We went for a tasting of these honeys as we were in the Ojai area. And Yelp reviews seems to love this place. So we went. We did the tastings for $8 per adult for 15 types of honeys. We were the only ones in the store so we had the whole place to ourselves. It was nice, but also a bit awkward. The store manager/owner was definitely knowledgeable when it comes to honey and a bit of friendliness would have gone a long way. I do appreciate the cute storefront and how neat everything was. We ended up with 3 little jars of honey and the chocolate honey caramels to take on the road. read more

Thank you, Barbara for a wonderful honey tasting experience! We walked into this this cute little shop, because we saw a sign outside that said honey tasting and my kids really wanted to do the honey tasting instead of getting ice cream next door! I was happily surprised and I agreed to it. We sat down in stools and waited for Barbara to set everything up for the tasting. It's $8 per person for the tasting and you get to taste 14 different types of honey! Who knew that you can get honey in so many different flavors. Barbara gave us a small spoon with a bit of honey honey and explained the process for each one. Everything single hone was delicious, but my favorite one was the "orange blossom" my kids loved the crystallized honey lemon. After the tasting we decided to buy a container of the orange blossom honey and two small containers of the honey crystallized lemon honey for each of my kids. I loved how Barbara included my kids in the whole tasting process and made sure they learned more than one thing about the whole honey making process! Great experience! What a delightful place! I never knew that honey tasting even existed! For $8.00 I got to try / taste a bunch of different kinds of honey and got a quick bio / history on each one. The man that did the tasting / presentation was really nice, organized and knowledgeable. After the tasting I browsed the store and purchased several different types of honey. The lady that at the front that took my payment was equally as nice. Atmosphere here is a small, chill and welcoming vibe. Prices are good. Parking is available on the street or at one of the nearby lots. I'll definitely come back to buy some more honey and to get some as gifts. It can get crowded on the weekends so be patient. This store is very clean, neat and tasteful (literally). They have a tasting bar of the honeys they offer and the man who ran the bar was super knowledgeable, to a science, of the honey options. We came in to find a Christmas gift for my mom and got the Fiddleneck honey since it's a super rare plant that only blooms every decade or so. Something unique. I always stop by to get honey from here while visiting Ojai. You can do honey tasting before purchasing the honey. Last time I was here I bought pomegranate honey which was so delicious. Unfortunately they didn't have it today but they had other flavors to chose from. Normally the service is great here but today the person working here didn't even acknowledge our entry to the store. Absolute must in Ojai! The first time I came in I was helped by the owner and she told me all about the honey and how her and her husband started it. Now it sounds like her daughter helps out a lot - who I met as well and was super nice. Great family business to support. I bought the orange blossom, lavender and avocado honey the first time as well as their complementary flavored teas. Loved them all but was particularly drawn to the avocado so I bought plenty more this visit. I think it really depends what flavors your drawn to but they are really generous with their samplings so it's easy to find what fits you best. So happy the ship as well. read more

He also greeted every person who walked through the door and was very helpful. Their honeys are exceptional! The staff member took us through a hypothetical tour of California while letting us sample 8 honey flavors, 4 of which were pre-selected and 4 of which we chose. The tasting was only $5! For just $5, I got to try lots of different flavors of honey. The owner was really nice and took her time to tell me about each one. During our recent Anniversary trip to the beautiful city of Ojai we came across this place as we strolled down Main Street and made a note that we would come back to check it out if time permitted. Luckily for us we did have some downtime between meals and wine tastings and made our way over to give it a try. The shop itself is quaint and small but has some amazing offerings of honey in various sizes, soaps, clothing, flavored teas and other various knickknacks throughout. It is kitschy in a good way with bright and vibrant colors and made the perfect setting. We were the only people there as we walked in but a sweet lady came in from the back and quickly greeted us and offered us assistance. We told her we were there for the honey tastings ($5 for 8 different honey samples) and quickly took a couple seats at the bar. *Note that a large portion of the proceeds from this fee goes to the Beekeepers Association so they can continue their research. * Each honey was described in depth and each was unique and delicious in their own way. We were told how each honey compimented the tea they sold as well which was informative and we did end up leaving with a small honey and some orange blossom tea leaves. All in all we each tried around 10-11 Honeys each as the lady let us go past the 8 and even waived one of the tastings as we purchased a couple small goods. Overall the Sage honey was my overall favorite but the Buckwheat Blackberry, Pomegranate, Clover and Orange Blossom were also very delicious. There was not a bad flavor in the bunch and I tired all of then except for Lavender (a flavor I can't seem to get into) and Avocado Blossom. I would definitely recommend checking out this unique must try experience if you are in the area. I would definitely do this again the next time we stay or pass through the city of Ojai. read more

Honey tasting!!! What do you know?! I didn't think this would be as much fun as it was. We were walking around Ojai and found this spot. They have an extensive (true use of the word) selection of honey. Barbara (the owner) was our "honey sommelier" and she was super knowledgeable and friendly. She interacted frequently with my children and gave them tidbits of information to remember. The varieties of honey were different than average and Barbara's friendliness definitely put a bow on our experience. My favorite honeys were the orange blossom and the Sage. Heavenly Honey was closed for a while during COVID which made me want to try it all the more when it finally did open. I don't know what it is about honey that makes me perk up and despite having enough honey at home (I have a huge jar of it from another place that sold local honey.) So, with reopening there were restrictions but fortunately it wasn't too busy so there wasn't too much of a wait. A group had just finished a tasting so after a short wait for clean up we got seated. Often with honey tastings I don't get a lot of the flavor notes, e.g. wildflower honey vs citrus. I'm guessing it was me being all masked up but I didn't really get that with the honey here. It doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy the honey, it just tasted like honey. I did enjoy the tasting though and it's definitely worth a stop if you're in Ojai and worth a repeat visit. read more

Came up for the day and the "honey tasting" sign in the window beckoned. Sampled a number of different honeys and was astonished at how different they were from each other and how delicious they all were. The woman who owns the store (I'm sorry I don't remember her name) was very friendly and her spiel about each honey was interesting and fun. She provided great ideas for how to use each one which helps justify buying several. Compared to my supermarket brand and the Heavenly won hands down and by a long shot. I followed her recommendations for wild flower for my beer bread and the orange blossom to drizzle on the accompanying butter board which was a hit at my office holiday pot luck. What a wonderful thought a honey store with honey tasting! Had no idea so many flavors of honey even exists. Once you enter this little shop, you immediately see what I'll refer to as the honey bar. A counter with 9 or 10 flavors of honey and stools. Behind the honey bar stands one of the most knowledgeable gentlemen I've ever come across when it comes to bees and their honey. We tasted the various flavors, I really liked the pomegranate and the buckwheat. The pomegranate has a sweet tartness to it that's is most unique while the buckwheat is a stronger tasting, full bodied honey. Since coming home, I've made a buckwheat porridge sourdough bread with the buckwheat honey and I will tell you, the honey contributed to the breads out of this world goodness! Street parking is available or there's a public lot just behind the store. Highly recommend on your next trip to Ojai. read more
