I placed and order less than 2 days ago. I thought I lost my sunglasses and panic ordered, only to find them less than 2 days after placing the order. I immediately called and the man who answered the call, asked why I needed to cancel them. I was honest and told him, expecting a respectful response. He told me it was impossible as the frames were already ordered. And the lenses "were in production", which I question, because I signed up for updates, and did not receive notice of this information (as I have from other vendors in the past). Additionally was told it would be weeks before the product would be shipped. I don't know if it was Grant that I spoke to. If it was, he's simply not pleasant. If it is someone who works for him, they should not be. A good business shows respect for their customers. I shop nearly 100% online. I have for many years (yes, even before COVID). I have NEVER written a negative review, even when I've received a less than perfect product, have historically had customer service reps listen and work with me. I have kept products from small companies, when I have ordered in error, even when I am offered a full refund. I hung up on the man who answered the phone, which I haven't done since I slammed the phone down on my middle-school boyfriend 30+ years ago. Don't make purchases from arrogant business owners, who my gut tells me is dishonest. Bad business. I read the other reviews. The reviews that were less than favorable, were responded to by Grant in a defensive way, not by a company who cares about their customers. read more

I paid a lot of money for 7eye Bora glasses with prescription. I need the glasses as I had radiation treatment that caused severe dry eye. When I received the glasses one lens was defective. It was so thick it didn't fit in the groove of the frame. I sent pics to Grant and asked for him to send the correct lens. He wanted the frames however they are interchangeable and seeing that that didn't help initially why not just send the correct lens? Grant wanted me to have the lenses checked for accuracy before and then send back the frame with lenses. This makes no sense as one lens was simply defective. I should have a defective lens sent back after having it checked by the prescriber? That makes no sense. I think Grant thinks I will give up after making excessive trips sending the lenses back and forth. He eventually agreed to sending me a lens, however, I haven't received or even received a tracking number as I have requested. Grant responded to a review by stating he sent a replacement lens. This is a lie. I have not received in weeks and he refuses to send a tracking number. He ripped me off. Can't wait to see his dishonest response to this. Grant please sending tracking number for the lens you never sent. read more

I ordered a pair of Randolph sunglasses from the HeavyGlare web site. With a coupon code, I got them for significantly less than Amazon wanted for the same glasses. After ordering, I recieved an email from HeavyGlare stating that they didn't have those specific glasses in stock, and had ordered them from the manufacturer for me. A small business can't keep a huge stock of expensive glasses, so I understood that, no big deal. The glasses arrived in a timely manner and are exactly what I wanted. I appreciated the communication, letting me know that shipping out would take a little longer, and again, the price was a lot better than Amazon. Unfortunately I had a bad customer service experience. I ordered some cocoon flip-ups in yellow , so I can drive at night in size "square", somehow I got sent the wrong size, the" rectangular". The guy on the phone when I called , said he was the owner, he was extremely intractable and did not even entertain the possibility, that they may have made a mistake. He blamed me completely for ordering the wrong item. I asked about whether if I reordered and sent back the "rectangular" size, I could get some help with postage. Otherwise I would be paying three times for postage . Once with the original order , then to return the item , then too get the new correct order. He was very unpleasant to deal with . I grew up with "the customer is always right " kind of customer service. This experience would lead me to never deal with this company again. read more

Having searched different sites for the past 2 years, i came across this business and due to the complicated details, self education and type of products Grant has, the process took quite a while; as it depended on other variables. Working with Grant was OUTSTANDING, especially when it came to actually "building" my glasses. This product made a HUGE difference. I like the frame, the gasket and the lens. Their blueblock lens WORKS. From being a bit skeptical about not being able to try on a pair, Grant asked for the measurements and Rx of my several pairs of my different glasses and sunglasses, getting my glasses early, the mental adjustment, everything was well worth it. Keep in mind other than sunglasses, almost everything i use for daily personal use-aside from electronics-are SPECIALTY MADE. I recently purchased a year supply of contacts from Heavyglare, and much to my surprise received the best customer service along with my purchase. I ordered the wrong prescription online and upon receiving my contacts, I immediately contacted the store. I spoke with Grant the CEO of the company, about my mistake. He handled the problem as though it was his own. He explained how he needed to reach out to one of his reps to see how to handle the issue. Within an hour of reporting the problem, Grant had not only reached out to one of his reps, but he had the contacts being shipped to me. When he called me back, he explained that my contacts would be at my house within a few days. He told me how to send back the wrong ones. When I asked about the shipping cost, he said he would handle it. Customer service is something that is often times over looked, but in this case has made a huge difference. When a company is willing to handle your mistake as though it was their own, it really shows how much the company values your business. Grant is someone who is not out for the end dollar but rather a business owner who actually cares. His professional manner in handling my issue is something to really respect. I will be personally continuing to go back to Heavyglare with all my future prescriptions. I would recommend any of my family or friends to buy their eyeware from Heavyglare. I ordered just about every option (except Transitions & photochromic) in the book: polycarbonate, Shamir III, polarized, premium AR surfacing. I took advantage of a 15% off promo and saved about $75! Rx was perfect. Corrects both my myopia and astigmatism from edge to edge. Communication and feedback were nearly instantaneous, with CEO Grant both emailing and phoning me with answers to all my questions. Grant took great care in taking my glasses that got scratched while right at the end of the warranty period and was able to get the vendor to replace the lenses for me. And since we no longer live in the area Grant made sure to get them shipped back to me in Spring, Tx. We've bought multiple regular and prescription sun glasses from Grant. I would not recommend this place for anyone who needs specialty lenses or glasses with a high prescription -- it doesn't appear that Heavyglare knows what they're doing. I ordered a pair of specialty glasses here over the phone, paid roughly $350, and ended up spending 6 months going back and forth with the company about a refund. I still have a very blurry, very expensive pair of glasses sitting in my closet. Pros: - Jessica... she is hands down the nicest, most thoughtful person. She sold me the glasses originally and every time I dealt with her, I came away less frustrated. Cons: - Grant... he is the CEO of the company. He was, at times, patient. But I never got the sense that he cared about me as a customer. More importantly, as an optician, he seemed to lack any capability of troubleshooting. - cost... the prices are very high - turnaround time... because they don't cut their own lenses (they send them off to a lab), the turnaround time can be long. One of my repairs took 5 weeks. - poor product... my order was for a high prescription specialty lens, so that's all I can speak to. But the glasses I bought are completely unusable. My regular pair of glasses have the same prescription and they work great, so I'm not sure why Heavyglare was unable to make me something equivalent using their products. - refund policy... despite sending me a pair of glasses I cannot use, Heavyglare never offered me a refund. I think that's bad business and I wouldn't recommend that others take the risk. read more

I lost the pair of Polarized Smoke Edge Dakura sunglasses I'd purchased from Heavyglare, so I called them up in and said I'd like to purchase the same pair of sunglasses again. The customer service rep told me she would have to hang up and call me back in a few minutes in order to look this info up (weird), so I said okay. Hours later instead of a phone call I got an email (weird) saying the last pair I'd ordered is the Edge Dakura sunglasses. I replied back asking her to send me the "Smoke" Edge Dakuras. Instead, I received in the mail the G-15 Silver Mirror version of the Edge Dakura (weird again). I told them of the mistake over the phone and asked for a pre-paid shipping label to be sent to me at their expense as it was their mistake. They agreed to send me the label. I then used the label they sent me only to find out later when I looked at my credit card statement that they deducted the cost of the pre-paid shipping label from my refund when they only returned to me $23.96 of the $29.99 I paid. Mr. Lambert states below that they read to me my order over the phone and received my confirmation - implying that I actually consented to being sold the G-15 Silver Mirror version, which aren't even sunglasses, instead of the Smoke sunglasses I'd asked for. This did not happen as the customer service rep told me she had to get off the phone in order to look up my order history and then did not call me back, and in my reply to her email I asked specifically for the "Smoke" version of the Edge Dakura sunglasses. I would be happy to forward this email to anyone who is curious. It is a mystery to me why Mr. Lambert suggests below that his company doesn't sell the Polarized Smoke version of the Edge Dakura as it can be clearly seen for sale here: http://www.heavyglare.com/edge-safety-eyewear-dakura.html (second option from the top). I spent a ton of time making phone calls and writing emails throughout this process and still ended up getting shafted by this company. Heavyglare has truly awful customer service. I was extremely pleased with the time Mr. Lambert spent explaining the digital surfacing process with me and what it meant. They also were the only ones that had the frames I wanted both online and locally. As my first pair of glasses, I did not want to make any more adjustments to life than necessary. I selected the digital progressive and sent in my PD with my full prescription. When the glasses arrived I was astounded at the clarity and zero peripheral loss as I looked around the room with my eyes. Truly amazing.
