I'm a Believer! Meghan Schmit is a very talented healer. I…read morewas seeing a conventional podiatrist about a bone spur in my heel that caused debilitating pain. My doctor wanted me to get an expensive MRI as a likely prelude to surgery. But I had heard about some great work that Meghan has done and thought that maybe I should investigate her approach before I start down the more conventional path of Western medicine. That was a very, very good decision on my part. I met with Meghan about 10 times over eight weeks for acupuncture on my heel and leg. Each session usually lasted about 45-55 minutes. In that time, Meghan got me back on my feet, pain-free and so much more. Not only did she effectively address the pain but she also prescribed a daily routine of specific stretches to help me get to the root of what caused the spur in the first place. And while we were at it, because I had mentioned feeling congested from allergies, she concocted an herbal tea recipe that completely cleared that up as well. Acupuncture and herbal medicine have been around for over 3,000 years. So I probably shouldn't have been surprised that it was so effective. What did NOT surprise me though was how thoughtful and careful and creative Meghan Schmit was in diagnosing my situation and expertly delivering the appropriate remedies. That was exactly what I was told to expect and she delivered the goods. Meghan takes her profession very seriously. And she is very, very good at it. I only wish there was a rating higher than five stars. --PH (63 y.o. male)

I understand that I signed a consent for cancellation policy, but I've never had a place uphold this when a sick child with a contagious disease is involved. This is bad customer service, especially for a clinic that says they serve women.

I am not new to acupuncture by any stretch, but in the intake interview Amy asked me some very personal questions that did not relate to anything about my treatment needs, but I tried to go with the flow. She recommended some books and we had a very good conversation, but then the needles started to go in. Amy puts the needles in VERY deep, which I have learned through the years is simply not necessary 90% of the time. At one point, she put a needle in my upper left shin (lateral aspect). It was immediately on fire but I tried to breathe through it. Next up, the needles went in my ears. She put one into my left ear and I started shouting, "Ow! Ow!" She almost seemed to enjoy this because she just twisted the needle in as I shouted. By the end of the session, the lower half of my left leg was completely numb, my ear was throbbing, and I was trying to focus on staying calm. I did reschedule another appt at first, but cancelled it a few days later because my lower left leg and ear were STILL bothering me and because I just didn't want to endure another session. She has a lot of knowledge but uses a very old, American-style of acupuncture that I realize is the cause of so many people being turned off by this ancient practice. I ended up getting two appointments at another clinic and had a much, much better experience.

We stopped the medication yet she suffered with a new form of pain, which we thought was Piriformis Syndrome. We decided to see Dr. Sam because we didn't want her to be in any medication again. On the first visit, she talked about "white blood pressure" and it all made sense to us that my mother did not need the statins in the first place. When at home, her blood pressure is always good. And only in doctor's clinics does she feel stressed thus register high blood pressure everytime she sees a doctor! Dr. Sam treated my mother in 4 visits, explaining the big nerve and the muscles that are impacted by the exercises that she taught my mom. She not only healed her, she empowered my mother. I also appreciate that she truly listens. We could have been shunned for "reading too much in the internet", but she never did that, in fact, she walks with us in the thought process of understanding my mom's pain.

I am sorry to see other reviews where people did not get the treatment they needed but for myself this was a great experience. Not quite finished yet but the professionalism and attention to detail are fantastic.

I first spoke with Tatiana at the front desk about my pain and she was extremely patient and thorough. She spent 20 minutes on the phone with me to make sure I got an appointment with the right person, to find a time that worked best for my schedule, and to make sure that my insurance covered everything. Not only was I in pain, but I was also frustrated because I didn't know what my injury was and what to do to get better. Dr. Ashley Lederman not only was able to diagnose me right away, but I felt so much better even after 1 visit with her. She set me up on a treatment plan for 6 weeks - 1/week. 5 sessions later the pain is gone! 5 days before my last visit, I started getting a throbbing pain in my arm that was worse than my leg pain. I figured I could wait until my next visit and have her look at it. The pain got so bad though that I couldn't wait and wanted to go in the next day. Tatiana made sure I was able to schedule a visit for the next day. Again, Dr. Lederman was able to diagnose me right away and determined it stemmed from the same back issue. While the arm pain is not completely gone, it feels significantly better than it did before I went in. That says a lot considering how badly I have been in pain for 4 days. She is a miracle worker! Tatiana and Dr. Lederman are so friendly and personable too. I am going to be moving away from the area, but I know that if I have any other issues in the future, I will make the trip to come to this location. It will be worth the trip. So, do yourself a favor. If you have any pains, come see Tatiana and Dr. Lederman. You will be in great hands!

I am hooked on this place! The building itself is like a shared apartment so very easy to overlook and is 2 minutes from Hecky's (mmmmm ribs). So it's not quite in the hub bub of downtown Evanston so parking isn't much of an issue. The massage therapist does everything to make it quite a homey and comfy, from the type of oil she uses, to her table that has a warming feature. Jennifer Schweizer is awesome (only because I can't think of a better word to explain how good she is at what she does)! I like to get my money's worth in a massage so I'm more of a deep tissue work type girl anyway, but as a professional she asks about pressure and what part ails you. She not only releases a lot of tension, but she even gave me recommendations on exercises to try to avoid buildup in those areas. I visited her every month since my first trimester. She has 3 visit deals that are so worth it and with all the aches and pains that come with growing a human inside you....it really a great way to treat yourself!

My first review --…read more After several months of suffering with an area of skin sensitivity near my shoulder blade, I made an appointment with Alex Dold. It was kind of a strange problem, because there was no rash or redness, and the area didn't itch. There was just a patch of skin that was extremely sensitive to touch. If I wore anything that was too tight in that area, like a sports bra, it was actually painful. The only thing that helped was putting a bandage on the area. After hearing the description of my symptoms, Alex decided to address the problem with both acupuncture and herbs. Amazingly, several days after the first treatment, the sensitivity was completely gone. I was thrilled. I continued to take the herbs twice a day. After a couple of weeks, the sensitive patch returned. I went back for a follow-up treatment with Alex, and then decided I should do a few more. It's now been a couple of months with no recurrence of the sensitive patch. I am so thankful that my skin feels normal again. My second review-- I had flown to California for a long weekend with friends. On the day before we were to fly home, I didn't feel well. I had a sore throat and just felt exhausted. On the flight home, I became overheated and dizzy. I even had to be transported to baggage claim in a wheelchair. I spent the next day in bed, and then developed a cough. For the next couple of days, I felt miserable and had trouble sleeping at night because I was coughing constantly. At my morning appointment, Alex first treated me with acupuncture, and then mixed up some herbs with instructions to take them 3 times per day. I was able them 3 times that day, and again the next day. By that second day, my cough was totally gone. I couldn't believe it happened that fast! I continued taking the herbs anyway. I went back the following week for another appointment, and told Alex that he was a miracle worker.
