I took my 2020 4runner in for a simple alignment. Took 4 1/2 hours. Went on a road trip a few days later and close to getting home I notice a big clunk noise and the car shifting right while breaking. Looked under the truck and the back bolt holding the lower right a-arm on is almost totally out with the nut barely threaded. They didn't re-torque or even tighten that major bolt holding my wheel to the chassis. If it had come out on the freeway at 85 who knows if i'd even be here to write this. Stay very very far away from this crap hole. Literally anywhere would be better. F*ck this place! read more

K I had a coolant leak in my car, and took it here to have it checked. I called and made an appointment and dropped off the car, told me they would get to it in two hours, two hours go by and nothing, i called and the mechanic( never got his name) told me he wouldn't get to it today, and I said that was fine. The next day i called in the morning and was told they would get to it in the afternoon and would give me a call before they started, afternoon comes around and i end up calling again, low and behold they still haven't looked at it but told me they were gearing up to bring it in and run diagnostics. Was told they would call me back when they finished that. I didn't get a call back, and before I realized it they were closed so I left a a message about how upset I was about it. Never got a call back had to call them again the next day they were open and then told me that the main guy wasn't in and they would have him give me a call, he didn't call and when I tried to call later no one was answering. I WENT IN TO TALK TO THEM AND THEY ENDED UP TELLING ME IT WOULD BE WEEKS BEFORE THEY COULD LOOK AT IT. I promptly took my car keys back after that.This has been the worst experience I've had with a mechanic, highly suggest taking your business else where. Ps. I brought my pickup in for scheduled maintenance...a transmission flush. When I brought it in, I was told they were short staffed. They called me a couple of hours later they called to tell me it didn't need a transmission flush. I guess they think they know more than the manufacturer. What a joke....can't say I will go back. If they don't have the time...they should reschedule, not blow you off. read more

My old Jeep needed a new fuel pump and I called joe up. Most places in town was A 2 week to a month wait for replacement. All the places in town costs between $750 to $900 for the service to be done completely. Joe got me scheduled in the very next day and the price was within limits. I am very happy with the speed and quality of their work. I have been using this shop for 15 plus years since before they changed the name. I still love the work they do. We had an emergency stop on our trip from Seattle to Des Moines. We showed up late in the day and the owner and Fred went WELL ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure we could continue our journey quickly (going to a 50th wedding anniversary). Joe (the owner) is very careful to provide great customer service. I had him service my Mini Cooper S. I'm writing this 1 year later because the part he replaced went out, after I had moved from Billings. I called Joe to tell him and see if he covered the part and labor. Joe has insurance for that, so it paid for replacing the part and the labor to the mechanic in my city. I'm grateful for the coverage and attention to detail Joe took. read more

Do not go here, if I could drop zero stars I would, they charged me 420$ to NOT fix my truck that was missing. I told then it was probably just in need of new wires and plugs, they went after the throttle bodies instead, and did NOT fix the problem, yet gave it back to me and a very large bill to boot. Joe and the staff at Heights Car Care are truly top notch! We were traveling to Billings from Bozeman for a little vacation when we suddenly blew a CV joint all over the road. With bearings and twisted metal flying everywhere, it was apparent that our Chevy Impala was going nowhere. Fortunately, it happened close to Billings. I'm sure that you can imagine the frustration and dismay that many have experienced when attempting to find a shop open on a Saturday. As we began to give up and accept the possibility that we could be staying there until Monday or Tuesday without a car and ruining our vacation, we made one final call. To our amazement a friendly voice actually picked up on the other end and said those 3 magic words, YES, WE'RE OPEN! Relieved, we called a tow company and had our car towed to Joe and his staff at Heights Car Care. (I would recommend telling, and maybe even writing down Heights CAR CARE to the tow truck driver a few times.... they have a habit of towing to the wrong place). Heights Car Care worked with us during all of the logistical headaches and were there every step of the way. The owner, Joe greeted us with a smile and worked with us to get our car in right away, even though there was quite a line up before us. Joe truly saw our bind and approached the situation empathetically and professionally. They even came in on a Sunday to help get our car back up and running right in time for our trip home on Sunday. Joe not only came in on Sunday to help make the repairs himself, but also is well connected and was able to get a new CV Joint for our specific car on a Sunday. This in itself was epic! I have never seen that done before. He even vacuumed our car and performed a full inspection. With overtime pay and the work that Joe put in, we were expecting to pay an arm and a leg. But actually I was shocked at the final price. Joe was more than fair and the price we paid was a lot less than we expected. I would recommend Joe and his staff at Heights Car Care to anyone in or around Billings or surrounding areas. Now that it has been about a week since this debacle, I can say with confidence that Joe performed solid work. Our car is still performing beautifully and the repair seems rock solid. I made an appointment and got in on time. My 21 year old Dodge car needed a new water pump (as there was a slow leak) which came in a kit along with a timing belt and pulley. Taylor, a nice-looking young man, and a musician, at the front desk, gave me a low and high cost. In case something unexpected happened. Vinnie, the tech, a character of a guy, his truck license says "Pitbull" originally from Maine and Italian, made me laugh, drove me back home in the "Pitbull", Taylor called me later to tell me they ordered the wrong kit, the one they needed was $100. more. It took a day and into the next day to retrieve my car, with my work hours. I picked it up at 5pm. so I got to met Joe the owner, a super nice man, he and his wife likes to visit Vegas. The front desk area is super warm, as the heater blasts out hot air. As luck would have it the cam shaft sprocket broke, he showed me the part, an additional $68. Total $1,391. for all that, on the high end, as Taylor said it could be. Parts and labor were equal cost. Since I don't have mechanic skills or a garage, I have to trust these guys to do the job right. I prefer small town garages like this one, I would give my business to a smaller "mom and pop" over a big expensive place any day. Would I return to Heights Car Care? Yes, I will. Traveling back and forth from Dickinson ND to Billings MT for medical care my SUV broke down. It was missing and I had a full time up 2 months earlier (for $530). Joe (what a really nice guy) spent time with me to go over the things that could be wrong. He did a full diagnostic on the car and figured out that it was an EGR value. I've had 3 mechanics look at the car, I even told one of them that I thought it was an EGR valve. Anyway, Joe and his team worked on my car until 8pm to make sure it was fixed right so I could get to my appointments at Billings clinic the next day. He even spent extra time trying to removed rust and corroded bolt off and didn't charge me for the extra labor. All in all he did a lot more work to get me going for a lot less money than the first guy did. I'm very happy. I would recommend him to anyone. I had a similar situation as Andrew H. I'm moving to Oregon and AC stopped working. I had to ask how much it would cost -- though he already started to work on it -- and he also did a full recharge on it. He couldn't figure out how to pop the hood. I'm still standing here after it took about three hours for him to figure out it was a bad clutch (which who knows if that's the actual problem.) He was very, very nice but he didn't seem to have a clue how to fix a car. I regret taking this advice from Jiffy Lube -- I already informed them to not tell future customers -- and I still have a 9 hour drive ahead of me without AC during 90 degree weather. I was on a road trip through Billings when my A/C went out. Heights Car Care was recommended to me by a guy at AutoZone, and I wish it hadn't been. The guys were plenty nice, but Joe is not a car guy. Instead of visually inspecting for the actual problem (bad compressor), Joe hooked me up for a complete freon recharge which was a complete waste because it wasn't the freon that was the issue. The bigger problem was that he didn't even tell me how much the service would cost before he went ahead an did it. The actual technician took one look at the compressor and saw that it was not spinning at all. If I could have had that knowledge at the beginning, I could have $160 and three and a half hours of my trip back. Joe talked about NOT performing services and then telling the customer how much they owed, but then he did that exact thing. If you're going to use this shop, make sure you have extra time and don't mind extra charges. read more
