I recently moved back to San Diego and have been looking for a nice nail salon to enjoy mother-daughter mani/pedis once a month. Based upon the reviews (where did all the good ones go?) we drove from Poway to Heavenly Nails in Encinitas. We were promptly greeted and escorted to the manicure chairs. Both my mom and I have intense cuticles and were pleased to see them all removed! My nails were cleanly lacquered and upon completion I moved over to the spa pedicure chair. While my feet were soaking, I noticed how clean the salon was; they have procedures for cleaning the foot tubs posted, individualized packages of files and buffers and sanitized equipment (scissors, clippers, etc) ready for each client. While talking to the managers they informed how they do not like to overbook so the client does not feel rushed with someone waiting behind them for the seat. One of the best aspects of the salon is that the technicians know how to remove ingrown toenails without pain!!! So worth my $25 for a pedicure here! Don't even think about coming here! Rude, impatient, not to mention unsanitary with poor techniques that gave me infected toes on 2 occasions. I don't understand how they could stay in business. Now, regarding the incident last weekend- Lee's behavior was shocking and disgraceful. I witnessed Lee yelling at my friend- a woman who epitomizes diplomacy and good character- even as she was trying to salvage the relationship she thought she'd had with them and talk him down. It's really quite amazing how they've twisted the story around. To say that she "wanted to come in as she pleases, is ridiculous since she had made an appointment and then called to say she was going to be 5 minutes late, and then they weren't even ready for her when she got there. Lee was just mad at himself for having erroneously double booked the appointment and giving the double-booked customer he had to turn away a gift card. For Teresa (or her hired Yelp gun, more likely) to say "we have to remain professional within ours", is a joke, since my friend and I have had to wait for appointments on numerous occasions. They have a double standard whereby they are allowed to be understaffed and double book appointments but if we show up 5 minutes late, even after calling, you are "exhausted with your efforts". As for "truly valuing [your] customers," flying off the handle and yelling at a loyal customer is evidence to the contrary. read more

This is the best pedicure I've ever gotten in Encinitas.I've lived here for 35 years, and in that time have tried to find a consistently good pedicure for a "reasonable" price. I've been disappointed in coupon offers at other salons because you "get what you pay for" and there are always add-ons for a good pumice or extra massage etc. I have been going to Lee for several years now, and I'm always very satisfied with his extra special attention to my feet. I gave my husband a 6 month gift certificate and since he has been getting monthly pedicures from Lee his feet are callous free. Lee and Theresa are devoted to what they do. They are open 7 days a week, so I was prompted to write this review when I saw the very insensitive complaint from the woman who was irate because they were 15 minutes late this morning. Her review said she had an appt. later in the day but came early in hopes to get in. It isn't as if they were late for "her" appt. only that they were stuck in traffic. When you work 7 days a week, perhaps this happens sometimes. I rarely write reviews, but this sounded so unfair I had to respond. read more

I've been getting my nails done at Heavenly Nails for many years. Lee & Teresa are professional, always on time, and service oriented. I have been to other salons depending on my work schedule, but always come back to Heavenly Nails. Lee & Teresa truly care that you are pleased, and they check their work. They are very particular, clean and calm. I am particular about my nails. I have had My nails damaged elsewhere with owners who constantly take walk-ins and make you wait, or who argue amongst themselves. My nails are now strong and always look good. Lee massages my feet with hot stones. Truly heavenly. The people on yelp who have spoken meanly about this quality salon - please, stay away. Nice attracts nice. read more

Great place!! Lee worked on my feet with such attention to detail, and gave me one of the best leg and foot massages I have ever had. Another gentlemen worked on my 8 1/2 year old daughter, and was great, too. The prices may be a few more dollars than some other places, but WELL worth the price for the treatment you receive and the knowledge that they take care of sanitizing their equipment properly! After my pedicure, they already started soaking my foot rub for the next person...not just a quick swish...but really letting it get sanitized, then scrubbing it down and preparing for the next person. I was shocked amazed when i walked in to the salon with a gift certificate and an appointment and the most obnoxious lady with long hair and glasses came running out of the back screaming at me that she couldnt take care of me and that i didnt have an appointment. Fortunatelyi give the man gave me a refund. If that wasnt bad enough the week before, she had given me a manicure and had left the old polish on. The only reason i had returned was because i had the gift certificate. I give them a minus 4 rating. Dont go there unless you want to be tortured and humilated. read more

I've been coming here for years and I tell all my friends to go as well. It's the best pedicure in town! I have been to many around and the GUY here does the best job 'feet' down! Plus there are large reclining, massager chairs, with heaters, and soak tubs. They soak, massage, scrub and rub your legs & feet before they start and it is amazing. If your feeling up to it ask for the European Pedicure. The salon is family run (husband & wife) and beautifully decorated with a lovely mural on the wall, and always very clean. I have been getting my mani-pedi's from Heavenly Nails (previously L'Elysee Nails Spa) for several years now. It was a treat for me as I would have business trips to this area and now I am spoiled because I live here now and I have Heavenly Nails for my regular Mani-Pedi's. I have received gift certificates for Mani-Pedi's elsewhere and when I use the gift certificates, I am disappointed. NO OTHER SALON THAT I'VE BEEN TO IN THIS AREA COMPARES TO THEIR HIGH STANDARD OF PROFESSIONALISM OR CLEANLINESS. I have been going here for pedicures and various nail services as long as the doors have been opened which is close to 10 years I'd guess. The owners are two of the hardest working people I have ever met and go out of their way for every single customer, and the regular long term customers like me feel completely at home and treasured. I even stop in to say hi when I'm walking my dogs. They have a big fan club among the locals men and women, and even some tiny girls. I have always been happy with the quality of the service. The only time my polish gets messed up is when I just can't wait for it to dry so I rush out too soon before it's done- my issue not theirs- but still they'll fix it for me with a smile. I love those guys! It is just the most thorough and neat job around. I am quite picky and always walk out with perfect feet- perfect nails and cuticles with super soft and callus free feet. Cannot say enough about the clean and professional environment along with a family feel, they always remember me and I notice that everyone coming in are also regulars. I have special issues with ingrown toe nails and Lee "the old man" as his wife calls him is an expert at dealing with this issue. They take an interest in the health of your feet not just slapping on polish. It is also only place I have ever gone that gives a decent leg massage. This has been the greatest discovery of my life finding this awesome salon. The business and work ethic of this husband and wife team is rare to find these days. The personal care and service is something not experienced in other salons. I have been going faithfully for over two years and my sister has been a client for over 15. I had a horrible case of fungus and they were able to treat it successfully and make sure it does not become such a problem again. The patience and service level to make sure the customer feels the utmost level of care has been every so appreciated. I live 30 miles from Encinitas, but , I was at the Lumberyard with friends and I had a pedicure here about 6 years ago. It was an okay experience. Today I was in the area and my experience was different. I observed the two owners giving a nice massage and what I thought would be a good experience turned out to be a total nightmare. They had me sit with my feet in water for 25 minutes, and the jets kept falling off. I could not believe the conversation that was taking place between Theresa and a client. She was badmouthing an employee that she was going to fire and going into detail in front of all of us. They both seemed overworked. Lee came over and started to trim my nails. He was rough and cutting too close, but I did not say anything He was quite condescending about my large toenail. I was insulted in front of his clients. I am disappointed. I chose to get up and leave. I would not have this man trim my Maincoon. One star for cleanliness. read more

In response to the owner's comment to my review...my friend certainly did NOT give you a 5 star rating. That was probably one of your friends who was asked to balance out my 1 star review. My friend who was there with me was absolutely shocked at how unprofessional, disrespectful, mercurial, and aggressive the male owner was. Essentially, Lee created problems with his own miscommunication & double-booking which cost him free pedicure certificates to new customers (who he initially accused of calling the wrong salon but then gave them the certificates to make up for it)...and he took it all out on me. There are many ways to politely handle a situation or miscommunication...what happened here was preposterous, rude, unkind, and just not acceptable. The ironic thing was the owners weren't even ready for my friend & me as they were still finishing up with other customers. Your customer base who "loves you" is extremely limited as your salon is always understaffed and you barely have any clients in there. I was one of those clients until you decided to be so discourteous and unapologetic about it. Many things last 20 years...not all are great things. I should've stopped going to Heavenly Nails the third time my nails were trimmed too hard & low which left me hurting. I am more than happy to go my own way now and let my friends & neighbors know to join me at Legend Nails or at 101 Nail Lounge -- both places where my nails have looked great & lasted without chipping for 2 weeks (without doing shellac). The service at each of these other well-staffed salons has been professional, courteous, accommodative, efficient, relaxing, and flexible. As such, they are a much better fit for me. read more

Teresa and Lee both "worked me over" in the best possible sense of those words. I read Genevieve's remarks and agree, but with a different viewpoint (and more stars): If Genevieve had overheard Teresa and Lee's conversation with me, she'd have been appalled, too. However, I found their candor refreshing--but they were speaking about me, to me -- and advising for my benefit. (I always feel similarly to Genevieve when I overhear gossip, and also get up and walk away from that.) Anyway, with Teresa's scrub, my feet haven't been this baby smooth since my toddler years. And the "rough" treatment by Lee was explained as no other nail care professional ever did -- including a podiatrist (ingrown toenail). My feet probably shouldn't go without care for a month (or more), but they still feel better than they have in years, one month later. Have an appointment for this week. Cannot believe I've had the misfortune to be misspending my money elsewhere all this time. Worth the drive into North County (I, too, live 30 miles away). Heck, would be worth the drive from a neighboring state. Won't go elsewhere for a full spa pedicure. Cannot address some possible other issues as the salon was empty save for me and my friend, so will give one less than five stars. read more

When I moved up from Mission Valley to the Encinitas area I had to re-establish my routine. One aspect of this included my regular pedicures I get as part of my self care and sanity. The first time I went to Heavenly Nails I had the Lavender Pedicure. As I was new to the area I was not familiar with this small family owned business and their custom of scheduling appointments for this type of pedicure. Once it was over I realized why, and think it is totally worth it as they use lavender scent aromatherapy and hot stones as part of the treatment. Teresa and Lee are obviously focused on their customers enjoyment of their experience and ensure that each persons scheduled time is protected. They are also family oriented and had som younger family members there learning the skills that have made the owners respected by their many repeat customers.
