Nespresso machine though. The bathroom is extra tiny. There's hardly any counter space. It's functional, but you definitely don't want to hang out there too much. We were out and about and just used the room for sleeping and showering so it suited us fine for this trip. There's no breakfast included. But they do have a restaurant attached called The Arms. We did not eat there but perused the menu and it looked rather frou-frou and pricey to me. The guest toiletries at this hotel are from Lather, a company in Pasadena California. I liked the shampoo and conditioner. The scent was bamboo and lemongrass. The location is very convenient. It's on South Park St very close to Spring Garden Rd. It's by the Public Gardens and not far from The Citadel. It's close to many restaurants and shops. I would stay there again. (147)
