Or, you can indulge in the full monty which is where you get tastings of all wine currently on the menu. They are both very good values when comparing wine tasting rooms. The air conditioning was on, and we were happy. My husband did the $19 four wine pour tasting and I did the $36 Full Monte pouring of their entire eight wine tasting. I enjoyed my first Grüner Veltliner white wine, 2024 Grunay (a hint of sweetness yet still crisp to the tongue and a light body). I also enjoyed their Tempranillo red wine, 2023 Taransay (well balanced medium body, slightly on the drier side but not too much, and had some nice tannins), this is the full glass I ordered after the tasting. I was not a fan of the 2021 Soay (Red Blend of 70% Granache, 15% Petit Verdot and 15% Petit Syrah) - I really wanted to like it as I typically like this blend, however there was a strange aftertaste that reminded me of water that was rinsed in dried rice. From 4PM - 6PM on Saturdays and Sundays, there is a local musician. Today was a singer-songwriter who played both acoustic and electric guitar and was accompanied by a lovely bass guitar player. They performed a few lighter versions of rock music and a handful of originals. Overall, great value and good music.

The place was jam packed, so service was very slow - we waited probably 15 minutes for our server to arrive. Which was strange because it's not like they were unexpectedly inundated with a crush of people, this place had been booked solid for weeks! The amount of activity was 100% predictable. Nothing about the menu was really explained, but we were prepared so we just helped the person out by giving our full order immediately using the internet for guidance on what to get. Again, once the food started coming out, it was genuinely fantastic. Not a bad item on the menu. But be prepared to know what you want and be ready when they have time for you. Great food. Truly awful service…read more I really wanted to understand the hype around Rory's Place, and honestly, the food was good. Several dishes were genuinely delicious. Unfortunately, the service was so bad that it completely overshadowed the meal. The pacing was bizarre from the beginning. After our crudo, we waited close to 50 minutes for our salad. At that point, we finally had to ask our server if it was coming. She told us there had been some kind of "glitch" in the kitchen and brought us a bowl of olives while we waited, but it honestly felt like our order had simply been forgotten. The bigger issue was that no one was checking on us. We went roughly 40 minutes without seeing our server after ordering. Drinks sat empty. The only person who consistently came by was the busser, who was lovely and frankly provided more attentive service than anyone else. The experience at the front wasn't much better. The welcome felt cold and indifferent, and even getting seated took a few awkward minutes with very little acknowledgment. Nothing about the hospitality felt warm or particularly interested in having us there. Then came the grand finale. While clearing our entrée plates, our server dropped a knife covered in pesto onto my skirt. My skirt is now stained, possibly permanently. She offered soda water, which, fine, but somehow brought out the spoons for our dessert before actually bringing the soda water for the pesto she had just spilled on me. At that point, the entire experience had crossed over into comedy. Even the bathroom was a mess, with paper towels overflowing from the trash and onto the floor. I understand restaurants have bad nights. Kitchens get backed up. Mistakes happen. But this wasn't one mistake. It was an entire evening of poor pacing, lack of attention, weak hospitality, and one problem after another. The frustrating part is that the food was actually good. With even halfway decent service, I would have left with a completely different impression. Instead, this was easily one of the worst restaurant service experiences I've had in years. Two stars, and they're basically both for the kitchen.

This is a family owned/operated wine and beer tasting room located in Carpinteria, with their vineyards located on nearby Rincon Mountain and in Paso Robles. Cool vibe entry area, with a large, garage-like back room and outdoor tasting areas. Parking available both on street and in a private lot in back. WINES: We were fortunate to have Jill, co-owner with her husband Edward, pour for us and the service was excellent. We tried 5 wines from the tasting menu, a '22 Storytime Rosè, '22 Susie Q (white Rhone blend), 2020 Dusty Vinyl (Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre red blend), '19 Tempranillo, and a '19 Monk (Bordeaux red blend). In addition, Jill also poured us a '22 Syrah. Again, all the wines were well-made and flavorful. We took advantage of the waived tasting fee and took several bottles home with us. You can also purchase wines by the glass or enjoy a bottle onsite. BEER: New since our last visit, Jill and Edward decided to brew beer, so we also decided to share a tasting. All ingredients are grown on their property and they're currently pouring a Lu Lu Lager, a Monk's Ration (Belgian Ale), and a Sal's Stout. The pours are generous and easily enough for two people to share a tasting. We're not huge beer fans, but these, especially the lager and the ale, were so refreshing and full of flavor. They're sold in 750ml bottles, and we took a couple of these home as well. I highly recommend a visit to Rincon Mountain Winery's tasting room. You won't be disappointed!

She's thoughtful and mindful about the product selections, and she has great taste. The quality of the product is also outstanding. Their oils and balsamic vinegars make the best salad dressings and dipping sauces. Plus, they have exceptional foodstuffs, like pastas, sauces, pesto, tapenade, chips, and more. This time, they also had a sample table with maple syrups from Runamok. They were terrific! Every time I'm here, I spend $100 on delicious things and leave happier than I arrived, so I'm calling that a victory.

I knew Ojai was famous for its olive oils, but Carolina especially embodies mastery and craftsmanship as reflected in her offerings of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. As I was the only patron in her shop at the time, I was privileged with her showing me various unique combinations of balsamic and olive oil. She certainly lives up to the Italian stereotype of having good taste. She suggested against me buying food for my mother for Mother's Day, but she understood when I insisted that my mom is a foodie (where I get it from). Carolina herself is classy and refined, yet still so open and welcoming, all of which also is reflected in her store. It is thus no surprise that her shop has been around for over a decade. I hope her shop is there when I am 100! If there was ever a place to stop in Ojai, I would recommend this place. A truly unique experience, unparalleled.
