Earlier in the day, bae out of the blue messages me to pack our bag for a surprise roadtrip! He doesn't tell me where we are going but that he booked a hotel and has a place in mind for dinner. We ended up in Lake Charles for a 7pm reservation at La Truffe Sauvage. We were warmly greeted and sat down at a corner table topped with a single yellow rose for the evening. If you didn't know, yellow roses are my favorite! It was definitely fate that brought us there. We began the night with their warm complimentary bread and an order of their beef carpaccio with the fluffiest truffle potato chip I've ever had. What came next was their breadcrumb crusted goat cheese laying beautifully on a bed of spinach. Followed by their creamed artichoke soup hidden under a cloud of puffed pastry. For entrees, we shared their crispy snapper and fresh tagliatelle with shrimp. All in all, an incredible meal. Everything was perfect with the person sitting next to me, all the love in the air, combined with an impeccable meal, a girl couldn't ask for more. We stayed in town an extra day, celebrating our anniversary, so that we could enjoy this fine restaurant and we are so glad that we did! Amazing staff, owner, atmosphere, service, and incredible tasting food. From the before dinner drinks, French 75 (with St German foam-wow) & Bourbon Old Fashioned (with muddled orange-amazing flavor added) to the bottle of Vinafore Chardonnay (which was selected by our amazing server) the drinks did not disappoint. For appetizers we started with the Traditional Steak Tartare served with truffle potato chips which paired so well together. The evening continued and did not disappoint with Pan Roasted Wild Gulf Red Snapper & Jumbo Lump Crabmeat Mary Louise (puff pastry so light) and both paired incredibly well with the Chardonnay. (And we are both red wine drinkers-enough said). And finishing the evening with a Berry Soufflé. Service was extremely slow and for a Saturday wow no one is here how are they open? Had to wait for my glass of wine which was ordered first before anything, after I received my appetizer. The place is so quiet the loudest thing is the squeaky old ratty chairs. Expected a little more ambiance. Food was actually pretty good. Started with foie gras, which was excellent even though it was duck. Really enjoyed the fish as a whole. Great pairings with the foie still prominent. Great job. The turtle soup was just ok. Would not do again. The scallops were cooked just right and the dish was not really Asian as he had mentioned. The broth was nice and a little citrusy. It grew on me as I progressed but not bad. Side was spanakopita, which was delicious as well and pastry was delicate. Very nice layers and flavor. Ended with the soufflé berry. Also delicious just wish it was a little firmer. Don't go with the dom Paul Sauvignon as it needed to warm up to have more presence. The other rombauer was much more fruity and crisp. All in all not bad. Just needs better service and ambiance. Second visit Foie gras, lobster bisque, Mary Louise, grand marnier soufflé, French 75. This place is a solid 4. Really good food and quiet. What I love about gras is that it's a substantial piece which most places give you a taste they don't skimp here. Fantastic. Lobster bisque could use something in it to bring some dynamic. A dining experience at La Truffe Sauvage is always a culinary delight, but with the current situation with COVID-19, I wasn't convinced that the experience could be translated well to take-out food. I'm happy to report that my doubts were unfounded. This evening we saw a special announced on the Facebook page for the Paella València for Two. This was an amazingly large portion of Saffron risotto, fire roasted peppers, sweet peas, and fresh seafood including shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, fish, squid, and some chicken. The last paella we ate was is Spain, and this was on par with the ones we enjoyed there. The dish served two of us with plenty to spare, saving room for dessert: one the best Napoleons I've ever eaten. If you have any doubts about getting a quality meal by takeout from La Truffe Sauvage, worry no more. This meal was truly exceptional. read more

Was tired of eating the fare at L'Auberge, and found this cute little gem tucked away in a pretty random business park in LC. Quite a selection for their dinner service (though really only one dish featuring truffle!), and even though I was dining by myself that evening, I ended up probably eating for two. Duck confit over risotto was nicely prepared, though I would've preferred the risotto slightly more toothsome. Pot au feu was also nice. The comforting (and rich) broth was perfect for the cool winter evening (and had a very nourishing quality - fennel was a nice touch), although the scallop was just a touch over. The piece de resistance, however, was the Grand Marnier souffle - a veritable cloud of delicious. Delicate, airy, beautiful. Definitely, one of the better souffles I've had. All in all, a pleasant dining experience, perhaps a little spendy, but definitely an unexpected surprise. Can't wait until to try more of the menu. read more

We were visiting and this was our last night here. The previous night we had a traumatizing, long dinner experience at a restaurant (let's just say starting with a Ma-) but came into La Truffe with an open mind about restaurants in this city. Ambience: When you walk in there's a large centerpiece of roses that smelled wonderful which reached our table. The inside has glass windows so you can see the garden outside. There were fairy lights inside and a piano player arriving when we left (around 6:45pm). Food: App we tried the Duck leg Confit which was perfectly cooked with an amazing dipping sauce. Entree was Beef short rib which was perfectly cooked and fell apart (as it should), paired with a many cheesy potato side which was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Dessert was the chocolate Soufflé which he poured chocolate sauce directly into the middle at the table. Service was outstanding! They timed everything perfectly from drinks, apps, dinner and dessert. Didn't feel like they were gone too long or there too much. They had one of the best etiquette and manners I have ever experienced. Overall, dining with a picky foodie Washington boy and myself as a LA girl, we have had one of the best food hands down and dining experiences of our lives. We will definitely be back when we're in the area to try the many mouthwatering options on the menu. read more

Another gluten free gem in Lake Charles, hidden from all the fat and fried food that is here. It was an accident I found this menu online and I thank God weekly that I did. I love the atmosphere, the food and the wait staff. This place would fit in much better in the northeast part of the US, its not meant for the tastes here. The dishes have all been amazing, so much flavor, perfectly paired and cooked to perfection. The wait staff is friendly, not overbearing and know their menu, especially for a guest with an allergy. They have worked with me everytime. The last time the BF and I went they had a piano player and his son, it was a tuesday night. This place is made for people with class. I have had seafood both times, cooked perfect with a light sauce. The BF had a roast, cut with a fork and had zero fat. Next time I am saving room for dessert, homemade souffles. We will be here often in my 8 months here. Great for special occasions for people who dont want to open their wallet often for great food. The restaurant was quiet, comfortable, and well appointed. Saturday the 30th was the first time we have eaten here, but we will be back many times. The menu is filled with tempting appetizers , salads and entrees. I had pan seared crab cake that was outstanding; perfectly seasoned and moist. Next was a fabulous redfish filet on a base of sautéed veggies served with roasted potatoes. The potatoes were slightly undercooked, but acceptable. Dessert was a great raspberry tort and a cup of rich coffee. My wife had a similar meal and we we felt that the $145 check was appropriate. Service was courteous, and personal. We travel to Lake Charles probably 15 times a year and now we have a restaurant we can enjoy for years to come. read more

Wonderful staff and very accommodating to vegans. My girlfriend and I went for our anniversary. We enjoyed cocktails, starters, entrees, and even splurged on desserts. For entrees, my girlfriend the enjoyed the Mary Louise, which was crab in a puffy pastry with cream sauce, and the chef whipped up a vegan dish of portobello mushrooms with roasted red peppers, spinach and quinoa for me. Wow, all I can say is wow, this was my 4th visit and I haven't been let down once, I've had a few of the specialties, some specials and all have met or exceeded fine dining in the big cities. We got the spanakopita, which had a very well done filling, as well as the soup which had a delicious pastry fluff on top.
