I bought a box of 6, red velvet, lemon, strawberry, milk chocolate x2 and biscoff. The biscuit was light and chewy, while the interior was luscious and packed an accurate flavor punch. The Ferrero macaron gelato was a wonder. Somehow this macaron incorporated into the gelato retained their consistency and texture. Overall, a great experience and one I will be recreating!

I've seen them appealingly displayed on those tiered, fancy dessert trays in books and magazines, but I've never encountered this type of dessert cookie in Houston, until now. A macaron is like an airy, crunchy, miniature Moon Pie in a variety of different flavors and colors. They originate from France are quite difficult to make. Apparently, it takes a special skill to turn out a perfect macaron. I recently decided I wanted to sample some authentic French macarons and discovered Maison Burdisso was THE macaron dealer in Houston. Jackie of Maison Burdisso operates a nondescript table at the Houston Farmer's Market. There is a blackboard listing all the available flavors. The macarons are $2 apiece. I picked 2 of each: tiramisu, red velvet, and pistachio. She also makes some provencal savories--I added a tomato flatbread ($5) to my order, and was almost tempted by the curried chicken salad ($7) if it hadn't been for sticker shock. Now for the piece de resistance! The macarons are delish! I did not get to sample the pistachio; they were scooped up by my other taste testers, who proclaimed them yummy. The red velvet was authentically red velvet, without the heaviness of a cake texture. Biting into a macaron, I was not prepared for the airiness and crumbliness of the outer shells. It did not collapse altogether, as the creamy center held everything together, but unlike a Moon Pie, a macaron is not a cake. I enjoyed a tiramisu macaron this morning. Again, the flavor is spot on. Jackie offers some interesting flavors I'll have to return for; peanut butter and jelly and dreamsicle come to mind, in addition to regular strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. Oh! She mentioned making some mojito macarons for the next market too. Maison Burdisso does not appear to have a storefront, but operates at the Houston Farmer's Market on Tuesdays and the Midtown Farmer's Market on Saturdays. Her macarons are also sold at Kuhl-Linscomb. Highly recommended for macaron lovers or macaron curiosity seekers!

I got the Passion Fruit and Mango popsicle and it tasted great! You can tell they made it with fresh fruit and fresh fruit juices. People working here are very friendly and helpful as well! I just feel bad they are located on a side street that does not get as much foot traffic. When I went in the afternoon with 2 friends, we were the only people there. This feels like a forgotten place, but I encourage more people to check them out because they make some great stuff :)

They come on a tray with a drip catcher. My kids got watermelon and mixed berry, but it was mostly me who ate the berry one. My kid who had the watermelon really liked it but it was a bit cold for her, so she ate some of it and I stuck it in a cup when we got home so it could melt and she could enjoy later. It has chunks of watermelon interspersed and she found 2 seeds - so Yay for real fruit! She finished it all. The berry one was nice and refreshing, not necessarily too sweet. And hello seeds! My other kid didn't really like it so I had pretty much all of it. He's more of an ice cream lover but he's also the one with multiple food allergies. We didn't partake in anything else but while there, some people came in but just for drinks like bottled water. They serve some ice cream but they don't make it themselves... they don't contain eggs though. Also, all of their popsicle flavors are made separately so there shouldn't be cross contamination. I asked because my youngest has multiple food allergies and he is allergic to a number of the flavors they had. In addition, they also serve snacks, juices, and other things you'd think about as an after school snack or treat. They also cater. Overall, the popsicles were good but not big enough for the $5.15 cost EACH. At the same time, they are a little hefty for my 3 year old but not the biggest one we had. If you're in the area, go ahead and try it out, but it can add up fast as almost everything is $5 and up. But it certainly is convenient for the area! It was still there when I left after sitting in my car for over 10 minutes waiting for my order, which didn't give the best impression. All that said...I'm addicted. I'll always find my way back at least once a month, if not weekly--assuming my paycheck can survive the gourmet cookie budget. NOTE: I love me some Crumbl Cookies, but let's be real--they'd have to give me four of the new thin chocolate chip cookies to come close to the value of a real classic chocolate chip cookie.
