Dr Ward is extremely loving and caring toward EVERY animal (and human)that walks thru these doors. The pets that come here are in a serious health crisis of one kind or another. We came because my service dog has anal gland cancer. There's nothing they can do for the cancer itself, but the tumors are causing his calcium to increase, thus he's having urinary problems. The kindness of Dr Ward and the staff is outstanding. The humans are desperate for their pets and these people are exactly the love we need to receive for the reason we are here. I'd give them 10 stars if I could. They treat my baby as I would treat him if I had to give him chemo, with gentle hands and loving words. The first visit was easy. Walk in, fill out one page of quick paperwork, weigh on the scale in the waiting room and within 15 minutes, you're in the back with the Dr. She even comes out to the waiting room and talks with people waiting in between her appointments, as she waits for a test or scan for someone in the back rooms. Even on every other visit, they've made it easy and as relaxing as they could. If you come in stressed, they calm you; "It's ok. Relax. No worries. We've got you. You're in good hands now." And I've always felt the Truth to those words. My second dog got very clingy lately and I had to start bringing him with us. "Who's this little guy?" ("It's ok. Relax. No worries. We've got you.") My sick one got bad diarrhea from his chemo. ("It's ok. Relax. No worries. We've got you.) They switched his medicine from a pill to an IV and it took care of it. The tech tells me what's happening, and Dr Ward comes out and talks to me and makes sure I know what's happening and whether I have questions. So I get told twice in two different ways, because it's said that difficult information needs to be repeated in different ways (preferably 3 different ways, but 2 is better than just 1), so you're brain can grasp it. When I was diagnosed, I had to be told twice... For almost everything at first. Your brain is a survivalist. It does not like bad news that is life threatening. Anyway, the staff understands this and acts accordingly. Remember, though, as you act, so shall you be treated. IDK if there are any reviews that say the staff are horrible and unkind, but if there are, keep that in mind. This vet is amazing. I love her.

Thank you so much for your help with Big Guy - he is a totally different cat today! I'm going to be going over every day and will get back with you on Monday.

We have been seeing Dr. Ward for about a year and a half now. We were referred to her by our vet after tests showed our cat had mast cell cancer. We had been to our vet and another local vet who thought that our cat had allergies or other issues. Once tests confirmed cancer, we went to Dr. Ward for treatment. Almost immediately we saw improvements in our cat's physical appearance. It's also obvious that she feels so much better too. I love the staff at this office. The techs that I have had experiences with are very knowledgeable. They have spent extensive time with me and will answer all of my questions. One of the most impressive memories I have is of my first visit. Despite the fact that Dr. Ward was not feeling well that day and needed to go home, she took extra time with me to explain my pet's medical condition- it is more common. In dogs than cats. So, she found some articles for me to read and provided some explanations for me so I could better understand what we would be undergoing. I was very impressed with her extra effort, especially since she wasn't feeling well that day. We live more than 1.5 hours from Dr. Ward's office, but I continue to go back and seek her services because we have been so pleased with the outcome. Her fees are reasonable too- if we ever have extra medication, they take that into account and adjust the amount we are given so we don't have to pay for unneeded medications. The staff listen to and document all of our concerns. We also get a copy of every update in our pets medical file- that is also sent to our primary vet's office, so they are also aware of all treatment issues. I would definitely recommend Dr. Ward's office. It has been life changing for our pet.

We just moved here 4 months ago from Texas and we're in search of a new vet. We found this place on…read moreGoogle Maps. It had 108 reviews and a 4.8 star average. Although that's not that many reviews, we chose to give it a try because of the star average, the close proximity to our home and because out of the 10 different veterinary offices nearby, this was the only one what offered a pet plan. Upon arriving, the building looked kind of dated and it's easy to pass by, so be careful you don't miss it. When we walked in, all their merchandise and pet supplies looked well organized. There was even a white board that welcomed my miniature poodle, Rupert, for his first visit, which was very thoughtful of the staff. One of the ladies behind the counter asked how she could help us, but her disposition was very unwelcoming and unmannerly. We later found out from the doctor that her name was Brenda. As we were filling out the forms Brenda gave us, our dog was getting pretty nervous (which he does when he notices a shift in our regular routine or feels like he's in danger). He was whining and shaking a lot. Then I heard Brenda tell the other receptionist with annoyance, "Can you please get them into a room, so I can get my work done!" That was rude! If sounds that animals make bother you so much, you should not be working at a veterinarian office. One bad apple has the potential to sour the whole experience, so I have a few suggestions for this. Brenda should try smiling, adding some cheerfulness to her tone of voice, and being friendly with the animals and their owners. She has to 'act' like her job is enjoyable even if it isn't. Or she should work in the back, where there's no interaction with the customers. Once we were in a room, we let our dog down onto the floor, and I immediately noticed there was pee on the floor from a previous dog under the examination table. I also noticed the calendar still on December 2022, but that's besides the point. Autumn entered the room and greeted us with a smile. She was very jovial and bubbly! She started off with some friendly small talk, which made us feel like she was showing personal interest in us and our pup, and we even shared a few laughs. Then she asked some thorough questions about Rupert's health history. She really tried to help Rupert feel comfortable. She took him to the back for some blood work and returned with Dr. Kurtz. Dr. Kurtz was also very kind and sweet. She was gentle and patient with Rupert, which is important to us and she was very knowledgeable. She answered all of our questions and we definitely trust her with Rupert's care. As we were checking out, we paid for our visit with Stephanie. Stephanie was also very pleasant and had a friendly demeanor. She was concerned about how our visit went and she explained in detail what we would be charged for. We ended up signing up for the pet plan and had all of Rupert's semi annual tests done, along with some take home medication. Everything came up to about $405. Our only qualm was that at no time over the phone or in person were we told about a $99 plan startup fee for the Silver Plan. But that's fine. Overall, it was a good experience. And obviously we will be back since we live here now.

A Heartbreaking Goodbye to a Place I Once Loved After many…read moreyears of giving my time, energy, heart, and dedication to a nonprofit cat rescue, I never imagined I would leave feeling this disappointed, disrespected, and heartbroken. I stayed because I believed in the mission. I believed in saving cats. I believed in finding them safe, loving, forever homes. And I worked hard at it. Over the years, I helped find forever homes for thousands of cats and helped generate thousands of dollars in donations for the organization. I was extremely good at what I did, and more importantly, I cared. These weren't just numbers or another job to me. Every adoption represented a life that mattered. Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, the focus seemed to shift. What should have been an organization centered around saving cats and serving the community became, in my experience, increasingly consumed by politics, control, power struggles, and a toxic workplace culture. And that is an incredibly sad thing to say about a cat rescue. As I got older and began experiencing physical limitations, I made the decision to move to part-time, semi-retired status. I wasn't walking away. I wasn't abandoning the cats. I was trying to find a way to continue doing something I loved while acknowledging that I could no longer physically do everything I once could. Then the job descriptions changed to include physical cat-care responsibilities that I was no longer capable of performing. What I needed was some understanding and support. What I received instead was pressure, harassment, and criticism about my availability -- even though I had deliberately chosen to work the busier days when I could be most useful. After giving years of my life to this organization, it was incredibly painful to be treated as though my years of experience, dedication, accomplishments, and contributions suddenly meant nothing because I couldn't meet newly imposed physical expectations. Apparently, loyalty only goes so far when you're no longer able to fit the mold someone else has decided you should fit into. That was the part that hurt the most. Not having to retire from a job I loved. Not having to accept that I was getting older. But realizing that an organization I had poured so much of myself into could make me feel unwanted rather than valued. A truly compassionate organization should understand that people, just like animals, go through changes. People age. Circumstances change. Physical abilities change. And after years of service, those people deserve dignity, respect, and compassion -- not harassment and pressure. I did not leave because I stopped loving cats. I left because I could no longer tolerate the environment surrounding them. And that distinction matters. I will always be incredibly proud of the work I did. I will always remember the cats I helped place, the families I helped bring together, and the lives that were changed because I cared enough to do the job well. No amount of workplace politics, control, or toxicity can erase that. The saddest irony is that I spent years helping cats find their forever homes, only to eventually realize that I needed to find my own way out of a place that no longer felt like home. I wish the organization had remained focused on what brought so many of us there in the first place: the cats. Because the cats deserve better. And so do the people who dedicate years of their lives to saving them.

I have no issues with the adoption center (besides the fact that one cat I adopted from them had a…read moremajor ear infection and the other had skin cancer), the clinic in the back is the problem. The least of all of my issues: Every single time I came for my appointment I never waited less than 45 minutes, and once almost two hours. Our cats ear infection got worse after every visit, the head doctor was dismissive and rude, (I would dread having to talk to her, and was so pleased anytime she wasn't there) they didn't keep track of what medications our cat was on, even going as far as telling me I must have gotten one of the medications somewhere else (what??), when we would ask about past medications THEY had given to him, half the time they didn't have the name or any information in their chart, they once gave us unlabeled cream in a random jar and never told us what it was. They put my kitten under anesthesia without prior warning multiple times because they couldn't handle cleaning out his ears when he was a tiny baby, and they often forgot to call us to pick him up, and rarely followed up with his test results despite promising to do so. We once waited almost a month to hear back, that was the final straw, we were already seeing another vet by the time they got back to us. The "ear cleanings" were them ripping the scabs off of his ears, it was reopening the wounds, causing him major pain, and probably causing more infection. Our new vet pointed out that they were opened and aggravated after our last visit with the clinic, and they didn't understand why they would do that, let alone why they would do that to him multiple times, or why they had to use anesthesia. We were told multiple times that he is deaf, when he is not, he can hear the treat bag being opened from upstairs, and our new vet confirmed he can hear fine. During one of our last visits the head doctor accused us of not doing our part at home when we had the scratches and scars to prove that he was getting the many different medications he was prescribed daily. We were driving a 2hour round trip just to go to them and doing everything that was asked of us, but were treated unkindly and accusatorially when we asked why things weren't getting better. We dealt with this for almost three months, his ears never improved, only worsened in that time and I am positive he would still have major issues if we had kept going here. As soon as we switched vets his ear issue cleared up within two visits (3 weeks), the vet never felt the need to put him under, and worked with us to find the underlying issues so we could deal with the root of the problem. After dealing with this new vet for the last half year I am convinced the cat clinic did nothing to help and very likely made things worse. Our experience with this new vet has been so opposite of our experience with the Cat Depot Clinic that I feel obligated to warn people. Even though we are grateful for Cat Depot for the amazing cats we adopted from them, we cannot trust this place, nor can we recommend it. PS our other cat had a small tumor on his face that the head doctor refused to look into, saying it was impossible for him to have skin cancer and it was just a pimple. Our new vet immediately took a sample his first visit and it was skin cancer. He had to surgically remove it and now we know to check him regularly for any new bumps.
