I always see lots of people on the shore fishing and a few in their kayaks as well. On our most recent trip, my father in law caught a small bass. Of course we let it back into the water, but my kids were so excited to see their grandpa hook one. 3. There's also a handful of tennis courts that were being perused. The walking trail is a great way to enjoy the beautiful spring weather and get some exercise! And with the scenery, it's a nice spot for a date or picnic with the family. Just be careful where you step since there are a lot of ducks roaming the area. 4. And the bathrooms are spotless!!!!! I had to throw that in there. As a park... well, it's not a park. As a soccer field, Osburn has some charming features. The green space abuts a creek that provides a nice distraction for park goers not interested in what's going on on the field. Be advised that the space backs up on to private property so don't venture too far off the trail. The field itself is decently maintained and has some nice wooden benches that add an unexpected detail. That said, this is a residential soccer field. If you don't live nearby and don't have a soccer ball in tow, you have no business coming here. The name should be changed to Osburn Field. See how easy that was? I have a future in government.

I was there on a Thursday summer evening and it wasn't crowded at all. I was surprised at the size of the structure, let's call it playground 2. It seems like it was built for 8-12 year olds but my 3 & 4 year old seemed to do fine on it. I will say my 1 year old wanted to play on it and it was way too dangerous - too many places to fall out. That's what would keep me from coming back. Playground 1 was clearly for little kids (ages 1-3) but the question is: will your younger child stay on the smaller one or keep wanting to go to the bigger structure? Swings were nice, benches were nice, park was clean and everything was new. There is a very small parking lot next to it, lots of parking all around at the golf course and by the baseball fields, and then lots of street parking. Overall, I'd say this park is best for kids 5+. It's workable for younger kids but wasn't suitable for my family with multiple young children.

The city of Nashville banned any future development in floodzones, and the city and the taxpayers purchased over 60 properties affected in this area alone. This park was named after Martha and Andy England, an elderly couple who drowned in their home during the flood. The project was especially successful thanks to the folks at make-a-smile.org who built the playgrounds. The park has a beautifully paved walkway, a small playground, and some picnic tables. It runs concurrent with Richland Creek.

William Whitfield Parks was founded in 1978, and has over 13 acres of land. It underwent a $200,000…read morerenovation in 2003. It has three baseball diamonds, a batting cage, a playground, and a football/multipurpose field. It also is nestled up against a creek. It also is the home to the trailhead for the Seven Mile Creek Greenway. We went about half a mile down the greenway, and were discouraged and turned around. Between the untamed brush, cell phone towers, and attractive views of the road, it wasn't terribly inspiring. That's not to discount the entire trail, as I'm sure there are great spots in the other six and a half miles. I would be remiss if I didn't mention William Drew Whitfield (1931-1976), who lived on Woodett Road. Although professionally an engineer for Honeywell, the last fifteen years of his life were dedicated to volunteering for youth sports, notably the Volunteer Dixie Youth Baseball League and the Boy Scouts. This park was the first park built in this area, and it's emphasis on baseball seems a fitting tribute to the memory of the park's namesake.
