My father died in June 2025. I chose Heartland Estates and Auctions because they had better reviews than many, prompt communication and the fact I was able to secure a quick estate sale on the calendar. We agreed the estate sale would take place July 24-26 because Kenny was going to be on vacation the previous week. Unfortunately the crew went ahead and did the sale the previous week without my knowledge or apparently the knowledge of the owner- who was out of the country. When I was finally able to communicate with the owner I pushed for the sale to be two weeks (Thursday-Saturday sales.) Kenny agreed to this and was apologetic. Thank you, Kenny! What I was not told was that the sales the second week were going to be a fire sale, with discounts starting at 75% off. The items were sold at a pittance of their value. Regarding the sale itself...the items were not well organized for the sale with things not priced in an easy to understand manner. The kitchen counters were left dirty and it was not a welcoming sale environment. I was unhappy with the amount that we made on the sale and I believe it is because the marketing was incorrect. Many more people would have come on day one if the sale had been held on the correct dates. Also, I would never had agreed to having all items during the second week of the sale go for over 50% off. I was told a guy was going to pick up the leftover items and everything that was left was "trash." A sweet neighbor took truckloads of the remaining things to Salvation Army and other local thrift stores. She also filled a medium sized dumpster. I had understood that anything that was not refuse was going to be removed by Kenny and the team. That was not the case. I do think the idea of the sale being Thursday-Saturday instead of Friday-Sunday hurts the amount the sales bring in as well. By the time most have the chance to shop, the sale is at 50% off, which is not a good situation for the estate sale sales total. read more

this guy is a thief and I would not ever use this guy first off he came in and said it was going to take a week to get everything set up and I think it took him like 5 or 6 hours I think he spent more time playing dress up with my mother in-laws night gowns they didn't have any kind of system to keep track of what they sold they left their personal trash in the house and they ripped my wife's family at the end of it and if I have it my way he is going to get sued he hasn't heard the end of this story read more

My mother died on September 16, 2022. It has been especially difficult for me because I'm autistic, and it takes me longer to process things than neuro-typicals. It's what makes me, me. I wouldn't change that for anything. What I would change is hiring Heartland Estates. Mr. Guy, the owner of Heartland Estates assured me everything would be taken care of. The sale would take place just before Christmas and that he, "has a guy that will come and clean everything out once the sale is over." I asked for clarification, informing him of my autism and processing time requirements. He said they would remove all items from the home and it would be cleared, but not cleaned. "You might find a piece of paper left over, but that would be it." I asked if the curtains would stay, he laughed at me and said, "yes." We also agreed that two specific areas would be untouched by anyone as they contained items I was unable to move before the sale. Mr. Guy seemed helpful at such a stressful time, but not for long. From the moment I signed that contract, Mr. Guy's demeanor changed. I had to constantly contact him for updates. After the sale my wife and I discovered all the items that were to remain in the home had been removed, including my mother's bedroom curtains. The house was a mess; we found junk everywhere. The clean-out person did return a few items, but the rest are gone. I took this to my lawyer, who confirmed Mr. Guy brought in the clean-out person, not me. They are his responsibility according to the law. My lawyer wants to sue, but it's just stuff; I don't care about the money. What I do care about is the fact that Mr. Guy took advantage of a grieving autistic person. He violated my trust, and still to this moment refuses to take any accountability for his actions. Please, DO NOT use Heartland Estates. Mr. Guy will take advantage of you, lie to you, will not follow through, and will refuse to take accountability for his actions. Heartland Estates?
