She said all the right things and made me feel confident hiring her. Looking back, my experience did not match what was presented to me at all. After I paid the retainer, I was billed an additional $12,150 just 2.5 weeks later. Then, only 2 hours after sending that bill, I received a substitution of attorney request. The timing felt abrupt and honestly concerning. From there, communication quickly broke down. She ultimately moved to withdraw close to trial, leaving me in a stressful position trying to figure things out while my case was still active. Another major issue- she rarely appears at hearings herself. Instead, her associate, Aniko, is sent in her place. This was not something that Lauren does not clearly explain during the consultation process! The communication overall was incredibly poor. On the morning of an ex parte hearing, I received a text from Lauren saying, "Court is looking for you. Are you on your way?".. despite never being clearly told the hearing date or time. When I asked where that information had been provided, I was directed back to the filing itself, which did not list a hearing date. At that point, there was still no meaningful trial preparation or evidence package completed for my case. This entire experience felt disorganized, poorly communicated, and unnecessarily stressful during an already difficult time. I would strongly caution anyone considering hiring this attorney.

Much of the paperwork submitted on my behalf appeared to be reworked versions of documents I had already provided, yet I was charged over $6,000 in fees. Communication with the office was often delayed or dismissive, although payment requests were consistently prompt. I also felt that important issues--such as my co-parent's marijuana use and potential flight risk--were downplayed rather than properly addressed. As a result, I am now in a situation where I must share custody under circumstances I do not feel are in my child's best interest. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend these services.

She repeatedly brought up her personal life and custody situation instead of focusing on my case, which I found highly unprofessional. Despite providing police reports, CPS documentation, and photos showing injuries my son sustained while in his mother's care, she still refused to advocate strongly on my behalf. She even discouraged me from pursuing 50/50 custody, telling me to "just go through the process." Her staff was disorganized and unprofessional -- often unable to explain billing charges or provide clear account summaries. I never received a final judgment, case summary, or minute order printouts from her office. I had to constantly follow up just to get partial information. In the end, I had to advocate for myself and my son throughout the entire case. The experience left me feeling financially drained and completely unsupported. I strongly advise others to look elsewhere for competent, respectful legal representation.

Unfortunately, my experience fell short of these expectations. There was a lack of effective communication, timely updates, and diligent case management from Julianne and her office. On multiple occasions, I felt overlooked, misled, and lost throughout the process. Mediation was scheduled, and I reached out via email to seek guidance. I was scheduled for a telephone appointment with Julianne on Sunday afternoon, the day before the mediation, but no specific time was provided. I waited all day for the call and eventually emailed the office at 8:06 p.m. Julianne responded the following morning at 9:11 a.m., after the mediation had already concluded. The mediation itself was highly distressing; I left the session feeling as though I had done something wrong. The mediator remarked that I was too emotional and advised me to "get myself together," which only added to the frustration of an already difficult experience. I retained an attorney to help guide me through this tremendously difficult process, but I was left feeling overwhelmed, confused, and fearful. My initial court hearing was scheduled for mid-July 2023 but was postponed the Friday prior due to a family emergency involving Julianne. The rescheduled hearing did not take place until October 2023. I met with Julianne for the first and ONLY time at the October 2023 hearing. By February 2024, I had incurred over $10,000 in legal fees while still attempting to resolve my case, with monthly billing for services that were unclear. There were extended periods with no communication from the office. I was fighting for retirement accounts that, based on my understanding of California law, should be considered community property and divided equally in a long-term marriage. In mid-February 2024, I received a $3,000 invoice from the office. When I sought clarification and requested a call with Julianne, I was instead sent an email stating: "Unfortunately, we cannot begin working on responding to this until you have replenished your trust account in the amount of $3,000.00. Please be sure to speak to Diana, our billing specialist, at your earliest convenience. Once you have deposited the necessary amount, we will be in contact with you to ascertain the triable issues in your case in order to respond accordingly." My interaction with Diana from the billing department was particularly disheartening, as she was rude and unprofessional. Despite my concerns, I replenished the trust account, as the first status conference was scheduled for March 2024. However, I had no clear understanding of the purpose of the conference, and no explanation was provided. Furthermore, I was informed that Julianne would be on vacation and unavailable to attend Daniel her associate attended in her place. By late May 2024, after incurring $12,000 in legal fees, I found myself unable to continue paying Julianne for her services. I felt completely overwhelmed and taken advantage of, having to navigate my court case independently without prior knowledge of divorce, custody, or the associated legal complexities. While I recognize that legal matters can be intricate, the lack of professionalism, communication, and commitment I experienced only exacerbated an already stressful situation. I cannot recommend the Law Office of Julianne Vandergrift to others undergoing a divorce unless significant improvements are made in their services.

The dirty doctor gave him 50/50 custody? Then my poor son was living a nightmare!! Repeated false CPS reports that just turned around and bit my ex in the butt! Evidence for miles and go to court? You have one judge that listens to everything? And a judge who can careless? My ex tested dirty not once but twice with CPS and came back inconclusive every single time? And the judges did absolutely nothing? He broke in my house we filed a R/O once again? And the judge just threw it out! Oh believe me it was like going through hell I was stressed out ! I have been accused of everything bad under the sun!! It's also exhausting and scary! His family also barged in my house and attacked me? Rebecca fought very hard for me from start to finish over 3.5 yrs where she was completely over my case but she didn't give up.. At the end of the day I walked away from everything but got full sole legal custody of my son and moved 2200 miles away. To me that was the biggest win. I am finally free and so is my son I knew it was all about money and the house and Rebecca made it happen. The court system is terrible and I don't wish that on my worst enemy!! My ex had money and used the court system as a further way of abuse and Rebecca saved my A$$ ! If it was not for Rebecca I would have lost everything!! It was the divorce from hell!! Instead of moving on like adults do? He wanted to see me suffer and used the court system to do it. And now he got fired rite before his second child support payment.. But that's KARMA maybe if he focused on himself instead of focusing on trying to ruin me things would be different.. I am going to miss Rebecca and Lisa but I'm glad this is finally done.
