You need to check your quality. The last time I bought some at the SM farmers market, they were soft and almost curushed. I also ordered a case for my work place and they were of similar quality. I agree it used to be good 3 years ago but it is not now, sorry this is a honest feedback. read more

Pros: - great strawberries: tasty, pretty, and lovely to eat. -jams are delicious and make nice treats or gifts. Cons: - horrifyingly expensive. - seasonal; berries are available only around spring / summer. -long queues at every farmer's market; it doesn't matter where the location is, there is always a wait unless you get to the market right at opening time. - As other reviewers have stated, I've also noticed that over time, the HB sellers at farmer's markets have become increasingly rude and extraordinarily difficult to deal with. I've never understood how buying strawberries could be so complicated but the sellers go out of their way to make it so. I've witnessed their unexplained hostility to customers, even if they are polite or haven't done anything to deserve it. The sellers make demands such as exact change, people have to stand in a certain area, or that customers can't pick their own carton. If you don't obey, they "punish" the customers which is petty and unprofessional. I don't know why the Gean family would tolerate this kind of behavior from individuals who are handling and marketing their hard-grown products. It's awful and goes against their "family values," which they are often proud to advertise. read more

We have been buying Harry's berries for years. We started eating them when we lived in LA and moved back to the NYC area a few years ago. The berries this year have been terrible. They are extremely expensive and we have bought a bunch of them over the summer to see if they would get better, but none of them were good. I am hoping that the berries you deliever to NYC next year will be the usual fantastic berries everyone loves! read more

This review is specifically pointed in the direction of the two ladies at the Hollywood Farmers Market on Sunday 06/26. Super disappointing experience...I am traveling overseas and wanted to bring jars of strawberry preserves to my grandparents, aunts and uncles. I popped into the farmers market as I was walking my dog which was a bit earlier than the market opens. Things were quite lively especially in the produce section of the market and the majority of the surrounding booths were already in action and quite busy. I walked up to Harry's Berries and thought it odd at first that the two ladies carried on their conversation and didn't even look up to greet me or say hello. I browsed a bit and took a jar to ask a question and was immediately met with a hostile "We're not open yet" which okay, I understand that and honestly would have been more palatable had they been kind from the beginning. I asked what time it was and the lady with dark hair standing up rolled her eyes and said she didn't know... (then how do you know you're not open yet?) The lady sitting down in the corner of the booth let me know it was a mere few minutes before they started selling (7:45am). I thought at first and because it was only a few minute away that I would wait and make my purchases when they decided it was time to open. However, after the complete lack of customer service and outright rude behavior, I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars ($20 each!) for gifted preserves from here. It was the huge fake, condescending smile when I walked away for me! It's unfortunate that some people are truly so miserable that they cannot even be nice when they're being paid to do so. read more

Harry's saved us during the pandemic! I got tons of flats at a time for friends and neighbors- they really helped keep some sunshine during awful lock down days! Berries were always delicious- but more than that, every single berry in every single flat was always perfect. They have the highest standards, amazing family values and they're worth the crazy prices because it's a small family operation and they charge honest prices to bring everyone the best product in the world. Nobody has better stuff than Harry's. Tomatoes are incredible too- so try everything and see for yourself! read more

No joke, I feel like I'm a spokesperson for these strawberries in my family. Yeah, these strawberries can be a little pricey. But they're organic, deep red, sweet and totally worth it. When I first brought them home, my mom thought I was crazy for spending so much on them. Little did she know, they'd be the best tasting strawberries she's had. All she does is compare the ones she buys elsewhere to harry's berries. They sell them at the farmers market on Wednesdays at the Pacific View Mall and on Saturdays at the Farmers Market in Ventura. They will let you sample the berries before you buy. Every year, they do a private benefit dinner for charity on their farm. All the proceeds go straight to the charity. A local family business giving back to their community is always a business to support. read more

I went College of the Canyons Farmers' Market from Pasadena to try Harry's Berries and found them not sweet. I think it is over rated. I paid $12 for a pound. It smells good, but the flavor and sweetness is not there. I think Salinas strawberries are much better. I think Driscoll's berries are way better and for the price. read more

I bought Gaviota strawberries at the Thousand Oaks farmers market on Thursday a few times already. Although they are expensive and the cashier person can be rude, I put up with it and was quite happy about the berries until 4 weeks ago. I bought two packs as a gift but they were all rotten. THE RUDEST PERSON AT THE FARMERS MARKET!! Just because they sell expensive strawberries and we customers buy them weekly, they think they should/could be rude. $25 for three small baskets....UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I was at the Pasadena farmers market today and I went from one side where there was no one there and found the basket and had exact cash but the lady started snapping at me that I need to get in line, there was two people on the other side and both being helped by other staff. I said I got what I need and here's the money. She said then you don't get a bag, but I grabbed one myself and she got pissed and said I can't do that and I should get in line. I've been buying the Gaviota versions of the strawberries for years at the Ojai Farmers' Market. I purchased a container today and they were terrible! These were not the usual Gaviota berries. They were much bigger and incredibly bland compared to the usual. Either the crop has been corrupted or they are substituting the newer genetic big bland berries. This review is for their strawberries, which are seriously the best in the world. I have never tasted a strawberry as sweet and delectable as these treasures. I understand now why there is a cult following for these strawberries. The moment I found out about Harry's Berries, I had to try them for myself. Wow! I never thought a strawberry could taste as wonderfully as the ones from Harry's Berries. Ever since then, I have been purchasing at least 1 container regularly. Every one has been incredibly delicious. After reading reviews that raved about their sorbet, I had to try it. Well...I agree with those reviewers opinion. Amazing! Refreshing! Perfect dessert, especially for the summer. My husband has taken hold of the pint I purchased at the farmer's market, so I got another one the following week. On Saturday, June 22nd, 2019 I arrived at your booth in Santa Monica at 7:45am, 15 minutes before opening. There was one couple and a man that had been there before me. The sellers were there but not in a position to see who was there first. When they came out at 8am, I waited for the first people to be served, and then asked for what I wanted to purchase. A woman refused to sell me the product telling me that I needed to go to the back of the line. I told her that I had been there before the line formed. She ignored my requests. I thought of leaving without buying the product. I decided to ask another sales person if I could help myself to put the strawberries into the container I had brought. He said of course. What surprised me that the man standing next to me was served without being questioned as to why he was not in the line. I would like to know if you have separate rules for non-business owners.
