The Heather Farms dog park is located in the beautiful Heather Farms park at the very end of the park. This dog park features both large dog and small dog (less than 30 pounds) parks. Parking is located off the road in a small gravel parking lot, right next to the park. The park has multiple safety gates just in case a puppy tries to escape. The park offers drinking water for both humans and dogs if needed. There are multiple dog clean up stations with bags always being full and trash bins emptied each day. The park is relatively clean, but can be a dust storm once dogs start to play. Overall, a fantastic experience for your dogs to play and socialize in Walnut Creek

I don't know how I feel about all the bark covering this entire dog park. It's not that big but gets the job done, tires my husky out and generally all the dog owners are very responsible and welcoming. If a dog is being aggressive, the owners will do the right thing and leave. This is probably the single most important aspect of choosing a good dog park for me personally, as I have a super friendly and energetic pup that just wants to play. So for that reason alone I like this dog park and it's conveniently located close to me near downtown Walnut Creek.

The new big dog side. No more grass maintenance, all wood chips. Seems soft enough. (04/24/14)

I've gone to this dog park for several years now, and I gotta say; For the east bay area, this is one of the best dog parks around. And here's a few good reasons why... Big dog side: ~ About 5 poop bag dispensers. Almost full every visit. ~ New softer wood chips. I guess the maintenance for grass just got too expensive every year. There should be less park closures now, from this point on. Meaning, they would close this place for months, just for the grass to grow. ~ A few water buckets. Kind of dirty, but what do you expect. ~ Lots of benches. ~ A few shaded spots, but not enough. ~ It's paved around the wood chips, so I can walk a few laps to get some exercise. Small dog side: ~ Grassy ~ Plenty of room for little bitches to run and play. ~ A large tree providing a lot of shade. ~ A couple of benches and cement picnic table. The good side: ~ The dog fountain and faucet in the neutral territory near the entrance. Dogs gotta stay hydrated! The bad side: ~ The cloud of dust getting kicked up from dirt in the parking lot on a hot and dry day. ~ Sometimes has a compost / manure smell, as it's next to the park maintenance area holding piles of bark and soil. Overall, my little Nana (who thinks she's a big dog) gives this place four paws up!

My dog is loving all the grass, plus there is an amazing play structure for kids!

This park is incredibly beautiful with yards of well manicured lawns, a large fountain where you can race sail boats, and a huge play structure where kids can play for hours! Parking was ample and it is dog friendly as well. Of course dogs must be on leash and please do pick up after your dogs. This will definitely be my go to do park when in this area. My Charlie loved this place! :)

Gorgeous park to enjoy in the amazing California weather (Why am I living in muggy gross Texas?). We took the pups around the lake and through the well-kept garden area. Lots people and other dogs over in the designated dog park, but we kept to ourselves and stayed along the quieter paths. This park is very close to where my friends live, so I am sure we'll come back when I am visiting them in California.

Do you know what makes a great dog park? LOTS OF DOGS! You'll always find at least a handful of dogs here, at almost anytime of the day. Closed every Tuesday from 7am-12pm for maintenance. Closed for about a month early Spring for maintenance.

Great park. All of the owners are very attentive.

Ask the Community - Heather Farm Dog Park

Where is the fenced dog park that everyone is talking about? I read that there are separate areas for small and large dogs. We couldn't find this anywhere!

It's so far down the long road into the park properly. You'll see a row of cars parked and beyond that is the park area

Are leashed dogs allowed throughout the park or only in the dog park area?

I think the usual rules for parks that have a kids play is your allowed to walk around with a leash but your dog is still not allowed in the sandy playground areas.

It's the perfect spot for a picnic, a party, a walk, for dogs, to take your kids... just about everything! Lots of big grassy fields and tall trees that provide a ton of shady areas. There are tons of kids play areas with slides, swings, and other rides that I'm still trying to figure out?! Yeah... some of those rides look a little strange, but I digress... They have picnic tables galore! You can reserve one of the picnic areas for special events and parties. The last time I was here, someone was throwing a party for their little girl here. It's truly the best spot to do it at! You have a grill and so many tables to host people. This park is connected to a small swim center that has a pool and the most adorable little water slides! It's a hop and a skip away from the Lindsay Wildlife museum. There's a basketball, tennis, and volleyball court on site and restrooms are easily accessible. What I love about this park is that one of my favorite walking and hiking trails runs right through it: the Briones to Mount Diablo Trail! You can park at Larkey Park and take this trail all the way to Acalanes Ridge and even to the backside of Briones Regional Park! It's apart of Walnut Creek open space. There are a few other local walking trails that connect here as well. On nice sunny days, this park fills up with a ton of locals but it never feels overcrowded. Sometimes they have community activities that can be seen on their posted calendar. There's a small parking lot off of 1st and Buena Vista Street but there's also plenty of street parking on many of the side streets. It's a great local park with tons of activities.

I don't tend to come here much as the grass bothers my allergies, but it's a lovely walk in Fall and hooks right up to the nearby trail.
