The Buffalo Creek Preserve and Trail is a 2.1 mile long segment that is part of the Carolina Thread…read moreTrail. It is apparently easy to moderate in difficulty, though the spots of it that I saw looked easy. It is not a loop - it is a straight line out and back so keep that in mind as you head out that you're going to have to do the same distance in return. There is a decent sized parking lot at the start but there are no features other than the lot and a sign with a map of the preserve. It is a beautiful part of North Carolina and I enjoyed my walk to the bridge and back. [Review 14390 overall, 1715 of 2020, number 2715 in North Carolina.]

Lovely trail about 25 min outside Charlotte. I came early in the morning with the K9, and we…read morethoroughly enjoyed meandering through the fall foliage. It's a great way to spend an hour or two of walking, covering about 4 miles there and back. Not a ton of elevation on this one(only about 500 ft gained on the whole hike), but the scenery is in flux throughout the entire 2 mile jaunt. You transition from evergreen trees and pine needles to beautiful reds and yellows, and a thick carpet of fallen leaves blanketed the trail. There also is a creek with a suspension bridge to cross, and then more pine trees again. The path is quite clear and well trod, but in the early morning I only came across a few people, allot of squirrels and one very surprised deer.

Great spot to hang out on a Sunday afternoon. Drove up around 4pm and walked around, sat on some of…read morethe benches right on the water, and enjoyed a beautiful sunset. It was quite busy - not surprising given the mid 80s temps and not a cloud in sight. But I was still able to find some quieter areas. It's nice loop to walk around and there is plenty of seating, benches, trash receptables, plus restrooms. Not sure if there is normally a fee to park/enter, but I did not have to pay on my visit. Highly recommend for a leisurely excursion! @azfitfoodfun

This review is going to be so late based on the actual park for kids. As a mom with young kids, I'm…read morealways park hopping to find the best parks in town. Jetton Park is perfect for hot days. It's in a wooded area so it's a well shaded. There's lots for kids to do and while most of the stuff I will say is geared towards kids five and up there are things for younger kids to do and I do appreciate the handicap swings. Kids younger than three have a very tiny area to play compared to everything else. They're definitely going to be drawn to the main play area, which is bigger and you might have bigger kids running around so that creates a little bit of an unsafe situation when you have a mix of uncoordinated children, and bigger rowdy kids. Even if your kids are bigger doesn't mean that they'll be able to use everything at the park. Some of the things are definitely geared towards balance and coordination so if your kids are not well coordinated or have good balance or can catch themselves if they fall I would stay close by. The other thing I love about this park is that we can bring our bikes and take a ride down to the water and let the kids play by the sanded area. The trails are beautiful and you'll definitely get some good distance in if you're going to go to any of the stops along the trail.
