This is a great park overall in an urban area, and the dog park is large for the big dogs and a good size for the small ones. I have a big GSD who needs to run so its great for tossing balls and him chasing them. It has benches but the big dog side doesn't have a lit if shade. The owners are very good about picking up after their dogs and the grass is kept mowed and every year its reseeded. The cons are like every dog park everywhere-- dogs that should not be in the park-- overly aggressive, not fixed, etc are occasionally brought in but in my experience thats rare.. and rude owners-- which are more prevalent, and small dog owners bringing their dogs to the big dog side..but since my dog isn't reactive I dont personally care. The little ones dont stray far from the fence or their owners, and those dogs in the little park are much more aggressive than the big dogs (and louder)..but still-- there's a big size difference so you do that at your own risk.. read more

The large dog part has a lot of dirt. The grass isn't very good at all. Not much shade and places to sit are scarce. On particular days they are closed for "maintenance" and most of the time they aren't working. I have seen better dog parks. read more

Whenever We come here to the dog park there is no where to sit. All the benches are in the corner of the dog park filled up with people. It would be nice if they left some benches for other people to sit. This hasn't just happen once but multiple times. read more

I have a border collie and we usually go to the large dog park every now and then. I see a lot of regulars go to the large dog park, so it's nice to see my dog see her friends again! The only problem is that a lot of small dog owners disobey the park rules and they hop over to the large dog park side. It annoys me since my dog sees small dogs as prey, especially chihuahuas. Recently, a man and his small black chihuahua came over to the large dog side. His chihuahua was highly aggressive, barking at every large dog that came his way. What was worse was that the owner had his earphones on, being neglectful to his dogs actions. My dog got into a fight with this chihuahua because 1.) my dog is not ok with aggressive little small dogs 2.) she does not like getting humped by males (which that chihuahua did). We had to leave right after that. There's no one to enforce the park rules which sucks. Overall, nice park, but people are dumb AF and don't know the dangers of having a small dog in the large dog park side. Be careful! read more

It's a nice large park (large dog side). Planting some trees or building another arbor would really help out for shade. My major bone of contention with The Paw Patch is that many small dog owners disobey the posted park ordinance that states that dogs weighing under 30 lbs belong on the small dog side. Dogs weighing over 30 lbs belong on the big dog side. Safety is the reason for the size ordinance! I have a larger dog who sees some small dogs as "prey." Altercations can easily be avoided by obeying posted signs and ordinances. read more

It is a nice open space. I take my puppy there twice a week for hour long play dates with all her puppy friends. I have been going for about a year. However, there are a few problems you should know in advance: 1.) Some owners are bringing dogs that are not well suited to the park. These dogs might not be trained, or might not be fixed and are in a state that provokes other dogs "romantically". You need to be on the watch for problem animals - I usually just leave if one shows up. If you experiment, you can find a time with a regular group that is well behaved. 2.) The area is not always cleaned up by the people bringing their dogs to the park. When I come early in the morning, I often find broken toys, trash (including broken glass bottles) and lots of poop laying about. The worst of it is usually on Saturday mornings after the Friday evening crowd left a mess. (Perhaps the wine mentioned in Jonar A's review is partially to blame...) 3.) The parking lot is about 200 yards away along a dirt and gravel path. If you have mobility challenges, it can be a problem. 4.) The parking lot is frequented by vandals and thieves. Keep your valuables at home (or hidden). 5.) It is often closed during and after rainy days. I've seen it closed the day after a light misty rain, and also seen it open the day after a heavy rain. There is a hotline to call to see if it is closed, but I've seen it open on days when the hotline said it was closed. 6.) Just like the dogs, the people are hit and miss. Some fellow owners are wonderful to chat with while the dogs play. However, there are others that are not so great. Some are a little annoying, some are down right offensive, and I've even encountered a few that I considered to be openly hostile and threatening. 7.) At certain times of the year the park is used for athletic events. This may mean the parking lots are full, or that there are large crowds or events surrounding the dog park (such as high school cross country training and competitions). On the positive side, there is a lot of trail area surrounding the park to take your dog on walks before or after play time. read more

COME HERE FRIDAY EVENINGS! Every Friday around 630, people bring food, snack, drinks, and wine. This is a great time to bring your dog to the Paw Patch, because you can guarantee a handful of dogs to be in both the small and large dog areas. The only thing I wish they would do is setup the food/drinks outside the dog area. The dogs seem to be more attentive to any food droppings rather than socializing with other dogs. read more

I definitely am a fan of this dog park. I like that is has grass (which most dog parks I have been to recently do not and instead use bark). I like that they have separate small and large dog areas. I have never had an issue with an owner and their dog but it is always wise to just be aware and on your toes if anything were to happen. I wish there was more shade on those hot days and sometimes more seating is needed. The small dog area seems to have a couple of benches but the dog park area only has one. There is always plenty of parking but you should note that it is a bit of a walk to the dog park. I don't mind it except my dogs are ready to go play with their friends by the time we pull in to the parking lot. This dog park is open everyday except Wednesdays for maintenance. They also are closed during certain times of the year for additional maintenance and can take up to 2-3 months or longer depending on the weather. Before going, I would always recommend calling the paw patch line and an automated voicemail will let you know if the paw patch is open or not. Perfect when it's not too hot outside. Clean and well kept. Nice and large for dogs to run around. I do agree that more shade would be nice for how hot it gets during the summer. Besides that it's a nice park. Clean public restrooms not far from parking, which is nice to have. I do wish they had a website to inform dog owners of days closed. Sometimes they lock the gates on a nice day because there was rainy weather a day or two before. read more

It could earn 5 stars if they put in trees. This is a great sized dog park. It's "further" from the parking lot, but what does it matter? You're obviously out to get exercise so don't cry about taking a few extra steps. You'll pass the bocce courts on the way, keep walking and behind the trees you'll see the park. The park DESPERATELY needs trees/shade. They put in a gazebo type thing, but it's nowhere near enough. The park can get full, are all of the owners and dogs supposed to huddle under it? It's HOT. H.O.T. in the summer, put in trees. And lights. This park would be a hit at night if there were lights. Concord stays warm at night, lights would help. End rant/complaint/whine read more

Love this place but I wish there was a way to know WHEN exactly it is due to re-open. It's tough to load the BIG dogs and kids in the car, make the trip just to find out it's still closed for renovation and re-seeding. read more

This is one of the dog parks I visit once a week! I gave it three stars because it a park for active dog owners, there is a walk from the parking lot to the actual park. Also, in the park there is only two spots for humans to get shade. There is plastic buckets in the park with water in them since the water fountain is between both small and large dog park. It's a little annoying to have the buckets in the park because some dogs like to pee on/in them or "dig" the water causing it to be dirty. the two worst things are: the paw patch is closed Wednesdays for maintenance and the parking lot is far from the park. Otherwise the park is very hit and miss with those at the park. There are a couple dogs I've experienced who need some training but really it is owners that need the training. Some owners do not attend to their dogs and let them run a muck. Don't get me wrong though it's not all bad, there are plenty of dogs and owners that make it a great place, just a few bad apples. read more

Love this park. It's a good size and seems to be maintained well. The reason I took one star away was because some of the people there seem to be smug and act like they own the park. I think they might be regulars. I haven't noticed people really being aggressive dogs here, which is good. At a dog park I used to go to all the time back in Fresno, people would bring bad dogs that would rattle up all the other dogs and they would act like it was someone else's fault. Overall, I love that this park is close by our new home and kept up real well. read more

This is a great place for dogs. However, with that being said, a group of dog owners makes it a bad place. Some regulars have taken it upon themselves to dominate the park, bark at other owners, and basically act like a bunch of immature bullies that attempt to intimidate those that don't come on a regular basis. Most of them do not have their dogs under voice control but because they gang up on people, most dog owners give them their space. Pathetic. Definitely not a place I frequent alone. read more

KENNEL COUGH. Be careful bringing your dogs here. People are oblivious to whether their dogs are sick or not. 1st time taking my dogs there and they both contracted kennel cough. Not a good thing and most of the people there don't pay attention to their dogs and make excuses for the dogs behavior. Not the dogs fault but the people that train and let the dog get away with whatever People there and in most dog park are irresponsible pet owners and would rather socialize themselves and not pay attention to their dogs. Don't get me wrong. There are some very responsible pet owners. But they are the ones leaving the park when the dogs get too riled up. The owners whose dogs start issues are the one still in the park saying it's ok they are just playing. Excuses. I would only give 1/2 star. But it doesn't let me.
