It was our first visit, and I was looking for cracklings. We were offered samples, and the employees were very friendly, had many recommendations and answered all our questions. Customer service was fantastic I was greeted when I entered the establishment and asked if I had any questions. It is a small mom and papa location but they are serving lunch with a daily menu change so stop in if you looking for something Cajun. I dropped in for cracklings my parents favorites when visiting the boot. This was their first time eating them from this location. They said it good. The chicken cracklings were good they still had some meat to some parts which is nice. Especially when you make only get skin and fat from other locations. The ambiance is definitely family forward and to go plates only. They have some unique Cajun ideas like a chicken stuffed with brisket and cream cheese. This place is a staple piece in lake Charles now. Nowadays you go get a double cheeseburger from a fast food place and spend $16. I went in to get the crawfish étouffée and crawfish dip but left with two plate lunches for $13 each. Much better than a processed cheeseburger. Please go and support this local restaurant. Stopped by to get some items for a party and ordered the crawfish etouffee and the chicken/sausage gumbo and both were pretty decent. The etouffee was a little on the salty side but still flavored well. Boudin was great, and getting the samples was a nice touch. I definitely have a gripe about the cashier. She overcharged us on the chicken/sausage gumbo but when we corrected her, she was fairly rude about it saying "that's the price". Earlier, there was a nice lady that showed us all the products and prices, but they obviously weren't in sync. Really sad way to try and earn (cheat) an extra dollar out of people. read more

Can't say enough how happy is am this place exists in general, but especially in Lake Charles. Their frozen food trays and meats taste like home to me- spicy, delicious, and made with love! I just had a plate lunch today- crawfish ettoufet stuffed chicken with cheesy potatoes, green beans, white beans, with a bread roll. The chicken, ettoufet were delicious and well seasoned. The cheesy potatoes were great. I didn't try the white beans. The green beans tasted as though they had too much worsteshire for my liking. However I will be back!!!! read more

This place has got it going on!!!! Do yourself a favor and order a shrimp pie. I've never had any better!!! The boudin is tasty although I have had better. I'd still give it a solid 8 of 10. Ok...I can roast a turkey..I can roast pretty much anything but I know NOTHING about roasting a duck. I went here, they had duck stuffed with pork sausage AND exact instructions on how to cook it. I went through it a few times with the nice lady at the counter cause it was obvious I was clueless about cooking a duck. She was super patient and explained it perfectly. I know this cause...I cooked it exactly as she said, and not only was I blown away, but the other person who ate it was blown away. we ate the entire duck. it was just too good. they had it seasoned and everything perfect. IF YOU WANT some good duck to effortlessly cook thats seasoned to cajun perfection....go here!!!! and talk about nice people. I will DEF go again!
