Built in 1978, this park has 80 acres, public restrooms, a football/multipurpose field, a soccer…read morefield, a boat launch, and a paved walking/jogging path. It runs alongside Mill Creek, and is a part of the Mill Creek Greenway. It was originally leased from the State of Tennessee for Central State Hospital, but was turned into a park, and eventually subleased to the Junior Pro Football League and the Antioch Youth Athletic Associations, who in turn, invested money into the fields in the 1980s. It's named for the road the runs along side it, and is a gorgeous place to take a stroll, with several natural undeveloped wooded areas. It is within a stone's throw of a correctional facility, but that's pretty easy to ignore when you see the creek.

2.5 Continuing the…read moretrend of green spaces labeled as parks when they might not be, Ezell Road Park is less a park than it is a collection of soccer fields located next to a greenway and behind a prison. Yes, the fields are behind a prison so don't come here at night looking for a romantic stroll. Actually, I don't know that I'd recommend any green space at night time. I've seen horror movies. I know which rules to follow. Admittedly, I'm not much of a soccer player (haven't been since I was a kid) so I don't know that Ezell Road Park has much of a draw for me on its own. But, I would like to see it in the spring/summer, where/when the fields are better maintained and used more. I came here in early winter and things looked pretty desolate. Oddly enough, the nearby greenway held some appeal. The trail abuts the soccer fields and takes you through a bit of the woods. Again, don't do this at night but during the day (perhaps with the dog), this could be a fun walk. As the weather gets warmer and more people start spending time outside, it's worth a visit to this under-trafficked corner of Davidson County to check out the soccer fields. I don't know if this is a free play or league play venue but gauging from the large building on site, Nashvillians take their soccer pretty seriously here. If nothing else, Ezell Road Park offers a different glimpse into a metro you think you know well. Explore it.

2.5 This isn't so…read moremuch a park as it is a soccer field in the middle of an industrial complex. It's a bit unexpected, to be honest. It seems like an odd location to set up a soccer field. There's, literally, heavy machinery at the edge of the field. Had I not known there was a thatch of grass here, I would have assumed it was all industrial park and kept it moving. I wouldn't recommend someone travel here from outside of Nolensville to see it for yourself but if you live in the area and have a kid who plays soccer... have at it.* *I didn't see anyone playing soccer here as the day I came was rainy and the streets/field flooded pretty easily. As a former youth soccer player, I recall thinking that the field was pretty tight (read: small) but sometimes things have to be seen to be best realized. Parking wasn't too intuitive either but that could have been due to the inclement weather.

3.5 This is a hard…read morepark to review. Please don't allow the star rating to deter you from coming here, if you have reason to do so. I think my issue lies in the difference between my reasons for going to parks and the reason why Una Park exists... if such a thing makes sense. You don't come here by accident. By both location and function, there are only specific reasons to venture here. I have no idea what neighborhood this is. I want to say the park is outside of Nashville proper, belonging to the borg of greater Davidson County. I suppose that, in time, realtors will give it a snazzy name but for now, I'm lost if there is one. It's off Murfreesboro Pike past the airport heading towards Bell Road. Does that help? In any event, once you cross over Old M-boro Road and drive deeper into a residential area, you'll find it. This is a newer construction and obvious use of taxpayer funds. This was county land that locals, I assume, used to hike and/or ignore to their heart's content. Now, Una Park is a very impressive athletic destination. Large hills give way to sweeping sky views and multiple fields for all sorts of sporting interests. I noted 2-3 large baseball fields, a football field, a soccer field (that could be used for football), decent parking facilities (though not enough for all the different fields), concession stands, a pavilion, a small (new) playground, and a skate park. With the abundance of flood lights and team banners, Una Park is, obviously, ground zero for local sports teams and once spring hits, I'm sure it will be packed with families cheering on their young athletes. So, if you fall into this specific demo, Una Park is a 5-star park without a doubt. For the rest of us, however, Una Park isn't quite as welcoming. I like to come to parks to engage with green spaces, look at mature trees and flowers and get lost in my thoughts for a bit. Una Park doesn't offer much of any of this. This is a park of (local) utility rather than design. This isn't a 'park' in the sense of Radnor or Shelby. You don't come here to get away from city madness or take pictures. You come here to root on your athlete-scholar. That's fine and well but it's a bit too specific for my needs/interests at this time. If this is your bag, however, I'm sure you;ll love it. For what it is, it's very well done.

Una was originally a small village seated on the outskirts of Antioch, named as such back in 1882…read more As you drive through the neighborhood, you'll notice a lot of things in monikered "Una". The park itself was softly established in the 1960s, without much fanfare. Itself not far from the city of Murfreesboro, the park was home to sporting events between Nashville and Murfreesboro in the 1970's, 1980's, and 1990's. Metro Nashville pumped some money into the park in 2007, re-establishing the park at the time. It currently has a playground, baseball field, football field, and skate park over 24 acres. It has paved pathways between and around the various fields, and it took us about half an hour to walk about .8mile around the park.

We have made the trek out to Smyrna a few times to the Outdoor Adventure Center for kid/friends…read morebirthdays, the pool, and indoor rock climbing. While the heights you can climb are not terribly high, and pale in comparison to places like Climb Nashville, for a kid they're great. Multiple paths labeled with perceived skill level, friendly staff, and an auto-belay device that lets them just let go and float down. For the price, it's great although as Ehren A notes you do have to pay to watch your kids, but a family of 4 gets in and out for less than 1 person at a dedicated climbing establishment. The walls are also rated to 300 pounds so the next time I go I'm climbing as well (although it's $2 more if you want to participate) Some things to note about this place are when you get there you need to go to the left. You'll get to what look like the main doors and it's not the right place... go to the left, there's a door there that says Outdoor Adventure Center. The first time we went we ended up at the locked at the time entrance and it just did not look right. Nope, go left, look for some standing outdoor chimes you can play, it's over there. As a note, included 1 picture here, there's another wall of climbing behind where I was shooting from, and there's a round climbing structure with at least 4 more paths to climb. There's also a 16+ finger grip wall hanger that looks nightmarish and not particularly fun if you're to that level, but you do you. The pool is great for younger kids as I recall, but the outside is in direct sunlight with no shade anywhere. Pool has been shut down due to toddler problems when I was there. They do keep it clean. Not particularly deep if I remember correctly.

This is a great new park in Brentwood! The playground has something for kids of all ages. The only…read morearea I'd consider a little risky is the very tall slide, so younger kids may need a little extra supervision. The best feature is the huge, flat loop around the playground that's perfect for scooters, balance bikes, and bicycles. My kids could have stayed on it for hours. There's also a large pavilion right next to the playground with plenty of picnic tables. It's nice to be able to sit in the shade while watching the kids play or enjoy lunch there. The restrooms were clean, and parking couldn't be easier. There's a large parking lot right next to the playground, but it's set back far enough that I didn't have to worry about my kids being close to traffic. The only downside is the lack of shade around much of the playground. On a hot, sunny day, it can get VERY warm, so I'd recommend visiting earlier in the morning or later in the evening.
