Love, love, love Frog Creek Farm. Can't believe that they have been in business for over a decade and I just heard about them recently. We had been to another lavender farm in the upper Ojai Valley some years ago and I was looking for that info to return. That one has closed, but thankfully, Frog Creek Farm is a wonderful "find" for us. The lavender full blossom season is short, so you need to check on them via social media to find out when they are open. Instagram has current info. It's a delight to pull off the Ojai/Santa Paula Road and mosey on to their property. They have so much to see, including their cutting garden of seasonal flowers, some places to sit at picnic tables in the shade and even swing (i.e., hammock), the gift shop, and the lavender rows - the main event. Larry provides a great introduction at the small stand adjacent to the flowering beds. He describes the location and how to identify the five kinds of lavender they offer for cutting. For 2025 pricing - $16 earns you a generous bunch of fragrant blooms. After orientation, you are off with a basket to collect the stems, and scissors to do your own cutting / harvesting. As promised, the plentiful bees scattered away as we leaned in to cut the stems close to the main host bushes. We wandered among the rows and filled up our gathering basket. Back at the stand, Larry tied our haul into a beautiful bunch. We proceeded to the gift shop to pay for our pickings, and I also found a few other items to purchase, including lavender-infused spray which has many purposes. Christel greeted us as we were wrapping up our visit. She filled us in as we asked questions about how long they'd been there, as well as about some of their products. She's as sweet and charming as the farm is. What a lovely place to visit. We'll be putting it on the to-do list next summer, for sure! read more

It's always such a wonderful experience at Frog Creek Farm. Arriving at the farm, you just feel like you are transported somewhere else. From the personal lavender lesson, to the hands on cutting, shopping the lavender shed to sipping amazing lavender lemonade under the trees, it's such a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Better than expected! This was one of the reasons why I wanted to be in Ojai for my birthday. Just to visit this fabulous smelling place, being able to pick your own bunch and just chill and enjoy the birds, the view of many flowers, pomegranate tree, fig trees...nature condensated in a small medium field. Very accessible from downtown Ojai yet secluded and intimate, there was nothing I did not like. The gift shop is so nicely decorateelr I told the owner I felt like I could live there. Had a great time here! The owners are so sweet and friendly! So many beautiful Lavender here! The owners, they are husband and wife, they been growing for 15 years and been open to the pubic for 5 years. It is beautiful and organic, they have picnic tables and hammock on the field. They encourage you to bring a food picnic baskets, it is great way to spend some enjoyable time with the family. Great place for picture! They also have parasols that are awesome for photos! WARNING: They do not have restrooms because they are an organic farm. You can pick and make your own lavender bundle (4 types). It is $7 for a bundle (it smells amazing!). I came to Frog Creek Lavender Farm this season and had a great experience. It's only $7 for a bundle of lavender and you can pick from a variety of different kinds of lavender. They're also pretty generous on what a "bundle" actually is. I saw the owner, Larry, asking if he can add to a customer's bundle after seeing her bundle was a bit small. He also gives you tips on which kind are best to keep their vibrant color, to keep their scent, etc. It's been a few months since my visit and my flowers still have their color and scent. The husband and wife that run the place are super nice and friendly and more than willing to answer any questions. The farm was smaller than I expected it to be but it didn't really matter. Stopping here is an absolute must to get the true experience of snipping your own lavender! It was the perfect addition to my friend's and my Lavender Festival weekend, and we left with two lovely bundles of multiple varieties of one of our favorite blooms! The little gift shop was very cute, and they had everything from lavender soaps to pre-bundled arrangements of lavender, for those who either didn't want to pick their own or wanted to save time and grab a bunch for decorating their home. Our only complaint was that there was no structure or organization at all to informing guests how to begin the lavender picking process. We stepped into the gift shop around 11am or so (note to self: get there as early as you can, as it will get extremely crowded), where people were bustling everywhere, and then walked outside to a shaded spot where there was a gentleman talking to a group of people. We then noticed the insanely long line of more people who stood with their lavender pickings, waiting for him to tie up their bundles. We walked back into the gift shop and asked how to begin. One of the women very kindly explained that her husband would give us the run-down on the different types of lavender and that he would tie up our bundle once we were done picking. We went back outside, got the gentleman's attention, and said we we were ready for our lavender lesson. He told us to browse around for about 5 minutes and then he would tell us more. We didn't see any reason why he couldn't quickly brief us on the four different types of lavender so that we could get on our merry way and begin picking, but we did as he suggested and wandered a few feet away in the blazing sun and then returned to where he was still chatting with others. We ended up just going out into the fields ourselves with baskets and scissors, instead of waiting for him to decide to speak with us. We picked our lavender and swapped bees away for a good while and then navigated through the even bigger crowd that had developed so that he could tie up our bundles. We paid $8 each once inside the gift shop, and we left feeling pretty satisfied, just slightly frustrated at the overall picking process. read more

My God...if there was one thing that could keep me in the state of California, this lavender farm would be it, Yelp. I love this place SO MUCH, I'm gonna do something that I rarely do on Yelp... Write an update. Located right off the Ojai-Santa Paula Road (which runs between the cities of Ojai and Santa Paula), Christel and her husband have made a small farm into a wonderful little slice of Ojai heaven. You can pick your own lavender, drink lavender lemonade ($3), rest/swing on the small hammocks in the shade (pillows provided), peruse the small gift shop and buy all types of lavender products, pick your own peaches, pick your own sunflowers, bring a picnic basket and have a picnic under the shade... She has everything! I'm proud of her, I'm envious, I'm inspired. A bit jealous, but A LOT happy. Mixed emotions! I'm complicated. But MOST of all, I'm her biggest fan. Great stop on my way to Ojai. While the lavender garden was a bit smaller than I expected, it was great to learn about the different kinds of lavender and picking my own. Once you pick, Larry (one of the owners) bundles it up nicely for you and you go into the house to pay and it's $7/bundle which is a complete steal! This was one of the best days ever! I am a lavender lover lol & I felt like we hit the jackpot here at Frog Creek. It is such a cute place! Crystal was so sweet! Her Husband told us how to cut the lavender, talked about the types of lavender they grow & then he bundled it up for us. $7 a bunch!!! Be generous as there are many people that stop by this farm he says! No problem! We got what we needed & he gave us lots of great tips on lavender. Cannot wait to come back! I was preparing for my wedding and I love lavender. I thought stems of lavender on my tables and down the aisle would be amazing. Came across this place but I couldn't make it to her opening weekend. I called and she said for a wedding she'd love to accommodate on the day before our ceremony to come by and get some bushels. She was so friendly and helpful, full of information and opened her store to me too! Grabbed some lavender body lotion that is amazing and sheet spray that is devine. Just come here for the experience... When life is putting you down and you don't know where to go to push your cares away, come here. The lavender, the bees, the peace, and fun... I am now so grateful to have come here. I found it when I was searching for fun places to go visit with my friends. Prices are alright, the experience is fun, and the customer service here is fantastic. Bees are good enough, they stick to their job and you should be aware of them but go around them, don't bother them. Lavender expert will tell you about the 3 types of lavender they have. My favorite was the French lavender. My friends and I were so surprised with how well it went. They were afraid of the bees but I did the cutting. And look! No stings. My lavender is so beautiful hanging on my walls. Tip: Hang your bundles upside down out of direct sunlight for longer than a week. I have made myself some lavender tea as well. It was delicious! No sugar added. May be a bit bitter for some. Lavender bundling is a must for those of you who live a stressful life, those who want to try something new, and those of you who want to be out in nature. 5/5 stars read more

This adorable lavender farm is operated by a husband and wife, Larry and Crystal, who live on the property. My sister and I visited on our way into Ojai, and were able to make it in before the 3pm closing time. There were other guests on the property and they didn't seem to be in a rush to close up, though. We were greeted by Crystal and she instructed us to grab a hand basket and walk back to the fields and meet up with her husband for him to explain how everything worked. He was helping another couple, so we lounged in some chairs under umbrellas and relaxed until he was free. It just happened to be Larry's birthday that day and he was having a great day. He explained to us the different kinds of lavender they had on the property and which kinds would be best for different uses. When it came time for us to harvest our lavender, he was nearby for the countless questions we had about the lavender. After we had picked what we wanted, he bound the lavender into bunches and trimmed the ends and instructed us how to let it dry out. He then gave of lots of good information on Macchu Picchu and the famous summer solstice parties they throw in Santa Barbara. There are hammocks and chairs and umbrellas and lots of space to just sit and relax here. It is easy to spend an hour or two if you have the time! Tip: Make sure you've gone to the bathroom before coming here! There are no public restrooms. Each bundle is $7. They do accept credit cards. read more

The farm is on the small size but it's super charming, I drove from LA and totally worth it. If you plan to come hurry up because they only open for one more weekend July 13 and 14( They only open on the weekend) lavender season is short. The prices were typical of any farmers market and the lavender products were pricey with the tiny store crowded on a Saturday. The people who worked there were friendly. My daughters and I love this place it reminds me of French country living. The lavender stand is adorable. The outside of the stand has a cute sitting area with a view of the lavender field. There's a spot next to field where you can relax on the hammock and they have chairs and a picnic table. They make their own lavender lemonade and it's a perfect drink for the hot weather during the summer season. Tip: go early if you're planning to harvest and cut your own fresh lavenders during the summer the weather could go up to 100 degree. Bring a hat but the owners can provide you with cute paper umbrellas to use. They have the best service they won't disappoint you. Christel and her husband are very helpful. Christel is a sweetheart. Came here on the first day that they opened and I can already see that there was maybe 60% left. Although we were told that most of the lavender has not bloomed yet and they are supposed to be opened until end of July. Each bushel was about $7. Their store has soap, air fresheners and lotions that makes it smell fantastic. They accept credit cards, but bring cash just in case their connection goes down. Found this off the path gem while exploring Ojai over the weekend. Christel and Larry couldn't be more welcoming and well versed in the world of lavender. I roamed the rows of lavender and picked / cut down a bouquet of lavender and sunflowers. What else can one wish for on a Sunday afternoon? We took a drive from Los Angeles up to Ojai especially to check out this farm. The property has hammocks and a picnic area. Everyone is extremely nice and helpful. The smell of the lavender field was intoxicating. We cut some lavender ourselves as well as sunflowers to create a striking bouquet. They have a little shop where they sell all things lavender as well as a vegetable stand. We bought some lovely veggies along with lavender soaps, oil and mist. read more

Christel and her family better get used to making us family, because we plan on visiting them every year. My boyfriend and I are so happy to make this our newest annual tradition, courtesy of an introduction via Valerie Deanna C. Seriously, everything cool that we do is because of her, and Frog Creek Lavender Farms is just another one of those super cool, unique, off the beaten path experiences that she's introduced us to, but boy is it a fantastic one! This cute, quaint, little farm is the perfect local getaway for those in So Cal who may not want to or have the means to go very far, but still need to escape the pressures of the rat race within the urban jungle that we know as Los Angeles. How can you not relax amongst fields of three or more different varieties of lavender, all of which are used in aromatherapy treatments to calm people down, all of which I've cooked with (hey, that's my form of relaxation)? How can you not relax where there's hammocks right by the picnic tables right by the little babbling creek (hence the name of the farm), all of which beckons you to take a nap, or sit down and enjoy a chilled bottle of lavender lemonade (yep Christel sells that too!) or take selfies to make your friends on social media jealous about how relaxed you are compared to all of them? No, really, put your phone away...some moments are meant to be enjoyed in the present and not in a photo. This is definitely one of them. If lavender is not your thing...well, you look awfully silly being at a LAVENDER farm then but fear not!!! Christel also has sunflowers growing on the property, and I have seen and bought other fruits and veggies from a third party seller who shares some of the growing area. Those peaches and zucchini were delicious! Sometimes Christel has live music playing at the farm, sometimes she has wine, not that you really need anything other than the calming sound of the breeze or again, that cool glass of lavender lemonade she has in her little shop on the property. Now, for some need-to-knows...these, for the record, don't bother me or anyone who's visited Frog Creek Farm with me personally, but I know how some of y'all are high maintenance like that so FYI: 1) There are a lot of bees that will be buzzing around and happily minding their own business among the lavender fields. These bees are the chillest, Zen-est bees in the world and are pretty much cheerfully drunk on lavender so you'd have to purposely go out of your way to be an asshole to them to get stung. Now, a field abuzz with honey-drunk bees is a great thing in general if you've been paying any attention to the news and know how dire the bee population has become, but maybe not so great if you're allergic to bee stings. Never fear! If bees are too much for you to handle, just buy a bunch of pre-harvested lavender in her shop, grab a bottle of lavender lemonade while you're at it, and then make your way over to a hammock outside, then proceed to get your own fine self drunk on the fragrance of your lavender bunch as you rock yourself to sleep. 2) The bunches, last I checked, were about $7, whether you pick them yourself or you pay for one that was picked for you. This price is of course subject to change, but it's a pretty good sized bunch (I'd say at least 2-3 inches in diameter). CASH ONLY so make sure you hit the ATM before you get there. 3) The lavender buds will eventually fall off, especially as they dry, and potentially make a mess in your car, so make sure you bring a bag to capture all the fallen buds. Christel provides bags in her shop but they aren't big enough to hold the entire bunch from end to end. Bring your own big bag, or a box, whatever you prefer, because you'll want to save all the loose lavender buds to make your own air freshener satchel later. Trust me, you'll want to do this. It will make your car smell like cupcake even on the most ungodly of hot days. 4) Speaking of hot days, the field itself is pretty much totally exposed so for my friends who burn easily, you may want to grab a parasol, which Christel provides by the shop (you don't have to pay for them to borrow them) or you might want to double up on the SPF or both. Or just hang out in the hammock and picnic area the whole time, because that is slightly shaded. ...so now that you know that even with all these reservations, the man and I plan to come back year after year, you should come see why! Visit Frog Creek next summer and bring home a bunch of natural aromatherapy! read more

We brought a picnic lunch at their shaded tables and then Larry gave us a tour of the farm and taught us how to clip the lavender. My husband and kids and I went here while camping in wheeler gorge. Nice location, not difficult to find. When we got there some guy was somewhat rude to us but he wasn't the farm owner. I guess some farmer who rents space? But the lavender guy was awesome, helped us pick some and gave us a little tour. Very small space but the guy was so accommodating that it wasn't a problem. Went to the lavender festival in Ojai. Quaint little town, but we quickly became overwhelmed by the festival crowd and amount of product the various vendors had for sale. Saw this farm on Yelp and thought we'd stop in on our way back to LA. It is a sweet little place, with a sweet little family. The daughter greeted us warmly, and explained the process and cost ($5 a bundle-can't beat it), the dad took the time to explain, and demo the different types of lavender by crushing flowers from each variety in his hands so we got a sense of each fragrance, and the mom in the little gift shop was just as sweet as could be. Even the bees working the field were friendly, and didn't seem to mind sharing the sweet smelling buds. Not a single bee sting. Had we more time, we'd have cut sunflowers and explored a little more, but we had to get back to LA. This family genuinely likes people. We'll totally be back! I wish however, they'd set up a little lavender lemonade stand. Lavender picking is thirsty work. I wonder if they grow lemons? read more
