I stopped into Heinen's this afternoon for a few items. I have been to Heinen's many time before. Today I wanted to highlight they are allowing carts in the parking lot. I know it has been a little bit since the change, but it was a little sad to see. They still offer grocery pick up for those who prefer to pick up their items. Heinen's is a great local grocery chain. They have a nice deli, produce section and wine area. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Overall it is a great place to shop. read more

First time coming here. Came here on my drive back from Cleveland. This store has so many great healthy options. Mainly came here for my energy drinks and a few snacks. Store is clean, well organized shelves. Staff is friendly and there's even a few self check out lines. Plenty of parking as well. Overall, great place to shop at if you're in the area. Plenty of great shops in the area too with close proximity to the highway. read more

Took me long enough to review Heinen's. I've been not only an employee of Heinen's back in the day for 4-5 years, but also a shopper of Heinen's all throughout my life. I can tell you first hand that it's one of the best grocery stores you can find in the country; I've traveled a lot, and none of them can compare to your experiences here. From the freshness of the meat, seafood and produce departments, to the delicious forever bagels that taste like Brueggers, and to the friendly and customer-centric model that they pride themselves on, I can't think of a better place to go than here. Even the two brothers that own Heinen's (Jeff and Tom) have stopped in and helped out the employees, especially during busy times. Goes to show what a caring company does. If you look at the prices Heinen's has and do a comparison to others, you can actually see that Heinen's is actually cheaper in most areas and the quality of food is way better. While giant eagle may have its advantage card to think that you're saving money and can save through fuel perks, Heinen's Corporate actually did a presentation for us employees back in the day during our customer service training demonstrating how that model didn't work, and was actually more expensive. Giant Eagle's model was to deceive customers into actually thinking they were saving money, when in reality they weren't. It made so much sense. That's why I love Heinen's -- outside of the food, they focus more on values, ethics, and providing world-class customer service. They do so much good that most of customers overlook. It's time to support a small northeast Ohio grocery store more than you ever have before. read more

Store has a nice selection of items especially for those with dietary needs. The lady at the bakery was very friendly. The woman at the register was not able to hear anything I was saying due to the plastic walls. There was no hand sanitizer at the registers and the did not wipe the pads down between customers. There was no satirized at the door either. I had to ask an employee if there was any in the store. read more

This is based on todays experience. We come here for certain things that Heinen's does well. For example, their gourmet blend burger meat @$12.99 is expensive, but smash burgers have never been better. Today, I bought some potato croquettes from the prepared food section. $15.99 a pound. Either a misprint or we missed the quality and/or taste. They were not great. Especially, for $16 a pound mashed potato balls. I also bought a small tub of beef bourguignon. It was only $12.99 a pound. Tell me what's wrong with this picture. Thank you. read more

First of all, let me start this by saying, this is one of the easiest grocery stores to take children under the age of 5. Your first stop should be the back bakery counter where your little ones can get a free sugar cookie. Or you can use it as a bribe and reward until you've gone through the whole store. They also have the fun little "car" shopping carts which make it a little extra fun for the kids. (I'm all about making it a fun day when doing errands with the little ones) They have a great selection of paleo, grain free, dairy free, gluten free and goat products. It's a very clean location with a nice staff that's very friendly. Although they seem to always be busy, I never have an issue going in and out quickly. read more

Based on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving 2023. I called two weeks ago and ordered a 10-12 lb white meat turkey breast for my elderly Mother. I spelled out her first and last name to the gal on the phone and explained what I wanted. A neighbor was kind enough to take her to Heinens today (she lives 18 miles away) and I just received a call at work and my Mother was crying on the phone. Heinens had apparently spelled our name wrong, had no record of it and she got home with the absolute WRONG ORDER. (She received a whole turkey instead) Not a great way to run a business and WON'T recommend this store to ANYONE!! read more

I LOVE Heinen's! I started shopping at Heinen's a few months ago when my boyfriend decided to go on a gluten-free diet for some health issues he was having. Besides having a dedicated gluten-free aisle and and a gluten-free freezer section they also have these awesome little signs throughout the store that mark individual foods as gluten-free. If you call the customer service department at Heinen's you can set up an appointment for a tour of the gluten-free offerings they have to offer within the store! In addition to having a great gluten-free section, they also do a great job of catering to those people who like to eat organic food as well. Heinen's also has an awesome produce section. They always have a large selection of fruits and vegetables. I like the fact that they have a lot of different types of produce that regular grocery stores do not have. The deli, meat and seafood departments at Heinen's are top-notch! All of their products are always very fresh and tasty! In addition to these sections they also have an awesome selection of ready-made dinners, soups and salads for you to take home and enjoy! Heinen's can be a little bit on the pricey side, but if you are careful and buy the sale items and use coupons it shouldn't set you back too much. If you haven't been to Heinen's I would highly recommend that you do! You will not be let down! read more

Oh Heinen's, you so fancy! Shopping at any Heinen's makes me feel like a rich housewife. Partly because the stores are nicer and carry a lot of organic and local brands, and partly because I feel naked shopping without my Giant Eagle Advantage card and I think the prices must be so much higher. Honestly though, they're not; and what you'll find at Heinen's is quality. Their produce is always fresh, the bakery is always fresh, their meat and seafood selections are always fresh - everything is. Heinen's carries a lot of craft beers and I'm always excited to pick up a bottle of Delirium Tremens or some Pumking in the fall. My last trip they had Schrimshaw and I was jazzed - after trying it at Winking Lizard in the glass of the month I thought I would never see any again since it must be "specialty". I also really love that Heinen's carries Hartzler's dairy - how cool to get an old fashion glass milk jug. But yes, it is pricey. They have a good selection of protein and snack bars - try the KIND brand. This Heinen's sushi selection isn't as great as Brecksville's but it's there and it's fresh. Consider picking up some cheese in their fancy cheese section or look for some Ohio City pastas in that general area too. I've even seen some Ohio City lobster raviolis in the frozen section - yum. Heinen's also caters to the gluten intolerant. Some of the frozen items clearly state "gluten free" and are all grouped together - love me the Organic Bistro Bowl's Sesame Ginger Salmon at lunch. Items on shelves will also have little signs that notify you of their gluten free status. The only part I dislike is the cart service, I'm either embarrassed because my car is dirty or feel weird not tipping. I consistently attempt to carry too many bags to my car on my own for those reasons...sheesh. read more

THE UP-SIDE: Heinen's Supermarkets have always been a step above the rest. This location is no exception. Having recently been forced to go gluten-free, Heinen's has been a godsend. First off, they have a nice section featuring gluten-free items. The offerings are all quality stuff - good tasting and made to the standards I need to stay healthy. Secondly, throughout the entire store, there are little pop-out signs that denote certified gluten-free offerings. So, as you're breezing down an aisle - say, chip and pretzel area - tiny signs jump out at you and say, "Hey, you! Gluten Boy! No need to be sad you can't eat all this junk! We've got a ton of stuff right down here made gluten-free!" This sort of attention to getting my attention makes going gluten-free a lot easier than it might be otherwise. Third, this location will actually give you a tour of their store and point out how to best shop there and be gluten-free. Win! Fourth, the freezer section has much gluten-free food, and offers the one and only tasty gluten-free bread - "Udi's." Thank god for Udi's Bread. It's keeping me high in sandwiches. :-) THE DOWN-SIDE: None. Zero. Nada. THE SUM-IT-UP: This place rocks. read more

When I first moved to Ohio a friend brought me to the Avon Heinen's as a "must know" location. I'm not sure why I never went back. 4 years later when I was radically experimenting w new foods and recipes, I strolled in w my reusable bags prepared to browse, acquaint myself w their offerings, and shop. I found the patrons to be HORRIBLE! Rude and nasty. The staff was just slightly better. I did about $100 in shopping. That will be the only time I ever shop at Heinen's. It saddens me to write this review. Heinen's has a wonderful history in Ohio as a grocer. There is a new book about grocery stores which features Heinen's and was recently on NPR. As I heard this on the radio, I wished I had had a positive experience and be could be "part" of this tradition, but no can do. Whether intentional or not, Heinen's is an unwelcoming elitist supermarket. read more

My health has brought me back to Ohio. Westside, Avon, Rocky River, Avon Lake area. I was pleased to see that Heinen's was still around when i arrived on 12/22/21. I had been in Naples Florida for almost 40 years, some in Tampa and 3 years in France. I haven't been to the market in over a year due to health reasons. I was at the store in Avon. Typically my partner and i go to to the Bay Village store and stay in the car. He comes out saying that the store attitude has changed. The Rocky River store has a staff that cares you're there and makes an effort to help. The Bay Village store is lacking in customer service. Disappointing and we will stop going there until we here that something has changed. Our friends that live in Bay express the same complaints. All have gone to management and have made to feel that they're bothering them instead of offering constructive criticism. 3.27 I ventured out on my own to the Avon store. I'm terminally ill so my strength level is limited and i tire easily. I found an electric cart. Sat in it, tried to get it to work but couldn't. I stopped 3 employees that said they didn't know how they worked and kept on walking. Finally someone stopped and told me I needed to unplug it and it might work in a very condescending way. I climbed out, found the plug and started off. Having no idea where anything was, of course i had periodic questions. I am a professional and treat all staff equally, the way it should be. The more professionally dressed staff members seemed the ones that I felt I was bothering. I spent over an hour trying to find under 12 items, i know this number because i could use the 12 items or less at checkout. I dealt with the most inconsiderate employee's that I've ever encountered in a store. I maybe looked rough. Sweat pants, ball cap, not shaved. But I was clean and could have bought the entire damn store. I don't know why the attitude but it's time Heinen's have some intense training of their management. The customers were more helpful than the employee's. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't asking a question in every isle. The lady at checkout was so kind and helpful. When I was leaving i was at the door hoping to get some help out to my car. A man in a tie was saying greeting or saying thank you to customers. Their customer service is so much better than I experienced and they're all over the south, serving all of the public and making an experience pleasant. Harris Teeter in SC was similar to Heinen's, again so much better. We have Giant Eagle and other large stores that we will start going to. Heinen's has the best meat and produce. I really can tell the difference in the quality of their steaks, roasts etc. This is a really nice store. I buy specific things from them since they are usually more expensive than most other supermarkets so I focus of the meats and produce where I can see the difference but your standard boxed or canned products I go to other stores since the prices are lower and the same product. The workers are always cheerful and willing to help which puts them above your other stores. read more

This is just one of those "feel good" stories that has you saying "why would I shop anywhere else?" Well, I guess if you are one of the unfortunate ones that does not have a Heinen's near you then I understand, but for the rest of us this place is just plain great! Founded right here in Cleveland in the 1920's and currently owned by the two Heinen brothers, the store is clean, spacious and inviting. There produce is fresh, their selection is wonderful and the people working there are eager to help. They consistently have some of the freshest and best fish around and the fresh ground peanut butter is a must have item. The bakery choices are terrific, and some of the local items they carry are not only unique, but delicious as well. I really like that they carry all the usual items plus some items you won't find anywhere else. The prices are about average, but the value received in freshness and service makes for a very enjoyable shopping experience. read more

I could hang out at the store all day. This grocery store has a great design to it. The layout is spectacular. It seems the management here do a great job to make sure there is no empty holes with the products. Customer service here is amazing as well, you bring up your car to the front and they put your groceries into your car, the experience is definitely great. The only negative thing I have to say about this store, it seems there prices are more expensive then other local grocery stores, other then that, I will still be shopping here when needed. read more

Have never been in a supermarket that sold fresh beer from a tap into a take home jug. very cool. they were sampling a muscat type grape that they sell in clamshells but they didn't have any muscat taste. I'm all about putting stuff in a store to see what people might like, but I wish their merchandiser had actually tasted the stuff. The produce department was full of great stuff they could have been sampling. But I digress. I would totally shop here if I had a Heinen's near me. read more

Heinens is the best. The staff is so friendly and helpful. It's a complete contrast from other grocery stores *ahem Giant Eagle. The prices are really decent on most things also. Weekly specials are even better! I love the prepared foods (cause laziness). I love the deli and butcher. Heinen's NEVER dissappoints! I cannot imagine the work that must go behind the scenes to produce the outcomes that Heinen's CONSISTENTLY without fail produces. They have the highest quality products and beyond quality customer service and they have it 365 days a year without exception. I cook a lot and have always been able to pick up any unusual ingredient for any recipe I am making. That saves me time and money. Their pricing, contrary to popular belief, is equal if not less to Giant Eagle but if you compare the quality you are definitely way ahead with Heinen's! Our whole family can shop here and has for years! My boyfriend and I are vegan and they have some the best looking produce in the area! All non GMO and an option to buy something locally! We are always trying new things! Most importantly my boyfriends mother recently diagnosed with cancer is under going the Gerson therapy which requires 50lbs of produce a week! Hands down the BEST supermarket in Northeast Ohio. I grew up in a town with a Wegman's - pretty great store, Heinen's is every bit as good and has a way broader selection of products and an incredibly nice looking, well planned store. The staff is what really sets it apart - no lazy cashiers or indifferent clerks, everyone is happy to help you and they WANT to help you. Incredibly personable staff - not sure how they do it but it'd be worth paying more for that service alone. But that's the thing - Heinen's products are extremely competitively priced (I can get better deals here than at Marc's on many pantry items). If you've never been, go to the one in Avon - it is so worth it. read more

I have been going to Heinen's in Avon for about three years now, and I have never been disappointed. Something happened yesterday, that just set a new record for customer service at Heinen's. They delivered the wrong shopping bags to my car at the pick-up. I realized it after I went home. I thought I would probably have to go back to get my groceries and return what I was delivered. But I called them and they took my transaction no. and terminal no. from my receipt and delivered all my groceries to the door step, and also gave me a $20 gift card. This Heinan's is always clean and I find the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Once when I was shopping one of the young men stocking the shelves saw that I was cold and asked if I would like him to go and see about getting the AC turned down....they do really go above and beyond. My issue with this Heinan's is that I feel like they consistently have meat out on the shelves that is a day or two away from the "sell by" date. Have had to throw away meat from Heinan's a few times bc it went bad in a few days. We also purchased turkey from the deli that gave my husband a bad case of food poisoning....The turkey had a bad smell to it the day after we bought it. Unfortunately the damage was already done. The manager was very nice and receptive when we reported the incident. I will continue to shop here bc of the great customer service. I am always careful to check dates on any meat I buy. read more
