My childhood dentist who retired last year informed me that any good dentist will show you your X-rays and identify the problem with you, if not don't trust them. I mentioned to her that I would like to think and consult with my childhood dentist and she gave me the most rough and poor cleaning experience ever. Parts were so painful from the scraping I had to stop her twice. Then upon exiting, she refused to complete the exam and discussion then stated perhaps I should go back to my retired dentist for further service. And that they would email my X-rays to me. It's sad that Dr Pokeras the founding dentist left such a reputable establishment in the hands of such an undesirable dentist. Obviously I will not be returning here.

Their free evaluation includes detailed X-rays and 3D high-res scans that show every detail and crack that might lead to future problems so you can take care of them before they get out of hand (and more expensive!) but they never push any work on you. always reasonable about what you can put off for later, get other quotes, etc. and if you need a crown they can mill them in-house so you don't have to come back another day! Pro tip: ask for a "bite block" to keep your mouth open so your jaw doesn't get sore, and some lip balm so your lips don't get chapped! I also go for only 1/4 shot of pain killer and I can't feel a thing and no numb mouth and cheek biting after! but most people might prefer 1/2 shot ;)

The actions of everyone involved with that visit exceeded the already high opinion and expectations I've had for this practice. I'd phoned earlier this week and Karissa was able to work some skilled scheduling magic to get me seen much sooner than I'd expected.) Then he clearly and transparently answered my questions about the pros and cons of each option, and we agreed on a plan for the future dental work. Then, my teeth were cleaned by dental hygienist Kat (or Cat, shame on. me for not having clarified the spelling of her name, especially since this was the second time she'd worked on my teeth). For 20 years or more, until her retirement, Leslie had been the hygienist at this office who did my cleanings. She was excellent, and I figured she'd be a "hard act to follow," so it was a very pleasant surprise when Kat did my cleaning in 2024 and I realized that her skill level at both dental hygiene and patient interaction is everything one could possibly wish for, which was again the case on July 17.
