The tour was cool, fairly standard if you like to check out breweries. The tasting room was stickier than a candy factory. They could do a better job of wiping down the bar and or mopping up the floor every once and awhile. You literally didn't want to touch anything. The beer was delicious. I loved the beer selections that they offered. Obviously, you could get the standard Heineken, or Heine light but they also had a seasonal selection that was fantastic. This is a definite must do for your to do list when visiting Amsterdam! When you walk in, you receive a bracelet that gives you two tabs for free drinks on the tour. You take a walk through the history of heineken and learn how the brewing process works for their fabulous beer. The highlight of the tour is when you learn how to pour beer from a tap and you receive a certificate. You also get free tastings of ice cold beer. Can I say more? The beer definitely tastes a lot better when it comes straight from the tap. :) Another highlight was an amusement park-esque ride. It includes real movement that makes you feel like you are actualy flying and moving through different areas of the factory. It reminded me of backdraft or star tours at other amusement parks. At the end there is a gift shop where you could purchase just about anything with Heineken on it. It went by rather quickly but it was a really fun time! read more

This is appropriately called an "experience" rather than a "tour". I definitely recommend downloading the mobile app. With free wifi here you can take care of business while learning about one of the worlds most well known beers. The first few rooms are facts and history type things but after that there is a bunch of interactive activities such as designing your own bottle, solving a case, pouring a beer, learning about Heineken branding, and mixing up a batch of beer. This is all followed by free beers of course. I also found the people who help you out during your experience to be extremely polite and knowledgeable. One even gave us tips for Barcelona. Thanks! Take advantage of the free ride on the Heineken boat afterwards. If you haven't done a canal tour in Amsterdam then this is your opportunity at a free one. Worth the trip for the free gift. I have been here like 4 or 5 times now showing the Museum and it's beer to all my international friends when they come to Amsterdam. It's also something that has to be on your Bucketlist when your visiting the city. Just like Tulips, Rembrandt van Gogh, Redlight, Mils, Coffeeshops, Anne Frank, but Heineken is a must! It's not only the history of the brand and the beer but you actually even go for a ride in a 4D cinema and tasting the whole process of Heineken yourself! And in the end you can even drink two fresh made Heineken in the Bar. My boyfriend and I went here thinking it would be a good time - we were wrong. It was more of an hour long Heineken commercial with a lot of gimmicky games and rooms, including a "ride" through the beer making process. If you truly appreciate beer and/or history you will not appreciate this tour. It starts off promising but does not end that way. You do get 2 1/2 small beers and the staff was great - that's about it. For a brewery with the history and age, I expected more. Also, I don't know what this rooftop terrace is that I keep reading in other reviews, but we definitely did not see it. I guess ask about that if you still decide to go? read more

I've already been to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, Ireland and the Coors Brewery tour in Golden, Colorado, so I wasn't too keen on attending yet another brewery tour. But my bf hadn't ever been on one, so we decided to check out the Heineken Experience together. Getting e-tickets online in advance saved us a couple of euros, so that was nice. When we arrived and showed the guy our printed tickets, he gave us one of those rubber wristbands with 3 little discs attached to it. Two of the discs were good for a free beer tasting during the tour, and the 3rd one was for a free gift... but the gift shop was somewhere far away not on the premises, so we didn't bother getting it. I'm glad I've been on other factory tours prior to this one, because I think the exhibits here weren't as nice. They tried to build in a lot of interactive elements with cranks to turn and buttons to push... but there were so many mechanical failures that like half the stuff wasn't working properly. Thank goodness I've already smelled hops before and have had a general education on how beer is brewed. :P What I did like though, was the beer tasting lesson in the middle of the tour. We each got a small glass to look at for bubbles underneath the surface (indicates freshness), and we learned that the best way to get the full flavor is to take big swigs... not itty bitty sips. My bf was so impressed that he kept talking about the proper way to drink a beer to all his friends for the next 3 months. :O There was also a little kiosk for you to film a video message and send it via email, so my mother became the proud recipient of a cheesy video from me saying "Hi, mom!!" in a squeaky voice. LOL. I also hopped on to a fake DJ booth display and pretended to be a DJ. No idea how convincing I looked, but it was fun to mess around a bit. Photo op!! The area where we got the free beer at the end was set up like a cool bar, with tables and a live DJ spinning tunes. So awesome and hip! Their marketing gurus really did a good job in making them look super cool. You could try to tap your own beer, but since I'm already a Guinness Storehouse certified "perfect pint pourer" ;), I didn't bother to wait in line and instead went to the area where it was already pulled for you. You could get two regular beers, or exchange both tokens for one extra-cold, slightly larger glass of Heine. I got the 2 regulars, while my bf got the extra-cold. I tried a bit of his beer--and although you could notice the difference in temperature--mine was just fine, too. Besides, 2 is better than 1, eh? I'm not normally a beer-drinker, but I must say that the beer was refreshing and delicious! So all-in-all, it was a fun afternoon with a happy ending. :) read more

FYI: check google for tour times as it well also tell you when is the best time to go. My sister was smart enough to do so. There was NO line up. Sunday afternoon around 2:26pm. The regular tour is €18 which gets you the tour and 2 glasses of beer, beer tasting, free photo booth picture e-mailed, various games and a ride - yes a ride! The ride comes before the beer tasting ;). This tour is as long or as short as you make it. I suggest taking the time and really enjoy all that it offers as it's very interactive. I really enjoyed the beer pouring. After pouring the perfect pint you will be awarded with a certificate. If you do nothing else while in Amsterdam, at minimum you should take this tour. This place was so much fun and the beer tasted amazing. The tour started off a little slow but then turned into a party. It was not what I expected from the start of the tour. I didn't like how you had to give up free beer to just learn how to pour one, so I suggest skipping the beer pouring room and just using your "buttons" to get the free small glasses instead, it comes down to 1 beer vs 2. I got to make my own bottle label which was super cool! I am still hesitant to drink the beer because it does NOT taste the same in the USA! The Heineken Experience Tour is a compelling journey that takes you through the history of the company, the main ingredients of the beer, the brewing process, and it is followed by a tasting. This tour takes place in the historic brewery that is centrally located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This experience is only a 12 minute drive away from the most visited areas of Amsterdam called Old Centre and a 10 minute walk from the famous I Amsterdam sign. Getting to the tour was very simple because the facility is very centrally located. From my hotel we were able to take one tram and then get off at a stop that was only a 5 minute walk away. The huge Heineken sign made it very easy for us to find the building with no hassle. The Heineken Experience has become one of the most popular tourist spots in Amsterdam in recent years and the tour attracts people from all over the world. Personally, I would not have traveled to Amsterdam just for the Heineken tour because I am not a beer connoisseur. But because we were already in the city for the weekend, I thought it would be a fun experience and I was right! When my group walked into the building we were greeted almost instantly. The greeters ushered us to the ticket counter, but because we had pre-purchased the tickets online, we were guided to the area where the tour started. We were given a Heineken bracelet with two pull off tabs that were to be used later on the tour. Although the tour is said to be a walking self-guided tour it begins with a brief explanation of how the company started by a guide. After the guide gave his entertaining spiel, we were guided into the interactive part of the tour. The next part of the tour was similar to a museum but instead of just paintings or photographs it had interactive pictures that had voice recordings of the history of Heineken and its founders. As we moved along we came across the part of the tour that explained the process of beer creation. We learned that the four major ingredients of Heineken include water, barley, hops, and yeast and we were actually allowed to feel the different ingredients which I thought was very neat. After, we walked through the former production areas which included the ginormous copper mash tanks. Then visited the horse stables where our very knowledgeable tour guides explained how Heineken used to deliver the beer via carriage ride. The best part of the tour was when we were given a small sample glass of Heineken but we were told not to drink it until another designated tour guide gave us a lesson on the "right way" to drink. This part of the tour was entertaining and the guide that showed us how to drink properly was absolutely hilarious. The guide was very knowledgeable about the Heineken brand and she was very good at engaging the crowd. After learning the correct way to drink our beer, we made our way over to the bar area. In between the stables and the bar was an area where you could take pictures in Heineken booths, with different Heineken props, and you could even personalize your own bottle for a small fee. This was a cool feature of the tour and my friends and I actually had a worker snap a picture of my group. Once we got to the bar area, we were able to use the two rip off tabs from our wristband to get two full size beers. One option instead of using one of the tabs for a full size beer was going to the pouring area to compete for the "best pour". An entertaining tour guide did a demo and then would monitor the competition. Once finished, the guide chose the winner for the best pour and they received a certificate that said "certified pourer". My friends and I loved this because we got to learn how to do a real pour while competing with each other. When visiting Ireland, I went to the Guiness Tour and they didn't have a pouring section so I think this made the Heineken tour very unique. When exiting the building, super friendly workers gave us free Heineken sunglass and a bottle opener. We loved that they gave us Heineken memorabilia from our tour so we could have something to hold onto from our experience. Overall, I had a wonderful time at the Heineken tour from start to finish. The interactive museum was captivating and this tour was the perfect activity to attend while visiting the city. I was able to learn a lot about the history of a very successful company while having a great time with friends. After the Heineken Experience, I am now a true fan of its beer and the brand and if you ever have the chance to visit Amsterdam, I would highly recommend going on the Heineken Experience Tour. read more

Cool experience with a lot of great photo opportunities. The beginning is a little slow because it was very crowded when we went, so listening to the guides talk was hard. Once we got past that and into the interactive part we really enjoyed ourselves. You get a wristband in the beginning (you get to keep this after) that has 2 tokens on it you turn in to get your free drinks at the end of the experience. The 2 free drinks options are sodas, 0.0 beer, or regular beer. The bar area is really cool and has a ton of tables and space to stand around and socialize. During the tour you get to try another mini beer (this is in addition to the 2 drink tokens you get). You also get to see the horses and the room with he really pretty windows. All of this explains the history of the brewery. After the history part and before the bar, you get to do a ton of fun interactive tech things. There's a photo booth that sends photos to you via email, a green screen where you get to "ride bikes" through Amsterdam and send the video of you riding to yourself via email, play interactive video sports, play PS4 games, go into a virtual "bottling" experience that was like a cool party, and pose in front of a lot of photogenic backdrops. The Heineken Experience is a MUST when you are in Amsterdam. For 18 euros, you get an 1.5-hour tour that walks you through the history of the company and how the beer is made plus 2 glasses of Heineken at the end and a free gift (limited to a Heineken glass). The tour may be touristy, but the exhibits were so engaging with video media, samples (one water + barley and one small sample of Heineken beer to teach you how to proper enjoy the beer). I love visiting breweries and wineries to hear about how the company started and what techniques they use to produce their craft. But the Heineken experience was really a distinct experience, delivered on a massive scale and quite memorable. One warning: prepare for a lot of shuffling as there will be many tourists, but it's no big deal if you leisurely walk through the tour. read more

There was a mistake upon arrival with my tickets, so we were compensated 3 rubber bands each (1 rubberband gets you 2 beers at the end of the tour). You get to play games and partake in some cool activities during the tour. At the end of the tour is a bar/club area for everyone to get their drink on and converse. Coming from the Guinness experience I didn't have that high of hopes. I paid 16€ from one of the tourist shops, and you get 2 free beers and a glass at the end. Spent 2.5 hours here, and although the beginning was boring and set me up for disappointment it really picked up. They have a bottle simulator and photo booths. With lots and lots of museum rooms. You can customize a bottle and get a glass engraved! Glasses are pretty cheap at the gift shop. You have the option to pour your own glass but that costs 2 beer tokens, so just skip that and get 2 beers at the bar (i asked for a certificate even though I didn't have enough tokens to pour and she still gave it to me.) Fun experience, enjoyed seeing the old brewing area and bottling machine. Had time for a properly poured glass (and learned how to pour and drink properly (!)) I found the video presentation to be fun and informative and really enjoyed the nightclub vibe and cool music playing at certain points of the tour, the bottles all over the ceiling gave it a cool, easy going vibe, much like Amsterdam itself. Moving along u get to experience being "bottled" & then have your first glass of beer so good. u have a few more interactive experiences u even get to design your own bottle & buy it as a souvenir if u want. The tour ends in the beer lounge here u can compete in a pouring contest if u want or just simply chill out & use your tokens for 2 more glasses of beer, cool lounge area good music playing not a bad way to end the tour. The Heineken Experience was one of my favorite things I did while in Amsterdam. The tickets are affordable, and should be bought ahead of time online. Once you arrive you enter in a large group by your ticket entry time and the fun begins. The tour begins with the usual Brewery info on how the beer is made but my favorite part was how interactive and fun the tour was. At the end you literally end up in a bar with music to have your beers. If you're a woman check out the self acclaimed best selfie mirror in the bathroom inside the bar. There are 2 lines, one pre-paid the other pay at the counter. The pre-paid ticket line was more than double long and when buying at the counter you pretty much go right in from there. So all these people saying buy online, I didn't and was in almost immediately once the doors opened. I almost bailed when I saw the crowd and my gut feeling was right. While I wont criticize Heineken, the crowd was super annoying. People pushing, cutting in line, smoking in line, some seemed drunk already, many rowdy younger kids horse playing and acting stupid. The crowd pretty much killed the experience. I ended up rushing through the tour just to get out. The bar at the end was overcrowded and annoying, I didnt even use the two free tokens for beer. You're better off just going to a bar and googling Heineken's history IMO. This has nothing to do with the actual factory. Its just a history lesson and self promotion. It also seems to cater to younger groups who are stoned / drinking. There are some visual effects, lots of silly games throughout. I've never been to a beer factory tour like this that was so chaotic. I would for sure never go here again. read more

It's got the bar and bright lights and the fun selfie room where you can twitter till your hearts content. WOW. I have never been to a beer museum before, and the Heineken Experience is definitely one for the books! We ordered our tickets online so we didn't have to wait in line. Upon arrival, they give you this green silicon bracelet with 2 little buttons on it. At first, you're like.. alright that's cool. But the 2 little buttons actually allows you to get 2 free beverages at the end of the tour! Either beer for the adults, or soda/water for the youngings. This was a self-guided tour, but it was super cool! First, you get to learn about the history of Heineken - the evolution of the packaging, and background info of the creators. Then you learn about the 4 main ingredients of how the beer was made. They even pass around the barley & what not for you to smell & feel! There are also a lot of other fun activities you can do here, it's very interactive. People bring their children here too, so don't worry. It's kid friendly. They just can't participate in the beer tasting. You can even engrave your own Heineken Beer bottle!! The gift shop was pretty cool and during our time there, they also passed out free Heineken beer openers. So you're able to take something home even without purchasing any souvineers. Overall, this is definitely a big attraction of Amsterdam. I don't even drink beer and I enjoyed it! My little beer tokens went to my fiance. So he can have double the beers. read more

CHEAP!!! snacks are way cheaper, no horses, tiny beer sampLes, only 1 gift (personalized beer bottle), no penthouse bar at all, no view, no zero degree beer tap and the gift shop is way smaller, cheaper. Even the semi private den experiences are gone. we sat in a straight row, unabe to interact much with everyone especially, those on the end. I am so sorry his company decided to favor profit rather than The Customer Experience. I would terminate anyone who as responsible for this mess. Seeing the brewing room and it was interesting to see the horses and find out a bit more about them and their role with Heineken. I love breweries so when we came here for a bachleor party it was a given we would come here, even though our uber driver told us it was a tourist trap. For around 20ish Euros you get a pretty decent tour. They go through the history, the brew process, and even get virtually bottled shipped to stores! In the end its pretty much becomes a very big ad campaign but thats expected. It is a tourist trap but I do feel that its worth the money. You get 2 drinks and the bar at the end is pretty chill, you can even compete against your friends to pour the perfect Heineken. Great day time activity! read more
