Great place to bring your dogs, except its always so dusty/muddy here, and sometimes hard to find parking. This is my preferred place to bring my dog in terms of mix of other dogs and exercise gotten. Just wish it didn't lead to my car getting dirty after coming here. read more

This fenced large dog park within Paso Nogal Park makes a great outing in conjunction with a meal at Lazy Dog, about 10 minute drive away. Multiple water fountains and benches inside the fences but you have to step outside for trash cans. Today there was some poop left around the park, unfortunately. You can add on a stroll around the adjacent trails in the park itself with your dog on leash. While there is a water fountain in the middle, the trail is dusty and not too shaded. You can loop the ridge in about 15 minutes or add on for more of a walk. Easy parking in the lot. read more

This is an awesome dog park for both large and small dogs. The small dog park is just large enough for Archie (23 LBs) to run around. There is a huge area for larger dogs to run around and plenty of benches spread all over. I like that there is a hiking trail as well in the same area. The water stations are in good working condition, we bring our own bowl though. Poop bags are available as well. The only negatives are: some owners are too busy socializing to see if their dog does his business somewhere and therefore poop left behind. The small dog area is dusty where the grass is sparse and we always end up doing a good wipe down after every visit. The ground in the small dog area is also very uneven, watch those ankles. Lastly, beware of foxtails if going for the short hike. read more

Or try to get their car information. Their dog bit my dog and they ran away from me and gave me NO contact information. This is a dog park tucked back in the hills. Nice benches to sit on while the pups played. Very busy, the large dog area had many pooches. We shared the small dog enclosure with just a couple of puppers. The reason one star is deducted is the rough ground, it is gopher hole city. Watch your step! All of the other owners were super friendly. My girls enjoyed their playtime. read more

I found a great new dog park to add to my 'doggie fun day' rotation! Yes my little Fiona-bear is only about 22lbs, but I can tell she enjoyed it. She stayed right next to me the whole time, sniffed a few spots, trotted away, did her thing, ran away from some big dogs, and came back to my side; yup that means she enjoyed it! This place is fantastic! I can't say much about the small dog side. Although it looks like there's plenty of room for them, with a lot of healthy green grass. As for the large dog area, it's HUGE! There's a water station with hoses, buckets, and plenty of benches. What more could a dog ask for!?!?!? What more can you ask? Well I've got the answer. I think the highlight of this place is the ample amount of trees. This place provides plenty of shade versus the popular ones like Heather Farms (Walnut Creek) or Memorial Park (San Ramon). And of the three, this one is the largest. We'll be back! read more

Note to reader: This is NOT a manicured city park complete with playground and barbecue pits. Not that there's anything wrong with all that; that kind of city park has its place. But this is a wonderland saved from development, perfect for hikers, bikers, dog-runners. Lots of 100 year old oaks, toyon, pines, manzanitas, There are several trailheads hidden away off Morello, you need to know where they are to get there. The parking lot on Paso Nogal is used mostly by people using the dog park. As a result, you'll feel like you have the whole park to yourself. And there's a big trail intersection halfway up that gives you a commanding view of Mt. Diablo. I've gone there alone, with my wife, with her Australian Shepherd, with my toddler. All have enjoyed Paso Nogal, although some trails are overly steep for my hunny. It's not a big park, so you'll probably see everything in the park within an hour. But I keep finding myself drawn to this park hidden away behind the houses, over and over again. read more

Too Much good stuff to put into words. They have a great small and large dog park at the entrance. Once you travel up the hill you will understand the beauty. If you happen to sit on the bench at the top of the hill overlooking the valley at Mount Diablo you will notice that there's a placard on that bench and that bench is dedicated to Betty Pelosi. I knew her as a friend and she was such a beautiful spirit. I used to hike that trail when I was pregnant and I found myself at the top of the trail one day and I sat down on this new bench. Happened to notice the placard and I was taken aback. There was the name of this woman that I had connected with as a young girl maybe 20 years of age and she was early into her 70s. It's funny how things reconnect in your life and cross paths. It is a beautiful place and it is to be enjoyed so go do it! read more

I've only been twice with both small and big dog but the vibe is fairly decent. The large dog side is extremely large and worth the fun for a very energized dog. I have to say though I can't stand that some owners act as if this dog park is some club you have to work your way into, it's NOT, almost as if you come once they just HAVE to get to know as if they own it that vibe I don't care for besides that my dog loves the space to run and play fetch. read more

Paso Nogal Dog Park has undergone many upgrades since I posted my first review. The split rail fencing has largely been replaced by six foot fencing. The small dog park has been expanded. Benches have been added to both large and small dog sides. There is an area to wash off a dog if necessary on both sides of the park. A porta potty has been added next to the dog park. One volunteer at this park, in particular is constantly working to make the park better, and they have succeeded admirably. read more

My dog haaaaates dog parks. Hates, hates, hates dog parks. She hates going outside actually. Unless, its from the front door to the car. Then from the car to nowhere other than home because she only likes being home or in the car. That's it. When my Wiener Dog walking group had a walk scheduled pretty much in my back yard I had to go. This was going to be my first foray into taking wiener dog and baby out at the same time. Que the scary "Dun, Dun Dunnnnn.." music here. Yes, it was daunting and laborious. On one end I have a baby who, once stroller is out of motion he want out and a wiener dog that would sell her left leg to get back in to the car. Thankfully there were plenty of other wiener dog owners here to help me with the multiple gate entry. There are two sections of dog park. One for big dogs one for little dogs. The little dog area was chalk full of wiener dogs. All of the other wiener dogs frolicked and played like lively little dogs should. Mine just wondered around the fencing closest to where our car was parked and from I could tell was trying to use "The Force" to get her self from here to there. She is so embarrassing sometimes. If your dog feels so inclined to actually be a normal dog and go for a walk around the trail, you can. Some of our group went but the thought of that actually being nice was more than my brain and wiener dog could handle. My son knows some sign language and the one he knows best is dog. Which consists of tapping your thigh with your hand as if saying to your dog "Come On." When we walked into the dog area he was slapping his leg like crazy. We, the humans, loved it. I got to take tons of pictures and meet so many wonderful little doggies. Since my agoraphobic dog doesn't like being in public I wont be coming often. If the occasion arises I would drag her back here again. read more

This is a great dog park, one of the few around here with a bunch of grass. The large dog area is huge (2.5 acres) and the small dog area is for less than 25lbs dogs. Tons of benches and the website will tell you whether it's open or not after the rain. Their website says up to 3 days depending on how long it takes to dry out. As with any dog park where lots of dogs run off leash there is always risk. Watch your dogs and if you see some that are too aggressive for your liking move your dog away from them. Don't wait for an altercation. My dog is a 30lbs beagle and we have not had any issues except for a few nips on her floppy ears, but not much you can do about that. They're dogs after all. read more

Went here once, but probably wouldn't go back to again. The park has a lot of amenities: a nice parking lot, shady areas (mostly in the large dog area), poop bags. The small dog area is pretty small. There is a group of small dog owners who go there every evening. I enjoyed talking to them and they are true dog lovers. HOWEVER, they don't discipline their dogs. They believe that a dog park is a place for dogs to have fun by running wild. If you share this philosophy, you would fit in. My dog, unfortunately, tends to be dominant and pushy in settings where "the humans are not in control." She challenged another small dog, who didn't back down, and she chased him. I was getting ready to pull her away if she caught him. My dog is well behaved at home, but this environment brought out the worst in her. read more

I come here for exercise with my Golden Retriever Sophie but this is actually where I find my peace. It's beautiful and easy to navigate. Just the right sized park to get your steps in while not over exerting yourself. This is seriously my happy place and Sophie immediately perks up the second she realizes where we're headed... her favorite place to explore! Others strolling by with their dogs seem just as happy and friendly... a nice "hello" "your dog is so energetic", a wave & a smile is not uncommon here. Whether you're looking for a place to hike or to call a "hike" when it's really just a leisurely walk... this is the place. Need a romantic place to take your significant other for a picnic atop a hill overlooking P. Hill & parts of Martinez? This is the place. Paso Nogal is my therapy. So thankful to have this beautiful outdoor space in our community. read more

We do like this dog park, as it's the closest one to our house, and parking is never an issue. The big dog park is very big, and our Beagle especially likes to roam up into the hillside within the park where the knoll is shaded by lots of large trees. While there are lots of regulars that visit this park, I do have to say there are rarely "lots" of dogs at any given time, which could be a good or bad thing, depending on your personal preference. This park is also nice since there's a vast hiking trail up past the park with sweeping views of Contra Costa and Mt. Diablo. ...But harkening back to other Yelpers, it's pretty ridiculous this place is closed Sundays. It makes no sense. read more

Who the hell reviews a dog park? Well, I guess I do now, and for good reason, all dog parks are not equal. For those of you looking for a great place to let rover run free this is the land of milk and honey. They have two ares for your furry friends. One for small to medium sized pups and one for plus sized beasts. But frankly we always take our little corgi to the large dog side. There's never been a problem with other dogs being mean and there's so much more room to run and play. The area is well kept and all the owners take their duty for their dogs dooty seriously. I almost never find poo lying around but it does happen occasionally. I also like that the people who come here are personable but not intrusive. I didn't come to make friends. I don't need to hear your life story. It really doesn't get better than Paso Nogal for dogs and puppy parents alike. read more

Took my dogs here on a Saturday morning and going it closed due to rain the night before. Although we were disapponted abou that, we noticed many, many trails to go hiking with them which is just as fun. We will be back again!! read more

Love this doggie Park! Ok for those who wonder-----The park is closed on Sundays. This was an agreement made with the neighbors who didn't want the Pleasant Hill parks and recreation to put this park here. Originally slated as a soccer park but too much grading was needed. So for the "peace and quiet" one day a week---Sunday---they close. Our 2 boxers love this park. decent area with grass and trees that border the park. couple of benches scattered about. Small fenced area for the under 25lb crowd. Most dogs who come here are socialized and friendly. Folks who bring their doggies here are pretty friendly too. Don't forget they don't open Wednesday until 3pm (due to maintenance) read more

We sure do love this park. While the hours can be finicky (closed Sundays!) the spacious grounds and green grass throughout is hard to top. I love to bring my yoga mat and practice yoga or lift free weights while my pup runs around (or digs for critters). Pleasantly surprised to see the park re-opened after the winter season with new fences (bonus being the outside fence is about 5 feet further from where it stood meaning more frolicking space for the dogs). read more

Our favorite dog park yet! I love how there is a hiking trail behind the park, we take our Miacho there to relax him before he goes to play with friends. This park is so spacious, and the fence is mostly wood/natural feeling. Meeks is so happy here. The owners are ALL so relaxed and easy going. I wish they were opened on Sundays (bummer), though. The only reason this dog park doesn't get 5 stars from me is because there is no bathroom facility and it's closed on Sundays. However, it is a great dog park. George loves it. We were regulars at the Heather Farms park but it closed for a couple of months and we ended up at Paso Nogal. It is hard to find, but once you do--it's awesome. The people are pretty chill and the dogs are great. Responsible owners abound in the small dog side. The big dog side has a few rogue owners who think it's funny to watch their dog taunt the small dogs along the fence. The grass is green and plentiful. Bring your own chair though. The benches on the small side are so odd and uncomfortable. You'll see what I mean and the next time you'll bring a chair if you're anything like me -- comfort is king. It is closed on Sundays and it closes for 3 days after a rain so make sure to call and confirm it's open after a rain. read more

I really like Pasa Nogal. Love the shade, grass and tables and benches available to sit at. I also love the water station to wash down the dogs after a filthy day of play. There is a trail that runs along to DP if you enjoy taking a hike with the mutt too. P.S. for those who complain about bad dogs and dog fights. I have seen a couple fights that were immediately stopped at this park. In fact I have seen them at every dog park I've ever gone too. Do not single out this park for this issue. It is every owners responsibility to manage and maintain our own dogs behavior. Dogs will be dogs and in most cases it is the owner's energy of either being too protective or nervous which creates our dogs to be protective of their pack. i.e. "us". So if we maintain calm assertive energy, pay attention to your dogs behavior as well as the dogs around without being nervous about it you can enjoy the park with your dog and other dogs read more

Nice park. Great trails behind it. Park itself is usually pretty clean. Has a small and large dog area (though the small dog area is super small) but the grass looks good, the fencing has been fixed so its really good and the dog bathing/drinking area is a great touch. I wish it was open on Sun but I get why it is not. read more
