Yelp reviews shouldn't always be about your favorite pizza place. Sometimes things get a little more serious. Today I want to review a business that I consider compassionate and best in class. First of all, what is a good example of compassion? Being sympathetic and warmly taking care of a pet that was in need of timely euthanasia. Euthanasia is definitely something you don't want to have to do or even think about, but it was clearly necessary and we knew it was the right time. Laurel Road Veterinary Clinic helped us almost immediately. From the time I called, they were able to squeeze us in for an appointment within 30 minutes. Kelly was the Receptionist/Assistant that took my telephone call. She was most understanding and a true professional. A pleasure to deal with. Thanks Kelly! The DVM that actually performed the service on my dog was a warm-hearted Nedra Barksdale. She thoroughly explained the procedure to me and made my dog comfortable. She was gentle and calm, making it a good experience for Grace dog. There was even a box of tissues for me since this was an emotional experience for the pet owner. With the quality of care being exceptional and the staff being so understanding and kind, I pass along my recommendation. We will use this group when we get our next dog. On behalf of Grace Dog, thank you !

As bad as it was she made it easier as she's sooo kind and caring and so was the technician she had with her (I can't remember her name) I have one old cat left and when it's her time then I expect to have the caring Jennie her for her also. So if you need a Vet I highly recommend Chasing Tails, she has everything that a vet's office has in her traveling mobile office.

Callie was easy she loved everyone, Lucy was the test of acceptance she's disliked the vet after her first office visit. We literally had to carry/drag her into the building, then she would hide behind the furnishings, it was so heartbreaking. We changed vets, no go. We asked Dr.J, if she would give us a try, Lucy was a little afraid, but each time she's shown improvement. I believe that's been about 6+ years ago. We really like Dr.J, and her staff. She's given us excellent care, and is compassionate beyond measure. Trouble is she needs a clone, I hear she's not accepting new pts right now, all I can say is keep trying! She's well worth the wait!!

There were NO cars in the parking lot in the middle of a weekday. Very strange and should have been my first clue something is off for an office with two vets available and no visible patients. Another clue should have been the "payment responsibility" disclosure they required me to sign before they would even look at my pet. In more than 60 years of pet ownership, I have never had to sign something like that before treatment. I brought my cat in because she had not eaten or had a bowel movement in seven days. After an exam and X-rays, I was told everything was fine and that she was probably pooping somewhere in the house. EXCUSE ME??? As if I hadn't already thought of that and looked everywhere myself. This is a cat who has NEVER done that in the 13 years I've had her. So, I left with no answers, no explanation for why my cat hadn't eaten in a week, no explanation for why she hadn't pooped in a week, and a $250 charge on my credit card. Apparently, at Island Animal Hospital, "everything is fine" is considered a diagnosis. And don't even get me started on the condition of the office. With the fees they charge, one would think they could afford to update the place. It looks like very little has changed since Dr. Moore was there nearly 30 years ago. When your pet hasn't eaten or had a bowel movement for seven days, you expect answers. Instead, I got a guess, a credit card charge, and was sent on my way. No wonder they are still taking new patients when every other vet in town is not. Do yourself a favor and look for another vet.
