Had an excellent meal here! The cocktails were fresh and inventive (excellent Negroni). Had grilled romaine salad which was great and the tylacoyoa which we enjoyed for appetizers. The duck confit which was phenomenal- full of rich flavor and the mole to go with it was great. Also got the green curry with the catch of the day and it was solid, not too heavy on coconut milk and had a great kick. The desserts were pretty good- the white chocolate mouse had a shell that was almost impenetrable, but the churros were great. Service was also very attentive and friendly, seemed like they were enjoying themselves which really made the meal even more pleasant. Overall excellent meal and would be happy to go back. Also 2 cocktails, 2 apps, 2 entrees and 2 deserts came to $135 including tip! Very good value for your dollar here. read more

Hands down the best meal we had after spending 5 nights in PV and 4 in Punta Mita. Hector and team are doing really interesting things with contemporary Mexican cuisine. Hector is from Oaxaca and that definitely comes across on the menu. We ordered the tuna tartar, crab rolls, octopus with mole and the fish of the day. Each dish was excellent. All of the fish is super fresh and local... you can't go wrong. Hectors just opened this fall. Prior to opening this restaurant, Hector spent 6 years at the Four Seasons so he very much understands high quality ingredients and a great dining experience. The food was reasonable priced and the atmosphere was comfortable. A refreshing getaway from the big resorts. Luis our waiter was the best. We never miss dinner at Hector's when we are in Punta Mita but this was our first time to do the cooking class. It was so SPECIAL and DELICIOUS and FUN! Hector is talented and kind and clearly well respected by his staff. We started at the restaurant with fresh margaritas and traveled by private car to a fish market where Hector picked out fresh lobsters, snook and grouper. We went back to the restaurant where he cooked an incredible 4 course meal for us. This is a special, unique experience for a non beach/pool day on vacation. Highly recommend! Amazing menu with choices to please everyone in our party of 8 ages 17-50. Attentive, knowledges waitstaff with intuitive suggestions. Appetizers, yes. Entree, yes, Desserts, yes please! My family and I were staying in Punta Mita for our summer vacation, and found an amazing gem in Hector's Kitchen. We signed up for a lunch experience where we drove with Hector to the local fish market to learn about the history and culture that makes this area so special. We then went back to the restaurant for what turned out to be a private multi-course meal that blew us away. One of my children doesn't love fish, so Hector and his amazing team made a separate menu for him. We talked with everyone at our hotel about our tour and lunch at Hector's, and decided to spend our last night there. It was certainly the right choice. We found online a cooking class at Hector's Kitchen and decided to do it. Best decision we made!! He took all 5 of us to a fish market and taught us about the fish and how they choose them. We picked yellow snapper, snook, and lobsters that all were caught with hours. We went back to his VERY nice restaurant and sat at the counter looking into the kitchen as Hector and his staff prepared guacamole, ceviche with the snapper, lobster tacos and a main course with the snook. He taught us how to prepare them. We also a a local craft beer paired with each course and we started with Habiscus margaritas which were amazing. 2 of my kids don't do gluten and one doesn't eat fish. We told Hector he didn't need to do anything special for them but he totally hooked them up. Hector is amazing. We loved it so much we made reservations for 2 night later to eat dinner there. We sat at the counter also for that night snd got to watch them go through a dinner service as we ate our dinner. We have eaten at some amazing restaurants and as a matter of fact we all had just eaten at Morimotos in Vegas....all 5 of us agreed Hector's was better in so many ways. My husband and I visited last week during our stay in Punta Mita. We really enjoyed the service and the food. We found this gem online and reviewed the menu and were excited to try, however, they changed the menu so we didn't get to order some of the things we planned. I ordered the fish of the day which was a sea bass I believe and it was delicious. It was buttery and had a nice crispy outside. It was a little salty in my opinion, but overall great dish. My husband had the mushroom risotto and that was also really tasty. Great flavors, great texture, and the wild mushrooms were perfect. We had the corn cake dessert, but we didn't really care for it. We really wanted the banana desert we saw on Yelp, but that was on the old menu. We did also have a cocktail and while I don't remember the name it was delicious. It was on their drink menu. The waiter was a little heavy on up-selling drinks, but overall great service. The chef came around and checked in the tables and told us a little bit about himself. I would recommend this place. The old standards never tasted so good with a regional flare that was unmatched. Ask for Jonathan, because he gave excellent service and his knowledge of the regional specialties was exceptional. This restaurant was kind of a disaster but also quite good. It was almost like it was brand new. They made a lot of mistakes but made up for them. Some items were incredible! The tofu in the vegan entree was unbelievable and the shrimp and tortellini appetizers were amazing. There was this weird issue where only the appetizers sounded appetizing so we mainly order those. But for mains, My brother loved his duck and my sister loved her risotto. However, my mom had a lot of problems with her food which was only the appetizers. They forgot an ingredient in her tortellini and it was undercooked and her short ribs were cold twice in a row. Like we asked for a new one and that one was still cold. Anyway, this place is pretty good it just has a lot of technical errors that need to be addressed. read more

My family has been coming to Punta Mita for ten years now. Overall, the restaurant scene is excellent and only getting better with the addition of Hector's. This is a fine dining experience at reasonable prices. Hector was a chef for seven years at the Four Seasons. The cuisine is local and fritures a great selection of starters and entrees that are pretty unique for the local restaurant options. If you want traditional Mexican this is not the place. Our server was Luis who was excellent. My family of five along with my parents sampled a lot of the menu. Highlights would be the fried oysters, octopus, crab salad cone to start. For entrees we had mahi mahi, sea bass, shrimp, and tagliatelle and all were excellent. For dessert, the chocolate mousse is a standout. The setting is modern with an open kitchen facing diners. We would rank Hector's right up there with Si Senor, Sufi, & Casa Teresa. read more

Friends recommended Hectors Kitchen whom are very particular when it comes to cuisine and restaurants. We couldn't have picked a better restaurant for our last night in Punta Mita. Ambience and atmosphere are clean and sophisticated. Food was flavorful, well prepared and perfectly composed dishes. We decided to do the tasting menu and we couldn't have been happier. Our concierge/butler hadn't recommended Hectors Kitchen so it wasn't on our initial radar. I am assuming this establishment is quite young so it's not frequently recommended by hotels. The restaurant only opened four months ago but you couldn't tell at all. The service was impeccable and the food was great. I would recommend the Sweet Potato tortellini, Tuna tostada and Pork Belly. This is my third trip to Punta Mita and Hector's Kitchen is a new addition. I was intrigued after reading the reviews and decided to give it a go. I wanted seafood so I ordered the tempura oysters and the stone crab cones for appetizers, and the grilled octopus as the main. I got some solid local beer recommendations from the staff that worked out nicely with the meal. The oysters were delicious. The stone crab cones were a bit bland, and the dusted sweet paprika powder was a bit too much. The grilled octopus was terrific, grilled to perfection, not chewy at all and paired with the most delicious mole coloradito and mashed potatoes. It's hard to find good mole in the Vallarta area. The staff explained that Hector is originally from Oaxaca and that mole is his thing. He sure delivered. Overall very good food and terrific service but the prices felt a bit steep for the location, decor and ambiance. I'll be back... read more

This was our first visit to this newly opened place and wow, what a find! The service is phenomenal and It's obvious the food is meticulously crafted and well thought out. We shared the beet salad which totally delivered in freshness combined with the crunch of sunflower seeds. So good! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the polenta with mushrooms which he said was an earthy, beautiful contrast of textures. Our daughter's tagliatelle with calamari was a total hit and my fresh fish - sea bass - with fennel and tomatoes was cooked to perfection.
